peaceandfreedom, I agree with, mav, (naturally, as we are iTwins, separated at birth, somehow! :rotfl:)
Life is 'nasty, brutish and short', and the only thing we can aim for really, is being as happy and content as possible, while it lasts. Money, possessions, houses, things, can make life more bearable, sometimes, but we owe it to ouselves to be happy.
I gave up 2 homes that were more modern and comfortable than the one I now (almost) own. However, nothing compares with my liberation and freedom, which are worth so much more to me. I am free! I make my own decisions about my life, and account to me, for my mistakes, omissions and triumphs. Nothing to beat it! I am gloriously happy!
It's a scary decision, especially when you have children, but there is advice and support out there, or even on MSE. It seems much harder than it actually is. The rewards are beyond price!
I now have a letter to compose and get ready for the post. Then I'm going to do some cleaning! (Thanks, MK!) I also have a long list of kondo-related tasks, that need to be pulled together, as I'm in danger of missing the 'wood for the trees'! :rotfl:Later, I shall be surfing the Net, for more clarity on my mis-matched wardrobe colours.
I really need to get a move on now, with my kondoing - it's beginning to stand in the way of my joyful life! With a bit more understanding of my 'colour' problems, I will need to 'find' my sewing machine and fabric (if the fabric still sparks joy, after years in 'storage'!)
Funny, how kondoing starts to seep into so many areas of life, beyond household carp, isn't it?

BTW, I've got the book now. There was no waiting list at my library :-) The content is a joy to read, I recognize so much!
However, I don't think it will catch on as much in Dutch speaking countries, because the Dutch translation is rather awful. I think it was done by g..gle trans1ate and then modified by someone who had forgotten his/her native Dutch. It's hard going and I had to put the book aside every other page to calm down from all the sentence structure mistakes. I won't be sorry to kondo it back to the library.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
I do so believe that so many women put themselves last & yes we are SO worth it so go for it and invest in yourselves
Totally agree!!:T
Still reading the book here. I must admit I am amazed by the number of items so many of her customers have, and that's just with the clothes. I thought I was bad....0 -

And on this note
She decided it was time for her to step out of the shadows and let her true radiance show
Her light came from within and she would never allow anyone to dim it again

peaceandfredom Thanks for the link. It was a really good to read. I am already there, thanks to MK! My iTwin is there too - we don't have space or time in our lives for carp things, or carppy people. No one can taint our happiness... unless we let them!Needs, NOT wants!

This is becoming embarrassing 20 more dupe DVDs have thrown themselves out of their hiding places at me this morning! I've actually sat and typed up lists of which DVDs are in which cupboards this morning and fixed them inside the cupboard doors to make finding them easier so that Dh or the boys find it thus making it less likely for Dh to buy them again.
I've started straying back onto paperwork again now, I suddenly realised I came downstairs with an armful of shredding stuff as well as the dupe DVDs I found up there.
Might go and see if I can cadge a bag off a neighbour.SPC~12 ot 124

I have emptied DS wardrobe, it's all on the spare bed and at least half of it is about to exit
Poor DS (6) he always asks me to get his clothes out, you can't see for looking in there as we get given so much stuff. I'm about to make things much easier. He's at the age where he wants to dress himself, but he's no idea what to wear.
I have a small chest of drawers free that will fit nicely in his cupboard too, so that will help immensely.Bossymoo

My DD2s step children have exactly the same problem bossy, they just have too many clothes so. Can't keep the room tidy, don't know what to wear and end up putting dirty and clean back in the cupboard together when they tidy. I hinted that if they have less it will help them keep it neater and let them find what they need.SPC~12 ot 124

Sounds like you used to run a DVD hiring shop!
Good luck!

I am amazed by the amount of clothes everyone has these days!
In the late 50s, early 60s, my sister and I had one drawer each, for all our clothes, except coats. Our 1 spare nightie each, vest and pants were in the airing cupboard.
Dressing was easy - this skirt or that, and one sweater or the other, or school uniform! Best dress, best coat, and best shoes only for chapel or parties! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

I know, it's madness. As a child I had one narrow wardrobe, with a single door. It had everything from underwear to outerwear and I was always well turned out.
And yet it is the generation older than myself that supplies all this excess
DS wardrobe sorted. Top drawer has pjs pants and socks. Middle has summer shorts and tshirts, bottom has long sleeve and long leg stuff, neatly folded and filed. I've filled a Binbag with unneeded stuff and flung a rather yellowin school tee.
School uniform is boxed to go on the high shelf. I've kept 3pr trousers the right size and 3 the next size up. The rest can be donated. No child needs 7 pairs of school trousers . He needs one pair of PE shorts and 2 cotton tank tops. Then it's just shoes, later in the summer, unless his current ones still fit - they are in good Nick.
I can also see he could do with an evening outfit for our hols. He has a smart pair of shorts and a cute shirt, but another of each would be good. He's plenty of beach tees that can be ditched before we come home.
I'm tired now, I'm going to have a nap :TBossymoo
