We have a big open plan kitchen/diner and replaced the old quarry tiles with pale grey tiles last year. We will soon have the same tiles in the utility and ds loo. Best thing we ever did, I used to like the quarry tiles but tastes change and they were quite dark. We have wood effect vinyl flooring in the office but I quite fancy tiling this too then the only carpets ds will be in the hall and lounge.

Bought a fishing tackle box today so that I can get rid of the jewellery lady on my dressing table as part of my mission to have clear surfaces wherever possible. Cds and Dvds to tackle this weekend. Not quite sure how to do this as a lot of the Cds belong to OH but he never listens to them and is reluctant to sort through them. Suggestions welcome!

Thanks very much for the tips on the tiles. I am very lucky as DS2 is a professional tiler so he will be laying them. I have seen some that look like woodgrain and DS can lay them in a herringbone pattern but TBH I'm still at the looking at ideas stage. Although he can give good advice on type etc he never has to clean them!!!
:) One thing that Aslett points out with tiling (wall or floor) is that larger tiles mean fewer grout lines and tiles are always going to be easier to clean than grout.

When staying it little holiday appartments in Greece, I really liked the tiled floors and that they ran one line of tiles up the wall, eliminating the skirting board. Think of it, eliminating a dirt trap, potential place for insects to lurk and something which needs to be painted and occasionally replaced. What's not to like?

I think it would be an excellent thing to do, esp in areas like bathrooms, utilities and kitchens where there is a potential for water leaks of considerable volume.

We're in Spain and about to buy a house that has pale, high gloss tiles throughout . I can't keep the matt ones in our current home clean as it is.

Luckily the house also has shutters on every window :D.

    Afternoon All! :D

This week I defrosted and Kondoed both my freezers.
For the past few weeks, whenever I've frozen anything I've frozen them in oblong plastic tubs. Then once frozen I've removed the tub and put them in labelled plastic bags.
I've now "filed" them using the Konmari method!
    What do you think? :o
The two smaller plastic tubs are bugging me, but I'd run out of the oblong ones when they needed freezing. :p
I still have a couple of freezer drawers with stuff frozen in odd shapes that I couldn't "file" but any new items will be done the Konmari way. :D
I've also now got an inventory of the entire contents of my freezer which should make meal planning and shopping much easier. :T

Clutterfree I have freezer envy :) I have an inventory but sometimes its not updated and misshapen frozen blocks bug me too and I often freeze stuff in rectangular blocks but never thought of putting them on their side like that ......inspired :D
