My chest of drawers is nicely sorted with only the knickers that fit me kept (I lost a stone last year so needed new knicks, but had kept the old ones...) and only the bras that aren't unjoyful kept - don't know that any of my bras are really joyful, but much needed! Sock drawer looks lovely, t shirts well organised and work stuff tidily filed upright for September :)

My jumpers are in a hanging organiser thingy but now folded and filed on edge rather than laid flat in each section, and my knit dresses are in one section rather than stretching on hangers.

I am still loosing weight so clothes will need readdressing in the future when they are too big for me (such optimism!).

I sorted DS2's COD as well, only getting rid of lurking too small stuff - DS2 has Asperger's and has always struggled with getting his clothes out of the drawers by himself, but he is doing it unprompted now! DS1 laughed at me the other day for returning his clean washing with his vest tops neatly filed in a tomato tub...

I haven't really looked at jewellery yet and I'm sure I'll go through everything again when I've read the book. But I have the list linked earlier in the thread, and see that books are my next category... Eek!

So I started with the pile of books on my bedroom floor from last time DS1 sorted his books out and got rid of most of them (he did retrieve 2 Harry Potter books before they went), then went through the bookcase on the landing and took off over half the books that were on it. And the various junk that had drifted onto it...

Got rid of 5 bags to chazzer this morning, took the used batteries and (few) unusable carrier bags to the supermarket when I did the shopping. Hope to get up before the bin men come in the morning so I can put a clear bin liner of excess recycling out as well as the clear bag of textiles for ragging - they will take them, but I don't want to leave them out overnight for the neighbourhood mice to go in and then the neighbourhood cats to shred...

That will leave the (expanding) bag of various books etc to return to mum, bin liner of hand me downs for middle sis, shopping trolley full of books from today to take to a chazzer tomorrow, denby plates from the set ExHusband chose when we got married to go to a chazzer by car. And everything else I haven't got to yet...

I've emptied another chest of drawers. The few bits I did have in there have been allocated places elsewhere and a few bits have been liberated. No chance of liberating the chest of drawers though
..not yet anyway...I need to work on hubby first. Till then it will remain empty.

Well done Judi I have the same problem with a piece of furniture. Reminds me of the Clash song 'Shall I go or should I stay now ':rotfl:If I stay there will be trouble if I go it will be double :D

So like you I am still working on this one at the moment I have shoes in there but these can be moved into another empty space :) Will work on this after the fete ;)

silvasava It is a sad story and I would feel the same but the thing is what do we do with these things that someone has cherished ? We dont want them in our homes so I suppose we have to let them go to someone who will love them and then the cycle starts all over again.

I am doing a pretty good job of reducing the cleaning stuff in the cupboard under the sink.I do not think I have ever seen it so empty so quite proud of myself for that one :A I even have a bit of spare space in there ;) Still need a few more things used up and not replaced.I still feel joy when something is used up and goes out of the house :D Its strange how this process changes your thoughts so much and how you get joy out of little things that you wouldnt have even thought about before.

The whole kondoing thing has really been an eye opener for me and am so glad I started on this rocky rocky road.

The other good thing is that when my Son has to clear my house I reckon he would only need to have half a day off work and that would include travelling time of 2 hours each way :rotfl::rotfl:He can also have the Shirehorse back at that point as that is still in the garage then I can pass the buck on to him ;)

Reducing the carp so as to leave less for those left behind to have to redistribute... A family friend mentioned that she was having a big clearout because she didn't want her daughter to have to deal with it all when the time came.

    My mum's response was.....
oh, why bother? Let them do it when you're gone.:mad:

And if you could see my parents large 4bed house, which, incidently is 400+ miles from me, you'd know that several people and quite a few skips will probably be the only option as both my brother and I work and have other family to take care of.

BTW, I had tried to start the reduction ages ago, just to make life simpler for her and dad (easier to clean, find things, get some cash for selling some bits) but my gentle efforts were rebuffed in something approaching panic.

I suppose all I can do is deal with my own stuff and make sure that future gifts to parents are consumable / experiences so as not to add to the crud!!

    Moan over.

On to joyous things. Today DH and I have the day off and we are meeting very dear friends at some lovely gardens for a walk round, a good natter and some tea and cake. Life doesn't get much better than that, does it? :D:D

Done a freezer on saturday. Dogs still smiling at having enjoyed the freezer burnt meat.

Realise I need to stop buying and start eating. 2 big chest freezers full and another house freezer drawers crammed full. am definitely a hoarder of food.

Clothes still talking to me. Need a full day with energy and DD to tackle that job.

    Small steps

Mavs thing with her colour lady made me think - when she was asked to show her favourite item of clothing - what would i choose?

I decided I would choose my shift dress which is originally from N*xt but i got in a chazzer, it falls to just above my knee and i wear it with black tights and ballet pumps. I dress it down with a black "boyfriend" cardi or up with a red designer jacket (also from the chazzer). Those two together (dress and jacket) are the two most expensive things I have ever got from a chazzer. So I am keeping my eye open for a shift dress or two, but only when i find the right thing will i purr - chase, whether it be from the Bay of E or chazzer or new.

So, what about you guys, what is your favourite single item of clothing?

I managed to eliminate one maxi-dress from my collection as I know it doesn't fit, I'm holding on to the others for the summer and for my honeymoon in November.

I'll off-load some more of them after that.

Have at least one really nice evening gown that I need to sell as it's too small, but need to sort my ebay account out first, it was arguing with me about my password last time I tried using it!

A dress... i have a few. They didnt cost a lot. Some of them are brightly coloured and not black. I'm trying to break the habit of buying black but its hard.
