Can I ask a technical question? What would be the most sensible thing to do with a pair of crystal champagne flutes that have been engraved with our first & last names & the date of our wedding 5 years ago? They have never been out of the box in the attic since they were unwrapped, as they aren't to our taste, but I can't CS them because of the engraving...should I just throw them into a glass-bank?

    Floss,

What are the chances of someone on Ebay with your names and date of wedding wanting them?!

    I say bin them!
  • Like many on here, going back and revisiting previously finished categories for a 2nd round. Unearthed a box of unsorted paperwork (ugh!). Among it was some greeting cards, I do keep some sentimental ones, especially as I've moved quite a bit and I love these greeting cards years later with their handwritten notes from those long gone.

Taking a swift look through and those with notes made the cut. I had to stop for a moment though and consider the Valentine card, obviously from a boyfriend past, it was signed 'Happy Valentine's day from guess who?'

Right. I have not a blessed clue who that was, so that one got transferred to my craft box. I enjoy making personalized cards, so I often recycle pieces of others.

I gave it a quick thank you and hoped that the sender was now in a better relationship!

I know - tis a pity we have an unusual surname! Will run the idea past DH before chucking them in the recycling - maybe even on our anniversary next month!

I do the same and tonight I came across a huge pile that wished me well when I left my last job 10 years ago and hadn't looked at since! Decided it was pleasing I was well thought of and sent them on their way.

Perhaps have a celebratory glass of bubbly in them and then recycle?

Kondoed an overhead cupboard in fitted wardrobe. Sorted through some tat mostly for the bin. A few photo albums and I took them quickly to the 'new home for photo albums' I created last week and that'll be a job for the winter. It's also where we keep rolls of wrapping paper. Not a good home as I need a stool to reach it and they're too long to fit in without slanting them. I'm thinking they may fit in under bed drawer. Any ideas for places to fit long rolls?

One very pleasing find was the dress I was wearing the night I met my DH: 38 years ago last Thursday! And it fits!!!!:D

an ikea bag of 'useful' things out to some young friends who are setting up their first flat. These were storage type bits that worked brilliantly in my old flat, but not well in my current one. Sent with smiles and an exhortation to pass them on if they werent useful after all ;)

Not got much else out really, but the flat is feeling much airier and more spacious. Oh, and my houseguest last week left me a head cold - in her it was mild - with my fibro and CFS its hit me like its the flu! Oh well, she was otherwise charming so I'll forgive her ;)

    Yay on the dress! :T

I have a freestanding wardrobe with drawers underneath and it has a plinth. Someone on here said they store their Christmas wrapping paper in the space under the drawers. Mine is now stored there inside an old pillowcase. I'll just take the drawer out when I need to get to it. Please someone remind me in December, though! :o
