Kondoed my grey hairs earlier. I must say, it never said "copper" on the box  thankfully it seems to be one of my "colours".
Perhaps the hair dye company were trying a minimalist approach to their descriptions on packaging lol.
I must say, I'm wearing a stone / gold coloured knit top, with the shimmer thread. It's not supposed to be my palette but I do love it and have been told this one suits me so there
Also loving reading about all the life changing stuff!Bossymoo

I've been sent here by a friend, who is a lurker and lent me her MK book last year. It was LIFE changing! I'm on the way to becoming a converted ex hoarder - her methods and ideology have really struck a chord with me, where years of 'I'll just sort out one drawer today' and an alarming toiletries stash have failed me!
I've made a good start but seem to have got stuck now....does anyone have a list of categories they would be happy to share with me please?
I ' Collect cats':rotfl: so the idea is to get my house de-cluttered, then give it a mass 'Spring clean' and then re-decorate and try and stay on top of it. Then, to start getting my garden sorted, hopefully next Spring.
So far I have de-cluttered bags and bags of clothes, to a wonderful charity I support, some smellies, stationa(e?)ry, a few shoes/bags (need a second sift on that) my old mobile phones, and jewellery.
Still seems like a LOT of clutter left behind though! I need a bit more inspiration (kick up the a$£")!
And another question, has anyone applied this thinking to other areas of their lives? Friends, activities, ex boyfriends, etc....?
Bit in Red Julie what type of cats ? Real cats or like china Birthday presents Christmas presents, and such like, because in this world if you show one bit of liking towards any animal Bird,Fish or Chickens ( I know this one well) You will be inundated with the damn things for evermore :mad::mad:
My tip and it works for me is to say you hate Cats ,Dogs, Chickens,Cute puppies,Cute kittens, Ducks ,Geese, owls (thats a big one plenty of owl carp about) Butterflies,Dragon flies, Then go down the flower route you hate all of them. Make this perfectly clear over and over and over again
And be prepared to still keep getting the bl**dy things year after year. Chicken tray anyone ? :rotfl:
Sorry Julie if its real cats :)If not put this plan into place as soon as possible as it really will be never ending.
So please can you explain the 'cat' thing as we need to know why you mentioned that. As thats going to bring you to where to go next and how to go about itBut cats are the clue here

edited to say dont forget you also hate fairies (thats a huge section) Cherubs and horses ! how the hell can I forget that one.I still have that shirehorse in the garage

You forgot to mention Buddhas in your list of things not to collect. I flirted with feng shui a few years ago and ended up getting a shelf full of the chubby grinning little fellas.
I've got a tortoise so have several ornamental versions of those but thankfully they can all live outdoors so are scattered amongst the flowerbeds.
I do have four little ornamental angels that watch over the photo of my baby niece who tragically could not stay with us. They bring me comfort rather than joy but I can now smile in memory of the joy she bought us during her fleeting visit so they stay on show. But I worry that any more would look like a shrine so they will not be added to.
I thought my cupboards were reasonably tidy but I've kondoed a carrier bag of CS stuff and also a carrier of rubbish from them so a coffee is called for while I despatch it to its correct places.
Think we will do a Cs run again at the weekend as mil has asked for some shopping from near to the Cs.SPC~12 ot 124

Julie you also need to read back though this thread as yes many of us have kondo'd friends, husbands' and deal with family totally different than we used to :rotfl: My iTwin kondoed a friend of 65 years out of her life so YES YES YES
But if you have a few days :rotfl:to kondo have a read back as it will really point you in the right direction as where to go next
Glad DH made you laugh MaddieThinking about it I cant believe he had it on  Its the type you pull over your head so it must have been so hard for him to get it on :rotfl:And it was 6.30 am so even harder
Why he just didnt carry it and then say what he did I will never know :rotfl: I do now remember I said 'Did you root though that great big pile ? and he said no it was on the top.
Mmm But I dont think it was :rotfl:I will question himWhen he gets in or maybe I will say Mmmm' Just one more thing ' Are you SURE it was on the top of the pile'

Ha ha, you ladies are funnyyyy!!!
Thanks for the link to the AWESOME list Bigjenny!!
Happily, the people who would have been largely responsible for buying me a lot of cat carp are also totally onboard with the de-cluttering so we've made a mutual agreement!!
One thing I've found, be careful who you let intercept your CS bags, as invariably you will get the 'oi, gave you that, can't believe you are getting rid of it....' argh! Usually my sister, finding some awful thing she bought me that is NOTHING like anything she has ever seen me use or wear but thinks I SHOULD like!! Scream!
I 'collect' real cats - well, I used to foster for a cat rescue and was pretty poor at giving them back. Pets are awesome, but boy do they trash the house. Anyway, I'm 'not allowed' (my ban) any more, so I want to re-claim my house, tidy/fix it up and make it nice for me to live in - but not so bare and sterile that it's boring for them...compromise will be the name of the game.
Ooh and yes bossymoo, I also need to declutter a few grey hairs....
I was a bit daunted to read the whole thread, it's massssshoooove! Perhaps a nice Sunday morning in bed with the Kindle is in order!
Thanks for the warm welcome.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
DS1 has just got in from work so amongst the usual daily catch up chat I mentioned a piece of that plane that disappeared had been found, his jaw dropped and he said you what!! So I repeated it. He then laughed and said he'd misunderstood and thought I said I'd found a piece. He said I know you've cleared some stuff that hasn't been moved in a while but I didn't think we'd been hiding that in the clutter.
Bedroom is looking so much better now the dressing table has been kondoed of excess. All I need to do in there now is change the bedding and run the dysoned round and it will be done.
Going to start saving plastic cress boxes as I've just realised they will be ideal for the electronic cables drawer.SPC~12 ot 124

Real cats are fine JulieBut if you cut what we kondites call 'komono' The cat carp is in here';) Get rid of all that usless komono. Then you will be able to see the wood from the trees .
I had 8 cats  at one time so I do know what you mean they do trash the place bless em.
You need to stop using the word declutter as that is banned on here :rotfl:As decluttering is something we have to do again and again and again as we all know. But kondoing is once and once onlyYou change in ways you wouldnt believe. You are a different person once kondoing kicks in. Decluttering you are the same person chasing your tail and never getting anywhere
Good luck and welcome to MK where life is never dull but bright shiny and joyful
