Sorry to hear your experience with Church ladies, we are not all like that. I feel really bad when others give us a bad name :( Sounds like you had more common sense and rose above it. Well done.

I knew a church lady years ago who was a back-stabbing b*tch. She went to a Charismatic Church (this was in South Africa, I don't know if they have those here, but I presume it's one where they wave their arms in the air). Horrible woman. She died on the loo like Elvis.

That's so me too, but this book I don't know it's changed me so much.
I actually put on a bit make up today. Ran my hand along my neat clothes rail to pick out an outfit just to pop out to the shops.
Normally I would have thrown on any old thing and ran out hoping not to bump into anyone.
I'm sure I've been brainwashed! Lol

It does seem to have some odd side effects eh: I have become very much more aware of anything that looks disorderly and out of place. Random and out of place stuff is really starting to jar and I can't help but stop and fix it or move it to a more appropriate place. A can see some areas I have not yet actively Kondoed will start to morph into tidiness by themselves because I seem to be endlessly picking up and moving or putting things away.

I did my bathroom cupboard last night and spent quite a bit of time in there generally cleaning again. I sectioned just four items of shampoo and conditioner of mine to 'think' about throwing away - I'm not likely to use them but does seem a waste to just chuck them. I've thought today that I might gather them together with some other things and take them to a womens refuge or something. The rest were put back neatly on cleaned shelves and either stood up in plastic tupperware type boxes without lids on or clustered like with like in a bag. All make-up (not much) is now all in one bag to be reviewed later. I threw away a whole bag of old / out of date medicinal stuff - mostly OHs and some that hadn't seen the light of day for some years!!

I only did minimal shopping at the supermarket tonight as I am feeling a strong urge to reduce and organise the contents of the larder and freezer.

I'm going to go and do my camisole tops in a mo, these currently reside in two small drawers so hoping to cull that down to one drawer.

Here's hoping some of the other side effects, such as weight loss and being more productive with work and studies will be along soon. :T

Haven't read the whole thread, sorry :o but having just watched some ranger rolling videos I reckon MK would have a fit - how are the clothes going to rest when they are rolled up so tightly? You'll have to apologise to them before you put them on again :D

I think this thread is evolving into methods that suit individual needs. The ranger rolling is deffo miltary style but not pure MK we seem to be taking what we need from the book only. I certainly dont intend to kneel on the floor to greet my home. Or go find a waterfall to meditate under:D
I am quite spiritual though and do ask my house Angels to look after the house and people in it.:A

    Lovely idea
I took my unwanted toiletries to an elderly peoples home after enquiring about donating them to a womens refuge. I was told they do appreciate this. However the refuge I asked prefered to give the ladies new stuff its to do with self esteem. That particular refuge give them a small amount of cash to buy stuff in the little 'shop' they have. Some havent had their own money for years.
so check first if you do donate it might just be that one I asked.

I use unwanted shampoo to handwash delicates

I'd do your personal Stuff and then do kitchen stuff and then see what happens. You may have some happy surprises in store.

Its Kondo by osmosis in this household too;) Some of our more protracted arguments between OH and I have been about stuff and clutter, my stuff and clutter. He also has a lot of stuff and keeps things which I think could be discarded.........but he doesn't see and the issue is what I have brought into the house. *Big Sigh* but I am now dealing with it. I know why/how its happened and I know how I can deal with it,in my own way with a bit of Konodism for assistance :D

DD2 has suddenly started going through her room! She is very neat and tidy but a keeper of things.Last night 7 pairs of trousers appeared on landing and 12 pairs of socks. She has also found some tops she had forgotten about.I asked why the sudden sort out and she just said 'it felt right' I havent mentioned my new Kondo desires other than show her my sock draw!!!...........spooky

OH on the other hand has kept a soup/cereal bowl which I dropped a couple of days ago - its a one of a set of 4 we bought on first holiday in France about 27 years ago............he wants to 'mend it' but cant say why - WE HAVE PLENTY OF OTHER BOWLS!! Further osmosis required............

Just a note: anybody Kondoing medicine cabinet/box etc - take to your pharmacists - any will take your old medicines and will dispose of them responsibly -even stuff which may be considered benign such as throat pastilles, paracetamol,C*lpol etc

My biggest challenge is going to be decluttering. I have kept everything to do with my children's schooling - pictures, school work, newsletters, letters about trips. Will my children really want all this, probably not. Time to get ruthless I think.

I have a couple of books and a book mark I made from my own school days which I wouldnt part with and this was whittled down from a large box I found in my Nan's house when we cleared it out. I have kept my own childrens stuff ( not school letter though:eek:).I made a scrap book for DD1 when she was 21 with 'samples' of her 'life' - school work, cards, certificates pictures babytags from hospital etc and I will do the same for DD2. We have framed 2 pictures/paintings that each of the DDs produced - the first discernible face/figure and one other - the rest we have recycled!

Quote Grey Gueen : In the mornings when I open my socks and underwear drawer, and stare down at my lovely sushi-rolls of socks and knicks, and decide which ones I will wear that day, it's almost like choosing choccies from a box. I don't just wrench the drawer open a fraction and claw out the nearest pair, it's a considered choice.

This so true , I am doing exactly the same , I have also moved my underwear to two smaller drawers which hold the sushi rolls in a much neater fashion . I now have a large drawer which is completely empty :D. I won't mention it to DH he has to fill every orifice he sees :rotfl:

Thanks for the tip regarding unwanted shampoo. I was wondering what to do with it......

Will be dropping a couple of bags off the charity shop this morning and pop into B&ms to look for some drawer dividers.
