I'm also planning to take the full 6 months to get our house Kondo'd. I figure that will mean I'm finished just before the summer school hols, a great time to start our new light and carefree life!0

I have been reading this thread with interest and in a few days will order the book(once I get my amazon voucher) but for now have samosa'd my carriers, rolled my bathroom towels and folded my tea towels! my wardrobe I sort quite often as we have a small cottage(and little storage), we did down size nearly two years ago and got rid of so so much stuff I was embarrassed by it! Having a complete consumer holiday this year! BUT I am very much looking forward to decluttering again and filling my home with only JOYful things I already have!Having a Consumer Holiday 2015:A0

The joy continues....Kondo'd my picnic stuff - only kept the stuff that sparked joy (reducing it into one bag!) I now have...drum roll.....a three drawer chest with nothing in it at all! I really want to sort out my storage but plugging away at discarding first like the book says...I love it!Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0

Kondo-ing and Kleaning ( I know, I know but a "K" looks better
)
I'm starting to Kondo my kitchen. I've started off at the worst bit, the saucepan cupboard. Whilst sorting I'm now on you tube sussing out ideas of how to clean very very tarnished copper bottomed pans. Will try the white vinegar, flour and salt paste tomorrow when I have more time.
I'm finding as I'm kondo-ing stuff I'm getting more ruthless and the less stuff I have the better. Its also made me look at stuff I do NEED rather than just buying cheaper alternatives. Ie I need new gloves. I've lost two old pairs and I was going to buy a couple of fleece ones. But these are no good when de icing the car so I'm going to upgrade to waterproof thinsulate ones. Keeping one pair of knitted ones with matching scarf and hat which won't be used for de icing the car.
Its made me realise how much useless stuff I don't need.0 -
I heard about Marie Kondo & this thread on another MSE thread and would love to join in. I've downloaded the book - hope to have read it by the weekend so I can make a start.
I think of myself as fairly good at discarding things but recently came to the realisation that I'm kidding myself and I have WAY too much stuff - mostly due to my penchant for "bargains". I love what I hear about this method & can't wait to get started...Shifting my energy for 20200 -
No kondo-ing tonight, I'm exhausted. I've had to walk to work and back due to snow, which meant an early start and a late finish.
DH couldn't take the 4 black bags and the carrier bag to various locations. We have also got a fair bit of recycling and 2 carriers of rubbish.
I'm hoping to get the kitchen finished over the next few days. I must find time to read the book!

I've just watched the 'fitted sheet folding' as I want to tackle my airing cupboard, but I am disappointed as this is how I fold mine anyway. I wanted to do something newI'm not sure about the folding of bed sets into one pillowcase as I can't see how it will all fit. Anyone else managed it with Kingsize sets?
Yep been doing this for a while and with super kingsize. No problem:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

People seem to be starting off samosa folding placky bags before
Getting hooked on Kondo
Perhaps we should start a kind of belt system
Like a martial art
Placky bags being the first belt
ranger rolling tea Towels next level
Then tee shirt rolling next
Ok I admit it I've lost it!!! Lo
I think that getting rid of MOST of your plastic bags first should be the first belt!
I haven't samosa'd mine because I haven't got round to ditching them yet. I don't really collect many because I use reusable shopping bags for food shopping. the real culprits are if I ever do an online shop - hundreds!!!! but I usually give them back to the driver on the next one so they don't stay. I don't do much shopping but they do accumulate gradually of course. I reckon I only need 10 non-re-usable carrier bags in the house at any one time for wellies to take to school/taking things to and from allotment/cleaning up sick/unblocking drains or some other similar disaster etc etc. Reusable bags I have about 10 again and do use them in the house for washing baskets and packing stuff up for holidays etc.
I appreciate some people use them as bin bags and for dog poo etc, but still, the acquisition of them only needs to keep pace with the use of them surely?
I think its easy to get caught up in nifty storage ideas, but surely the heart and soul of this process is the removal of items and living with fewer things?:)0 -

When you have to start paying for them you will find you will have fewer to samosa!!! I use to use them to line kitchen bin and saved a lot before we went over to paying for them - most perished before I got to the bottom of the pile:rotfl: Buy liners now and only use 'shoppers' for shopping now and they are a whole different way of folding and storing:)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Y'know, I am so glad to hear other women on this thread admit to this. I hate, loathe and detest shopping for clothes. It falls somewhere between going to the dentist and minor surgery on my least-favourite activity list. Yet we ladies are supposed to love nothing better than getting together with our gal-pals and hitting the clothing shops.
I hate clothes shopping so much that, given I'm the same size as my husband, we share pants
I've just ordered the book at the library, hoping to make use of the methods in the new house.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
