  • What are people's views on storing sleeping bags? Received wisdom has always been that they should be stored loose, as compressing them makes them less effective. I looked in the spare room cupboard today, and just thought I couldn't justify giving up that much space to something which only gets used once or twice a year (and in truth, hasn't been used at all this year). With some cursing, I reluctantly forced it back into its stuff-sack. It definitely sparks joy, as I love camping, but do it very infrequently these days.

Inspiring posts to catch up on. Good job UK-American, and cluttered, your freezer wow! Definitely adding "learn to cook and stop eating ready meals" to my post kondo list.

I'm not too old to admit when I'm wrong about something.....I am now the proud owner of a mushroom tub in my kitchen utensils drawer! Tidied up the small hard to find bits a treat. Not done much else as been ridiculously tired this weekend. Going to a car bootie this weekend....Will be a temptation test but I definitely am a lot more picky about what enters my home these days.
Struggling to find the energy to do anything productive in the home today but sometimes you also gotta ignore it and just get outside.

  • Good morning :D

Not much kondoing this week - been busy with the paid stuff.

When we decorated our living room a few months ago we took down the pictures and the mirror, and I have been waiting since then for them go back up. The problem is, do we want them to go back in exactly the place, and do we still want them (frames more the issue than the content). We would quite like a new mirror, as the light wood frame of the old one no longer looks right, but can't justify the money at the moment. I had a LBM! I remembered some deco paint that i had uncovered while sorting my wardrobe (where else would it be?!), so I have now painted the wood (effect) frame cream :) It matches better, and will serve a purpose (DD likes a mirror there!) until we find 'the one'.
Unfortunately, it is still on the floor waiting to be put up :( Oh well!

I did a little paperwork yesterday - just need to chip away at it now I have it one place. I can't wait to say that it is finished! I am still finding paperwork around the house though :( I am sure it breeds!!

I am feeling inspired to sort out my freezer, thanks Clutterfree! Unfortunately my freezer (which I love!) is mainly shelves and quite narrow (American style), but it definitely needs sorting. Everything stacked a bit precariously at the moment!

Mavvy - I've booked for my mum and I to have our colours done. :j
It's not until end of September and I can't wait!

We have to take in 2 tops which we love and one which we don't love.
No problems with the love tops, but I gave all those that don't bring me joy to the charity shop! :o Luckily there is one that was going to go in the charity bag this week so, although I don't hate it, it will have to do! :D

We've also got to take with us our make up bag. Make up BAG???!! Is she insane? ;)

My make up is stored in 2 x Muji 5 drawers and 2 x Muji 2 drawers. :o :rotfl: (And yes this is after I Kondoed loads!) :p I shall have to just put in a few of my favourite items in a make up bag.

And before anyone says, yes I know I have FAR too much make up but it all brings me joy. I don't drink, smoke or socialise. I don't spend lots on clothes, shoes or bags - but I am a makeup and skincare junkie. :)

  • Good Morning Kondoers.

I Kondoed some frozen fruit from the freezer last night into a coconut pudding with creme fraiche - went down very well.

Then this morning I kondoed a couple of yellow sticker Danish pastries from the freezer. Yum. I ate mine after kondoing the utensils - amazingly I'm only removing a small bag of carp but the result is amazing. Few bits to the bin (including one of those tools for taking the foil of wine bottles - I ask you!) but a small bag to CS as well.

Only two kitchen cupboards left to Kondo now - the largest ones. I was going to have a go now, but wasn't feeling it. So have had my pastry and another coffee and a plan is coming to mind. One of the cupboards seems to get ever so slightly musty so I am going to put tins on the bottom of that and my cooking dishes on the top shelf. The other cupboard will have things like crackers, bread, fruit and veg in (that need to be dry). Feels lovely to be almost fully kitchen kondoed. :)

Now going to kondo some sausages from the freezer for brunch.

    Happy Sunday everyone. :)

Morning all... Glad to see we are making progress. I am still at the beginning of my KD journey and have to admit only been doing random bits. I was hoping to get really into these holidays but the weather has meant we have made the most of the sunshine instead!

However, if anyone remembers we started off doing DD bedroom. I refused to just put everything back in and we went through it slowly. It actually works without having a wardrobe and drawers instead. Her clothes all folded. Being the box room it also gives more surface area rather than piling her knick knacks on her desk and having no room to work. This just needs the odd thing doing now and when the ebayer collects the toys etc this week then my front room will have more space to move on to the next project.

I have also sold the audio tapes. Some of the money will go to the whisky jar and I will use the odd pound to get bits to finish my craft/jewellery projects so that I can sell them. I actually sat yesterday finishing bits up, when did I buy all this stuff? Must admit I am putting the excess that I know I won't finish on eBay.

Right...let's go make the most of another sunny day. Happy KD all!

Having mirrors on the floor leaning against the wall is quite trendy I believe.;)

Down sleeping bags should never be stored in their stuff sacks. We hang our up by the foot end using clip style hangers. Fortunately we can hang them up in a 'spare room' You can hang them up using a suit hanger - ie fold it over the bar of the hanger. Either way they would probably benefit from a shake out every now and then. Synthetic sleeping bags you can probably get away with storing but NEVER in a stuff /compression sack. Ours came with storage bags (as well as compression sacks) which are about as big as a pillow case. We are hardy outdoor types so have multiple sleeping bags each:D:eek:

OMG, another page and a half of posts to catch up on! I'm definitely slipping, on all fronts. :(

I'll be back later, to catch up, after I've given myself a very stern 're-focussing ' talk and actually done some kondoing that I can be proud of! :o

Has re-reading the MK Bible, been a help to getting re-focused, Konverts? I need to recover that driving excitement. :D

I have done some joyful cooking for myself, as a change from the same-old-same-old! So, I'm still moving forward. :)

All the kondoed areas are still lovely and I'm still

I think that's one of the huge joys of kondo. Once you've done in area it stays that way. That spurs me on to do more but good feeling that it can be done in my own time.:)
