Juliebunny in your position I think I would opt for Halfords with a "sorry, its gone" message to those who replied. Saves any moral dilemma over the requestors motives.
We have space in the cupboard below the boiler for cleaning stuff so its all kept there (stainless, marble & general bathroom cleaners - the downside of gorgeous fittings is their upkeep!)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I am starting to consider work and whether the amount of time and stress is worth the money I earn..........

I have had similar thoughts lately. Seriously considering a phased retirement in a few years time. Got myself a bit of a promotion end of term so going to make a good go of it as it is funding dependent ( isnt everything) and then take it from there.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Lots of people on here use shoe boxes,fruit/mushroom punnets. I haven't found a need to use dividers for clothes - think its a personal preference but am sold on mushroom punnets in the kitchen 'man drawer';)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Isn't it amazing what you can still kondo from a room that had previously been decluttered?! I've just attacked the dining room and have managed to remove a dozen items that lurked within cupboards. It is quite enlightening just how many of said items were gifted to us by a well-intentioned relative. I clearly need to get better at saying thanks, but no thanks
We'll have been in our house 5 years this September. It certainly is easier to part with things that I know for certain have never been used within that frame. Chocolate fondue set, I'm looking at you!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

Floss, thanks for this, I am going with this advice - think this is the only way I will be happy with where my bike is going. So it's off to Re-cycle (via Halfords) who send them off to Africa. Bit of extra hassle, but meh.
I can't face using old plastic food containers for storage, I spent so many years in poverty where I HAD to do things like this, but I do love an old biscuit tin with a nice picture on it. Got a ton of these in use around the house.
Pavlovs dog - I have found the only way to stop the influx of unwanted gifts is to talk to family about what you are doing, and if possible, get them on board too. Have a gift amnesty, agree that instead of exchanging gifts you will all do something nice for a day/meal and a birthday cake. The test will be my birthday later in the year but I reckon if they fail that, then after their birthdays when they realise I'm not buying THEM anything, they'll get on board. :T
I'm a bit nervous of those gift voucher cards, I mean, there is no proof of what you have put on them, right? And so many shops have gone under....
Loved this 'Chocolate fondue set, I'm looking at you!'
Me and a friend (a lurker here who lent me her MK book and got me started, you know who you are) were discussing at the weekend how we are both guilty of seeing something WE like, and feeling too guilty to buy it for ourselves, so we buy it, to give ourselves the pleasure of purchase, and then GIFT it to someone else - and it's probably really not to their taste or something they need. :cool:Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

Chocolate fondue set, I'm looking at you!
I have just done that in the kitchen and I was convinced there was nothing to go but large box of kitchenalia just deposited at CS. I have a Le Croosay fondue set that brings me joy. We love cheese though I would not thank you for a chocolate fondue - bleh I find them too sickly!! It will be out tomorrow night when I entertain the 'inner circle' of female friends - well I am providing the cheese, they are bringing the restBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

This morning I kondoed a couple of tea bags in the bin.
Last week when I sorted through my kitchen cupboards I realised that we have quite a few containers with tea bags. I put the nearly empty ones at the front to force myself to start using them.
The tea I had this morning didn't taste nice hence probably why they ended up at the back of the cupboard in the first place. Using the KM method it didn't give me any joy so it ended up in the bin instead. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. When I did that cupboard earlier this week, I discovered a tin full of 'Lady Grey' teabags. Now I can't stand Earl Grey tea, but I do keep a box as I have several friends who drink it. Why on earth I had a horrible hybrid teabag, I can't imagine - I binned the whole lot as I'm never going to use them and nor are my friends. Felt a bit bad, but the space in my cupboard feels better than the guilt!
Re bathroom cleaners, I keep mine in the bathroom so I can do a quick swipe round when needed. I don't have a regular cleaning routine (maybe I should?) and if I had to go downstairs to fetch them it'd never get done. The cloth goes in the wash each time, so I always have a clean one waiting, I have several in the 'bathroom' designated colour.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. I'm a bit late to the bathroom discussion but here goes... on the bath is shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. On the sink/loo top (it's one of those hidden cisterns with a long shelf connected to the sink) is toothbrushes and toothpaste in a pot, cotton buds in a glass jar, mouthwash and DH's shaving stuff since he refuses to put it away. Behind the door is a small bin and loo roll tower - both mostly there to stop the door going back too far and hitting the towel rail making an awful noise! The rail is quite chunky so a regular door stopper wasn't long enough to prevent this. Towels on the rail, obviously.
The undersink cupboard holds bathroom cleaning supplies, a tub of first aid things, tub of medicines, small tub for bits like nail clippers and tweezers, then my toiletries that I need to go through again because I keep keeping them but not really using them enough to justify their existence. Particularly hair products, I keep it for when I do set my hair but most of the time I let it just be it's crazy boho self. Not sure what to do about those still, any advice?
No real Kondoing the past few days, have been busy prepping for an interview. Still not feeling ready, I've managed to get most of my jobs through word of mouth so have only been on two interviews in my life. :eek:0 -
