Finally took that trip to the recycle centre and CS yesterday
Experienced something new .........I usually drop off at CS when vehicle restrictions are lifted at the end of the day. Whilst DD was helping me get bags out of car she was approached by a woman asking for the bag of stuff as she was homeless and needed clothes.....DD politely refused and said she was donating them to the CS. The woman then approached me and said she was on the streets, had no money and would I give her my bags. I'm afraid I also politely refused and took them into shop. The woman was then joined by a man and both of them entered the shop looking at clothes. I felt a bit uneasy because the 2 'elderly' assistants in the shop where not really taking any notice - just having a really good natter! I felt there was a potential for stuff to 'disappear'...........we had another errand to run so only stayed about 5 mins. We left them as the only people in the shop and it was almost closing time. Cant help feeling it was not a good situation especially I happen to know that the woman in question is not homeless as I know where she lives!
Anyway............enforced digital kondo today! Yesterday I deleted something I should not have done which meant 1) I was in trouble with OH our in-house IT expert and 2) once it was sorted all my emails going back 2 years where downloaded - even those 'permanently ' deleted.........all 25388 of them:eek: So I spent sometime last night deleting and today I shall do the rest...at intervals:)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Must have been a very uncomfortable experience for you and your DD. wonder if it's worth ringing the shop and speaking to the manager and explaining what happened.
I had a similar thing happen, we'd parked away from the shop and had to walk passed the big issue seller. She saw us with the bags and boxes, (Me Dh and DS1) and quickly came over and said leave them with me I can use the stuff in them to save you taking it, then got a really expensive looking phone out to get someone to come and collect them. Dh said no sorry they are going to the Cs we support. He was convinced they'd end up at the local cash for clothes or Carboot.
Glad you got your putter sorted out.SPC~12 ot 124

Yesterday went awry! Spent my 'kondo push-forward-afternoon' on rhe phone for 3 hours, trying to help a good friend with a difficult problem. I think I helped her to kondo part of her concerns, but it left me wrung out.Anyway............enforced digital kondo today! Ironically, my planned kondo got sidetracked yesterday as I was on the phone for hours too. Nothing as helpful as supporting a friend though. My call was to Virgin/Talk Talk because my phone was churning up emails from years ago and filling the inbox! Eventually they somehow managed to alter the settings so that instead of coming in on my phone they all flooded into the computer instead! I need to get back to them but I haven't the energy to face it today. I'm sick of explaining the problem.
I've kondoed the joyful mahogany chest in the hall this morning. So gloves, scarves, table linen and mats, handbags and a drawer of komono (keys, torch etc) all sorted. DH even went through his scarves and gloves after I laid them out on the dining room table for him to look through.
I now can't wait to finish the punnet of mushrooms in the fridge but have a dilemma whether to use it for keys in the drawer or for the packets (couscous etc) in the kitchen cupboard.;)0 -
Cleared out several sets of duvet covers, pillowcases and sheets that pre-date my relationship with OH, both from my stock and his. Need to get this a home, OH knows the local women's refuge through his work, maybe they'd need some sets?
Also chucked out some random carp from the kitchen.Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Jan 2012: £16,000+ [STRIKE] Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Sep 2013: £13,023 [/STRIKE]

Hello everyone
Some Great Kondoing going on, especially Lola - thaT is impressive.
I have a bag of books in the car ready to go, and a pile of plants and clippings drying on the path. Our council don't take them now, I have to take them to the tip so I don't like to bag them up until I'm ready to go otherwise they get all slimy and horrible.
I made a start on the photos, cleared out all the obvious ones and now just need to put them in a couple of nice albums and neatly label them all. . Ive reduced them from 6 albums and several boxes and to about two albums so I feel quite chuffed at tnat.
Jewellery - I sorted out all the fashion jewellery and bought some new clasps and fasteners. I have gone over to magnetic ones now because I find them so much easier, so,tonight I'm going to sit and revamp my jewellery.
Ive still got to,sort out the good jewellery yet though, going to,sell some amd have the rest reset or made Into to something else.
And I'm amassing a pile of stuff which im going to try and sell at the auction house. I know it sounds mean but some of it is probably quite valuable so I ought to at least get some valuations before I make a decision on how best to Kondo them.
I need to do another paperwork cull but need to buy another shredder first.
Ive still got a long way to go but the house definitely is starting to breathe more freely.0 -
mrs-moneypenny, what a beautiful dragonfly! I used sit for ages watching them flying over my pond or laying eggs there.
(Can't find the pond now, under all the brambles!
)
juliebunny, my friend has helped me out in rough times, too. We often speak on the phone for that long anyway - with 2 coffee-breaks, so it doesn't cost anything! :rotfl:
I discovered (about 2-3 months ago), how joyful being happy is, and now I won't let go of it! Yes, sometimes something will make me a little bit cheesed off, but I nip it in the bud, so it can't take root and grow again. Even my cancer diagnosis a month ago, didn't faze me at all!
If I, the (previously) Ultimate Pessimist, can do it - anyone can!
Igamogam, last week our local paper (Cambrian News!) carried an item about bags of donations being left outside the doors of cazzers being stolen. I had been tempted to take my sacks, out-of-hours because of the dire parking, but thought that might happen.
We don't have any cash-for-clothes shops here, so I can't imagine what the thieves do with items that they can't sell. Possibly just dump them in the nearest (landfill!) bin?
maman, so, it's mushrooms again this week? :rotfl:
Glad to see that successful Konverts are now reaping the joyful reward of 'filling gaps in their wardobes' prudently and with a clear conscience! :A
:coffee: and back to it! :j
Eeek! Just closed the tab... thank goodness for History and Recently Closed Tabs, at the top of the page - my post re-appeared, intact!

Jute bags. Goodness that was bugging me!! Its the start of the decline.......I'm on a long weekend so hopefully the weekend will bring sunshine and happy kondoing to everyone! My sister is coming round shortly to sift through my bags - I've given her the talk about being really sure she will use something before she moves my rubbish to her house....Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

Fortunately I like them very much. Might even buy a family size pack to hold the gloves!;)
Did another cupboard this afternoon, a built in one in guest room. I use part of it as a storecupboard for packets and tines. I found 11 tins of butterbeans!!
Just need a recipe for butterbeans and mushrooms!:rotfl:
Avoided doing sentimental stuff (photo albums also live in this cupboard). It's amazing that you've got down to 2 albums LL:T. I thought I was seeing things when I read that.
I know MK doesn't really advocate a cupboard at a time but I'm working on what she does recommend that is getting things into fitted cupboards and storing things together from the same category. So plenty of room now in this cupboard to store things I really need/want.

Oh dear. Been at my poor mums. She was having a sort through the plastic drawers she keeps stationery etc in. Afraid I interfered....:rotfl:
"Mum, why do you have 3 staplers?"
"In case one breaks!"
"So you can staple with both hands at the same time?"
"OK, one can go"
"Why would you need two? Would the world stop turning if you only had one and it broke? Could you use a paper clip?" (Holds up unopened box of paper clips). "When was the last time you stapled something anyway?"
"OK but I'm keeping one, and these rubber bands..." (Perished ones, lol).
Much later:
"Mum do you want these mailing bags?"
"Yes, that's what I wanted a rubber band for, to hold them together!"
<three attempts sees three snapped, perished rubber bands, and nothing to hold the mailing bags together>
"Perhaps you could staple them?" Says I, snorting with laughter:rotfl:
Perished rubber bands got thrown at me!
:rotfl:
She did take my "help" in good humour thoughBossymoo

Just need a recipe for butterbeans and mushrooms!:rotfl:
Remove the outer skins from a tin of butterbeans. Fry 140g of chopped mushrooms in a tablespoon of butter and a splash of oil (stops the butter burning) with a minced clove of garlic, a teaspoon ground black pepper, half a teaspoon of ground allspice and half a teaspoon of dried thyme. Fry until fairly dry. Put in a food processor with the butter beans and half a teaspoon of salt and process until you have your preferred pate texture. Adding a tablespoon of two of cream enhances the mouth feel (but adds the calories). Chill for at least 15 minutes and even better stood overnight.0
