Sorr to hear your experience with Church ladies, we are not all like that. I feel really bad when others give us a bad name :( Sounds like you had more common sense and rose above it. Well done.

Not at all mummyr I dont judge everyone the same I just think some people should listen in their place of worship more.
There are some lovely people out there.

:o Something weird happened this morning.

I opened the window as I got out of bed, as I always do, and it stays open a few inches to air the room for several hours. Threw back the duvet and furry blanket as I always do, but for the third morning in a row, instead of leaving them in a tangle at the foot of the bed, I shook them out and folded them back neatly.

Takes seconds and looks a thousand times better. I also quickly delved into a drawer and retrieved a shawl/ scarf thingy which was bought from a chazzer for a particular event, and laundered and put away afterwards. Roll forward 3 years next month, I haven't found it necessary in the interim, so have decided to release it via the donation bag. It's attractive and I am sure it has stored-up joy waiting to be released for someone else.

I finished The Book last night. Part of me was nodding along, having had echoes of the same thoughts myself, another part was standing offside going you're as mad as a box of frogs, Marie!

I'm definately a Konvert but will take what I need from it and not fret about the rest. My tiny flat is already moving towards a more-empty ethos, and I am also running down a TP Mountain.

Re the parent who has a resistant resident offspring, my takeaway from what other posters have said is that Kondo-ing seems to be viral, and household members often start as mockers, move to intruigued, give it a go/ all some of their Stuff to be Kondo'd, and then get into it.

I'd do your personal Stuff and then do kitchen stuff and then see what happens. You may have some happy surprises in store.

I agree with what you say and, in my experience, some of the best people I know are the ones who have the ones who others may avoid.

Ok, so just ordered blackboard stickers after watching the video with the overly perky american lady (anyone else notice the large plastic container labelled "Pain Relievers"??). Then I tried ranger rolling hubbys undies.... then mine.... then a pair of socks. I believe after trying it, I'll be doing all of them tomorrow.

This is exciting stuff (for someone who already has mild OCD).

Yes I thought that when I saw her pantry but she has some good ideas. I couldnt label a drawer with snacks it would be snaffled and empty in no time in this house!
Great that you are on board and starting your kondoing adventure
however dont let your mild ocd get worse it can easily turn into a problem
this is to help you get free and out the house doing stuff you love.

edit - hoarding is a form of OCD

I kondoed my kitchen. I had 3 large containers with cooking utensils. I was forever buying them. 1 jar for non-stick, 1 for wooden spoons and spatulas and 1 large jar for metal utensils large spoons ladels mashers etc.which took up loads of room at the side of the cooker. I kondoed them to one small utensil jar. But they were covering a very rusty patch at the edge of my fridge-freezer. In the past I would have bought a new fridge freezer but since I tidied it out ( it was much too small for us now it isn't ) I got some sandpaper which I found when I tidied out the garage. I bought some metal paint yesterday and it is now as good as new. Without all the stuff stuck on the front with fridge magnets it looks brand new. :T
I use the tank that was supposed to be for iced water to put all the sauce bottles and that freed up so much space. It is so neat and tidy I have to smile when I look in.

Haven't read the whole thread, sorry :o but having just watched some ranger rolling videos I reckon MK would have a fit - how are the clothes going to rest when they are rolled up so tightly? You'll have to apologise to them before you put them on again :D
