Back from my holidays. Folded and rolled everything I should have and it was perfect, even down to the linen skirt. Not a crease in sight. How does this work?! I don't know but all I do know is my knicker drawer looked just the same as it does at home and all my clothes were completely uncreased. Very happy to say the least. Oh and yes they didn't take up as much room as they would have done if I hadn't folded them the Kondo way. :)
  • Judi ... that's made me laugh, I hope you're not cooking his tea tonight! That dress looks lovely, I was just thinking that a scarf would set it off well. I love scarves. I had to look up 'lagenlook' - never heard of it! I don't think it'll work for me as I'm better in fitted stuff.

Re the personal shopper, I have done this several times - the last few were Debenhams. Most department stores offer this, and I think M&S do it in some stores? You usually have to book ahead. When I did it in London, you got offered tea and coffee, and a really big private changing room. The PS asked a few questions, summed up my size, height etc and then disappeared to collect stuff while I read magazines and drank the coffee. Then she came back with armfuls of clothes, it's great because everything fitted; she had picked out belts, t-shirts etc to go with things, and there was absolutely no pressure to buy. If you choose a store that has a lot of franchises, you'll get a wide range of prices and there was plenty of time to study the price tags in private and make decisions. When I used it, I had saved up and had a specific need to fill (work clothes, mainly) - as someone who loathes clothes shopping it actually made it quite enjoyable. Sometimes they picked out things that I thought were not my style, but some of the things they suggested were stuff I wouldn't have tried on but really liked.

If you're trying to find a new look, or have changed shape, or want something for a special occasion I really recommend it.

I've just been really brave and kondoed some photos, went through the boxes of 100s that we have and found after a while is was quite easy to weed through the blurry out of focus ones of the children or Christmases and birthdays where you haven't really caught anything apart from the backs of heads or missing heads! Those and lots of weddings we'd attended that ended in divorce and we just plain aren't in touch any more.
I'm shredding the ones that have recognisable faces in but flowers, scenery hotAir balloons etc are just being binned.
It did bring me joy looking through the better ones that I'm keeping, I've only done 5 boxes out of the cupboard full we have but its a start.

Once the nonjoyful ones are all weed out I really need to sort them better as they are all out of sync and none have dates or occasions on. Then I want to make the children a collection of their own childhood photos in an album of some sort. A while ago I went through the school photos that are kept upstairs and did them a set of those each.
Need to think about tea soon ( now would be good as I'm waiting for the shredder to cool done it seems to need more coffee breaks than me!

Love the dress judi, I like polls scarf idea or chunky necklace? I've got a similar one I haven't worn in ages. Got it when expecting so it's at least 15 years old so may try a scarf with that.

Jellybaby - its well worth investigating having your 'unjoyful' jewellery made into something you will wear & cherish. I had my grandfather's signet ring, my mothers wedding ring and mine ( pattern had worn off!) made into a new wedding ring - It brings me very great joy :)

Me: "I think this dress needs a silver coloured belt to accentuate my waist".

Him: "You havent got a waist".

    Why do i bother.:(

Why indeed! That's cruel and uncalled for. Was he joking?

ETA: I like the dress and I think a silver belt would look good.

My reply would be "I have big waste to declutter, ie. a waste of joyless space, so shut it sunshine!"

Another scarf lover here, I have a good array of pashminas that I have collected over the past dozen years or so, they have to be natural fibres for me, but lots have come from clothes agencies, charity shops or TK-Maxx. At this time of year I wear the very long floaty viscose ones, mostly tied in pashmina fashion too. A good website for those that are not confident trying them (that was me once:rotfl::rotfl: is this one

Does anyone know if one can buy the clothes matching colour cards or fabrics anywhere? I was matched as cool winter many years ago, but lost my swatches, whilst I am pretty good at buying the right colours, sometimes I do get the wrong tones and it does make quite a difference, I also found them really useful for choosing accessories.

No just honest and insensitive. He could have dressed it up a bit though.:D

Never thought of a scarf. Fibrant red or fuschia pink... Love the idea!

Judi men eh... A red or pink scarf would look great with the dress.

When I couldn't sleep last night thanks to OH snoring I made a mental list of what clothes I would need for my new outfits:rotfl:

Maddie I had to google lagenlook, I like the layered look. Something else to consider :rotfl:

I don't have a clue though what are my colours, I have lots of different colours in my wardrobe and don't really know what suits me and what doesn't. Is there any way I can find out for myself?
