Ooh, forgot to say.....I was at a friends on Monday and she said she was going to turn out a drawer of bits ( or as we Konverts say Komono
), you can imagine my delight. I lept at the chance and soon rounded up some fruit punnets and a mushroom one (thinking of Mav now).
Within a very short time I had coralled like items into punnets, encouraged the release of OOD face creams, multiple empty 'useful' pots etc. Although I left her to actually go through several punnets on her own after I had to go, I did get a hug of thanks for setting it in motion

We have quite a bit of storage in our bathrooms so, since I Kondoed them, now all I have "out" in the main bathroom is a bar of soap on the bath, liquid soap on the basin and a glass bottle of bubble bath on the windowsill. Boys toothbrushes, deodorants, razors, etc are in a cabinet above the basin.
In our bathroom all we have out is a bar of soap on the soap dish in the shower, my shower net and liquid soap on the basin.
Shampoos, shower gels, etc are in a built in cupboard and are now put back after use - looks so much tidier.
My skin care is in a large cabinet above the basin along with out toothbrushes, etc.
Make up is on my dressing table. Not a good idea to store it in a bathroom because of the heat.
PS I am also now only going to buy white bars of soap and liquid soap because any residue left by the family will less noticeable!!Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Bathroom: what is used daily is out on shelves. What is not used daily is in large walk in cupboard.
Spent the day in garden. Weather was glorious so made use of it. Kondoed a hop - well tried to - haven't kept in check this year and it had become bit rampant! Finished off the raspberries and red currants and had a plate full of greenhouse toms and cheese. Going to find getting back to eating at meal times a little hard . Have loved the grazing

I'm loving the bathroom descriptions, because I can at last brag about somewhere in my home that is under control! :rotfl:
As a chambermaid (do they still have those?) in a former life, I'm OCD about the bathroom and toilet.
My bathroom and toilet are separate.
The loo is just big enough for the toilet and to close the door. It has a (living!) plant on the window-sill. The bog-brush is in it's base on the (carpeted!) floor, on one side of the pedestal, the Duck on the other. A pine kitchen-roll holder has 4 toilet rolls and stands on the floor close by.
'Next door', the bathroom is small - the bath is the length of the room, with its width and that of the sink making the width of the room. No shower.
I have a bottle of shampoo and conditioner on the bath, with a flannel, and two towels. There is a small plant, battery toothbrush, toothpaste, magnifying mirror, and hand-wash on the window-sill above the sink. A bar of soap and nail-brush on the sink.
The bathroom cabinet on the wall to the left of the sink holds, face and hand creams, little pot of hair-pins, a pot of hair slides, a punnet of hair and face sachets, hair-elastics, clips and grips on cards, neatly filed. A pair of tweezers, antiseptic cream, and one travel shower gel (bought, not nicked!) are also in there.
My hair-brush, comb, a lidded glass jar of cottonwool balls, and bottle each of antiseptic liquid and mouthwash live on top of the cabinet with a 26 year-old spider plant.
Under the cabinet and edge of the sink, is an Aladdin paraffin heater. The foam bathroom cleaner, bath scrubber and a cloth live under the sink.
I am hoping, at some point in the future, to have the wall removed between the loo and bathroom, along with the bath, and have a shower cubicle installed. The boxed electric shower is part of my 'komono' - I bought it new, years ago, and have never afforded to get put in!
Hmm... maybe I should kondo that bathroom carpet (komono at the moment) that I bought over 20 years ago, and which is 'stored' on a shelf in a wardrobe! (It is waiting for the shower make-over!) Laying that sounds like and exciting diversion for tomorrow! Obviously, I was 'saving it for best'! :rotfl:
It's amazing that those 2 little rooms were perfectly adequate for 3 early-twenties and me, a few years ago, and we even managed, when my older 2 were also at home, together, for a while!Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

Thanks for all the bathroom descriptions, very helpful. I'm going to keep eyeing up the things that are permanently out (well the bits that belong to me anyway) and see what can go away. main reason it makes cleaning so much easier.
No kondoing for me tomorrow as I'm out for the day. But I need one of my large tote bags to take with me and realised it doesn't live with the other bags:eek:.0 -
Morning everyone - loving the bathroom descriptions! Ours is also mimimalistic - a curver chest of drawers by the basin holds most stuff with a box on top to keep OH deodorant, shaving foam, my body scrub and lotion and the mouthwash all together. In the shower we have soap on the soap dish and a bottle of shampoo. There is a clock on the window ledge and a sign that says "loo" above it - just in case anyone gets so tipsy they get mistaken!!! not likely. I am considering getting rid of that sign but it holds some happy memories so probably not - yet!
DS not visiting at B Hol now - sad face - but am just about to start planning and organising a big event for the ch shop I volunteer at. wish me luck!
Have a good day everyone.July 16 £95/£200

I kondo'd the kitchen cupboards the other day and threw out everything that was out of date but didn't get round to replacing the things I threw out - figured that if they were out of date we didn't use them enough to warrant replacing them that day. Last nights tea was to be homemade scotch eggs using our hens eggs but I threw away the flour and since it is a 10 mile round trip to the nearest shop we ended up scrapping that and having takeaway pizz instead. Not very MSE but it was the first thing I have regretted throwing away ;-)If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

Moral dilemma. Please help! Got 2 replies finally for my bike on freecycle. One just politely asks for bike, the other person begs for it desperately? I've always been a bir suspicious of begging emails as this tends to be scam tactics but then again could be genuine? ?Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

Go with your gut instinct, it's usually right.
Re bathrooms: how could I forget the mint green nailbrush that fails to bring me joy?! Should've bought a white one...Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.
