Hmm thanks. Its my first freecycle experience and I'm finding it a bit unnerving! ! I googled the phone number provided by the polite reply and it brought up a bike for sale on Gumtree from a bloke called Tony!! Might just make the extra effort and take it to Halfords who collect for a bike charity instead. Was hoping to avoid the drive there tho but at least I'm guessing they vet the recipients?!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

I always go for 'polite' and in my experience they are the ones most likely to turn up. I'm afraid I'm rather cynical about sob stories. ETA: sorry, just read your reply above! Hang on, you may get more replies.
Iqueen, go on - you know it makes sense, get that carpet down and start enjoying it! When you've saved up enough for the new bathroom you're not going to want 20-year old carpet in there.
I'm hoping to have mine redone next year (it's probably older than your carpet!) and I'm definitely going to have a vanity unit. It's a tiny room, like yours just the width of the bath and has sink and loo opposite each other. Makeup, deo and hair stuff are all kept in the bedroom anyway, but I'd love somewhere to keep loo rolls and cleaning stuff. And yes, although it's just me here, this bathroom is what the original builders considered suitable for a family of four!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Loving the bathroom stories. DH revamped our ensuite about 5 years ago & it now boasts a long vanity unit with the basin set in that holds all the spare loo rolls, cleaning stuff and all our toiletries & my hair dryers and hot brushes. It's also got lovely mirrored cabinets that we put the 'bits' in like deo face creams, paracetamol, spare toothpaste etc. The only things out are two beakers for toothpaste & toothbrush and my face flannel. My makeup is in an oval plastic basket from Lakeland (that gives me Joy!) with my lipsticks and brushes in empty cotton bud cartons. It's stored in the cabinet but brought out when I need it.
We did go to town on it with black sparkle tiles on the floor - everything else is white with a black & chrome edged border tile running all round. It gives me great Joy except when I have to keep cleaning the floor as the tiles show every mark/hair! (But I still love it)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

I have black and white tiles on my bathroom floor, in a chequered pattern, which suits the Edwardian terrace that I live in. It looks lovely for about 5 minutes after it has been cleaned, but like yours, every hair or speck of dust shows up0 -
My bathroom is being redone over the next few weeks. And the ensuite. I've decided on the shower, bath, loo, basin, taps etc for the main bathroom, and the replacement taps, basin and loo for the ensuite. But I still have to pick tiles (floor and wall) and paint for both...0

We had our 2 bathrooms done in January - cost an arm and a leg, but they were in desperate need.
.
Cos OH is bliddy useless with a drill, I wouldn't let him anywhere near the tiles so we have no cabinets. The loo rolls are in those "loo roll butler" things you can get these days and so stand on the floor. We then have a stack of drawers in each one which hold the other stuff. On the window cills are toothbrush stuff, soap and a mirror. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are on the bath side (en suite) and in shower cubicle (main bathroom). I have a drawer of extras in my wardrobe, these are gradually being used up with the aim of having an empty drawer and all extras will be in bathroom drawers.
I am celebrating today as my clever, beautiful, quirky FN (favourite niece - I know you aren't supposed to have favourites, but i do so nerand the others don't know....) just got A*AA in her A levels :T
Back on topicI am finally going to buy the picture I promised myself with my auntie's bracelet money - we were stood in the shop and i am saying to OH "but do you love it?" (thought "spark joy" may cause some looks in the shop), he is going "well, I like it..." Men! Anyways, i love it and am going to pick it up today...
I have spent the past couple of days painting old pine furniture - it really does give it a lease of life and is bringing much pleasure. I think i am probably kondo - ing a few pounds running up and down 2 flights of stairs carrying heavy furniture..
regrettably, later on, I have to Kondo some work - I am starting to consider work and whether the amount of time and stress is worth the money I earn..........
<<strokes (metaphorical) beard>>I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I've started the major de-clutter - using the KonMari method - fantastic - but has anyone got any good ideas for draw dividers and places to put my neatly folded clothes? Don't want to spend a fortune on buying boxes but also don't want to start with the sticky-back plastic and cardboard boxes0

My bathrooms are in desperate need too VJs mum (no flooring in either, loo in main bathroom won't flush properly despite insides of cistern being replaced, tiles (horrible) missing from when windows were done, mess where boxing was removed trying to fix loo, soil stack inside (being moved to outside) which pulls cold air from attic into the house, suite in main bathroom is a greeny yellow colour, taps are difficult to grip and turn on and off. No shower in either bathroom.
Storage is being built in round the bath and under the basin in the main bathroom. Tiles will be kept to a minimum, but I still need to choose them. I have no idea what I want. Apart from not wanting either room to look like a hotel...0 -
No Kondoing this week due to long days at work, except a packet of biscuits and half a banana and chocolate loaf....ooops....the bike dilemma is still bothering me. I found another 2 replies in my junk mail. You can put their emails into FB and it locates the person (note to anyone out there, you can turn off this feature, one of the first things I did when I joined FB) - seems like most of them are men (asking for a girls bike - wife, daughter, girlfriend?). It's just too much of a moral dilemma for me. Learning lesson for me - I'm not cut out for Freecycle! Think I'll just go with the first person to contact me, a Polish chap, very nice email and the Polish are so polite and such hard workers aren't they? Or maybe I'll just donate to the bike charity...ok, so no decision there yet then.
Feeling a bit left out that not done anything productive this week, so big plans are afoot for the weekends Kondoing...well, they will be when I get the energy to think about them :rotfl: Keeps me inspired though sharing stories and I'll definitely be looking around my bathroom tonight (from within my bubble bath....) to see what can be tidied up - definitely room there for improvement.
Question - do you keep your bathroom cleaners in a general cleaning cupboard (under the sink etc) or separately in the bathroom itself?Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
