Oops - I really started something!!
Silvasava - yes it is CMB I am going to see. A top consultant is about 20 miles away. I have been looking at the site for years and have decided to treat myself! I have lost 5 and a half stone over 18 months and have kept it off for the last 6. It was a big birthday recently so I am putting all my present money towards it. I feel as Katsu said that it will be worth every penny going forward into the future and as I volunteer in a lovely charity shop what doesn't suit will go there and I'll soon find some replacements!
I am sure that I would never had taken this step without commencing my Kondo journey. Although I am still only a small way into it - I feel so much better about me and life in general.
Thank you all for your ideas and inspiration on this thread. xJuly 16 £95/£200

Thanks for the idea re a colour consultant...at birthday, mothers day, christmas I don't really need anything, so generally ask for compost (don't laugh...it's useful)..but will put this on my wish list....in fact I may even put my christmas stocking wish list up on the side of the kitchen unit NOW...as I often think of things mid year, but i forget by Christmas.
And face facts, it's not going to add to clutter is it?0 -
iQueen - great link - especially the article on minimalism - really resonates with the Kondo ethos.
Katsume too although mine was with CMB.
Just the two of us Well done with the weight loss :T Hope you have a great time - it can really be an eye opener and it makes life so much easier. TBH i wish there had been something like this around when I was a teenager - would have avoided some disastrous choices :eek:Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
All this talk of colour consultants - I went for a CmB consultation about 22 or so years ago. One of the things I kondo-d in the last few months was my CmB wallet of colour swatches from then

It's interesting reading. I've never had mine done but I know I'm cool-tones with contrasting dark hair. So a cool, clear winter depending on which site you choose
But they are all correct in that strong jewel tones suit me and gold / yellow really doesn't. On looking in my newly kondoed drawers I don't appear to have anything of that shade for some reasonhappily it says I can rock black and white, which is good as I'm going out on Friday, and just looked in my newly kondoed wardrobe and picked up a black and white dress :T
I even have black and white nail wraps on my toes, plus a plum colour on my nails - hurrah!
Much food for thought!Bossymoo

@greent But did you take on board the colours suggested and suited for you??0

Springdreams, the main reason I've come off paperwork is ive misplaced my roll of recycng bags, I won't not recycle so I have a pile of stuff waiting to fill bags with but don't think I'll be able to get any now till bin day unless I can kadge some off a neighbour.
DVDs are going well, another 8 are going to work tomorrow and dd3 and her fella blaged 12 when they popped round tonight.
They are only worth between 11p and 20p each on ziffit so were are going down the warm fuzzy feeling well get by giving them away. Dh is going to take a boxful into work and suggest people help themselves but just pop something in a Cs collecting tin. Any that don't get taken will go to the Cs.
While you can't actually see what I've done now the lounge is tidied and cupboard doors are shut it feels clearer in there and aloug only one visible shelf has been cleared Dh said how much better the room feels now they've been cleared. Note he said FEELS better not looks better. I think he's starting to get it as well

I have been very brave....
I have "done" the harry Potter cupboard
You know, the one under the stairs
Where there might be s p i d e r s
Which there were, but only little ones - I was a brave girl, only once did I say out loud "come on, you can do this - stop being a wuss" :rotfl:
The cupboard under the stairs is definitely a category in itself - but also has sub categories, shoe cleaning, lightbulbs, batteries, etc
Other Kondoing had freed up a set of plastic drawers from DDs bedroom so that has now been positioned under stairs with said sub categories now in it. I don't need to buy lightbulbs for a whileor batteries, or shoe polish
It has also meant there is space to store bottles of water to help in any situation where water might be turned off.
Anyone know what i can do with a twice used electric veg steamer? It was a mistake buy (I am finding this easier to say now) - I don't think the chazzers take electrics
Also, I have freed up so many storage containers that i don't quite know what to do with them? i have several large plastic containers and under bed storage thingy's as well as about 5 smaller baskets. I will keep for a while until other stuff has been done.
I did jewellery again today - of the various (maybe 12?) necklaces hanging in my bedroom, I have only kept 3. When i asked if they sparked joy, only these three did. I relooked at some costume earrings and bracelets - they've all gone. it seems that the only bracelets that spark joy (apart from 2 of my aunties that were left to me) are rather more bangle than bead. Who knew?
My bin only got emptied today and is more than half full - it doesn't get emtied again for a fortnight, so i might have to slow down.:rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0
