Do I need 2 pastry forks?

They bring me joy but there are only 2.

I have been going through the cupboards in the kitchen thinking about my joyful items. I have Christmas cutlery and crockery. Used once a year maybe twice but takes up a whole cupboard. It brings me joy but it is a Christmas magazine type of joy. Sparkly table, family in Christmas jumpers type of thing.

Then I have a drawer full of things for baking- sprinkles and gold spray for cakes. I like baking but it is not something I do that much. I am not even sure what is in date.

I will empty the drawers and cupboard and have a think. I might even do some baking and get some stuff out of the way.

Sorry for the ramble but still not sure about the pastry forks.

    HAVE to share, so proud:)

We are having building work done atm and we have had to move all the bedroom furniture into another room. The builders were helping to move the heavy furniture including a COD. So I took out each of the drawers so they could move the frame then put the drawers back in.

Blimey, they said, how do you manage to get so much stuff in so neatly?

I think there are a couple of young men going home to fold their tee shirts so that they can file them vertically:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Blimey, well done Mary

I have [STRIKE]foisted[/STRIKE] er donated the three tier electric steamer to a colleague - who asked for it. and chucked the wi fit mat that none of us knew what the point of it is.

I am about to donate back half a ton (not quite literally) of bubble wrap that came with new furniture, back to the shop where we bought said furniture.

I went to the pound shop yesterday where i stocked up on shampoos, deodorants, shower gel etc. I never quite got round to putting them away - this morning i noticed that OH had not only put them away, but he had put them in their proper compartments (fruit punnets) in the wardrobe :T
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Drusilla, I can't answer the question of the pastry forks - depends how often you eat eclairs, I guess! Re the Christmas stuff though, I keep mine in the loft with the Christmas decs. You only need it for a few weeks of the year so it doesn't deserve to take up 'prime real estate' in your kitchen, but if it brings you joy (and mine does although I only have a few items) then you should keep it.

I bought an extra set of six small forks which means I have enough to use for a starter and pudding without washing up. So I got rid of the fish forks and pastry forks

Returned from holiday Wednesday evening and by Thursday evening clothes washed and dried and put away in kondoed drawers and wardrobes. Usually takes a week. A few bits of ironing to do today. A few things stayed in Spain including my favourite fine cotton sarong which I have had at least 20 years as I ripped it and some newish but not joyful shorts which got ink all over from leaking biro. Packing was so much easier as well as I could really see what I have. Off to Greece 2 weeks tomorrow with DG10 so I am going to try to live out of my freezer and only shop for essentials.

  • Morning everyone - up early and really excited as today is my colour day!!! Have missed loads of bargains in ch shop in the past few days as I won't buy until later today. Never mind!

Feel sad about your negative experiences with the ch shop drops - but "half inching" happens all the time! Well done for handling it how you did. x It makes me so sad that they do it though. There are few volunteers on each shift, often elderly, and with filling up, pricing and tidying and culling and serving customers you can't have eyes in the back of your head as well!

Not much kondoing done this week but am looking forward to the weekend when I have only one extra ch shop shift. Next week I should be able to plough on much better and perhaps catch up with some of you - you are all stars!x

  • I finally got started in the kitchen yesterday. I knew it was going to be a long job - took all day yesterday and I don't even seem to have done that much but lots of stuff now out of the house in recycling or in CS.

So far in the kitchen I have:
    1. Kondoed my preserve making stockpile. Got rid of 2 bucket loads of empty jam jars. I still have quite a lot left but they now only take up one shelf in a cupboard after being stored in various locations. I love that instruction for Marie Kondo to keep things in one category together as much as possible. It's really worked for me with clothes, bags etc and I can see it working well in the kitchen too.

    2. Kondoed some of my baking stuff. Still got to sort through flour, caster sugar etc

    3. Kondoed one cupboard that had an assortment of Tupperware, oven-proof dishes, casserole dishes, flasks, jugs etc. It looks fantastic now. I can actually see what's in there and access things easily without having to take other stuff out first. I have an unbelievable 8 casserole style dishes heading out to the CS today.

No kondoing in the kitchen today as I have moved some furniture in there out of the living room. My old gas fire is coming out today in preparation for me putting a wood burning stove in.

    Happy Friday everyone.

    Morning all.
    Hope everyone is well
I'd got a oh box of cutlery that I won and used only at Easter Christmas and new year, and used the crabby mismatched rather cheap cutlery the rest of the year.mdecided last year to kondo all the cheap cutlery and use the 'posh' stuff all the time. It wasn't until Dh started looking at nice cutlery sets and said I think we should get some nicer cutlery as ours doesn't feel nice to use. So the good stuff came down, and if somehow if wears out we can buy another nice set to use all the time.

Bin day here so all the bags and bins have been emptied so I can start again.
Kondoed a load of in my opinion junk off DS2s floor piled it all in a box and gave him that and a rubbish bag and told him to go through it, 95% was binned.
Moved about 9 puzzles from his room there are all maps for much younger children, I think they are destined for the Cs after the holiday.

some lovely and inspiring kondoing being done.
