The KonMarie method

Clutterfree, if there was an award for MK I think you'd win it! That is inspiring and as soon as I've cleared the food hoard I'm going to adopt your method!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Clutterfree - well impressed!! What have you labeled your packs with?? I'm starting to freeze this years produce but I must get it into some sort of order to make sure everything is used!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Well I freeze leftovers in small margarine tubs but it has never occurred to me to put a bag in there so I can lift the contents out. Thats why I love this site - do share what you label them with Clutterfree, I find a lot of labels dont stick in the freezer.
So, 57 (yes I counted them) CDs, DVDs and computer games are stacked on the living room floor. I think these are all ones that no-one wants any more but I have told OH and the kids that they can sort through them if they want. They will stay there until Monday. Not entirely sure what to do with them, I am tempted just to take them to the cs.
Igamogam keep going. I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel but I still have days when it all seems like too much effort.
Now I must do some paid work on the laptop. I am actually listening to a CD - one of the advantages of this kondoing is that you actually start to appreciate the things that you do want to keep!0 -
Hello from an occasional lurker. I bought the book in January and have been slowly but surely progressing. Whenever I felt that I needed some inspiration, I check back into this thread to see what you are were up to. Then I go back to work.
Back in July, iQueen posted something about her BCC diagnosis-->
In the hope that my experience might help others, PLEASE READ THIS!
So I read it. And it sounded a bit like what I had, but on the temple instead of the eye. In a pre-Kondo world I would have faltered...my GP is a hassle, you can call for an appointment on the day from 8 AM but from 9 AM they're gone. I've never won that lottery. :-(
Thankfully, they moved to internet appointments, so I signed up. Post-Kondo, I had sorted the paperwork and knew where to find my internet login/password. I scheduled something with the Nurse Practitioner, as I'd seen her before and thought it nothing. She didn't know what it was to discount it so suggested either a follow up appointment in 2 wks or 'if you have private, then I can refer you now.'
I work in a job (which I should probably Kondo) which gives me private insurance (which I've never used.) My mum passed away from a 'one in a one or two million chance' of unique cancer, so I took the private route. My paper was kondo'd so I had the private insurace ready.
The highly skilled (graduated in 1981, in Scotland) dermatologist diagnosed BCC, but with a caveat that 'you shouldn't have this at 40, I would expect 50, but I refer you to the plastic surgeon for another opinion.'
(In the meantime I researched, 40 is the average age for someone in America vs. 50 in the UK, so I am in form.) The plastic surgeon (coincidentally, a good friend does back office scheduling and operations, so knows this area and recommends him.) looked at it under his special magnified lens and diagnosed BCC, almost certainly.
So this morning I've been to have it removed.
If not for Marie, I'd probably be messing around a bit more. My BCC was removed earlier today, and I'm happy with how things turned out.
If no Marie I wouldn't have sorted out. A big thank you to everyone who has posted here.0 -

Thanks uk-american. I made a long overdue appointment last week for one of those 'wimmins procedures' which I had been putting off for a couple years - no reason to put it off. I just did:eek: but last week I was passing the surgery went in and asked for and appointment an was given one for the next morning ( think the receptionist was on a mission to 'catch' me) when I really thought it would be a couple of weeks away. So there was no excuse or time to dwell and all done an dusted in an instant. Not sure if this is all part of the MK woo magic factor. If it is, I'm happy:D
OH and DD2 back home tomorrow from their intrepid travels.........I have [STRIKE]dumped[/STRIKE] put in the conservatory some boxes of assorted konomo and I really must get it removed as I want the doubters ( mainly OH) when they return to see I have made a proper effort - ALL ON MY OWN:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

It's just masking tape! Tbh it's not that sticky, but I figured stacked like that they shouldn't get moved around much so hopefully will stay in place. The bags are also written on so if the label falls off I'd just have to lift it out to see what it is.
UK-American, well done for being so prompt and getting it fixed! :TAgeing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Clutterfree - LOVE how you've organised your freezer, will be copying your system - would never have thought of using masking tape.
Have started on some small-scale Kondo-ing. Got rid of some paperwork yesterday and today. Also Kondo-ed a lot of shoes which had been festering in a couple of large boxes for years. Oh, and defrosted one of the freezers, getting of some inedible stuff while doing so.
Long way to go but it's a start.

Thanks clutterfree, what a brilliant idea! I already freeze all my HM ready meals in the oblong plastic tubs and label with masking tape and stack but never thought of standing them on end MK style. Just went and checked and they fit the drawer brilliantly:D. So tomorrow will relabel on the sides. Although I have an inventory will be so much easier to just see at a glance what's there.0

I know what you mean, the items I used to freeze in blocks I always stacked on top of each other (like we all used to do with our T shirts pre Konmari!). I thought to myself, it's so much easier to find my T shirts now, I wonder if the same method would work with food and.... voila! :rotfl:
So obvious really but I must resist opening the freezer drawers to admire them like I do with my clothing!!Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

UK-American So Glad you sorted it out quickly Good old Marie and of course iTwin for her excellent information
Clutterfree My freezer is stacked like yours but not as neat what a great idea will be taking in on board so thank you.
Igamogam They will be so pleased to see you and all the komono ;)Sorted and ready to go and hopefully come over to the darkside (as my DH calls MK ):rotfl:
Winter clothes that I got down from the loft sorted and yet another bag to go to chazzerColour lady was completely right about me not being able to wear Florals of any type shape or item
Tried on two winter type dresses one Black and White and one foral Green and Brown leaf sort of print. The Black looked so nice and the Green one did nothing for me at all. Green is one of my colours both dresses the same style but the difference was amazing. Green one off to chazzer
So this Colour thing is working I am wearing things that I wouldnt have worn before and I know now what suits me and I am feeling so much better about whats right and whats wrong :rotfl:
I have just thought the Black T-shirt I wore all of the time think dragged off washing line and back onI havent worn once since the colour style thingy
Thats really odd as I lived in that Tshirt
was even wearing it when she came :rotfl:
Going to be putting Winter stuff away today as I really dont want too have to put summer stuff back in the loft I want to have the room to keep it all in the bedroomWhich maybe a big dream but I will see.
