    Morning all
    Happy kondoing.
Just printed off a list with the order on to remind me to stick with the programme.
I've sort of dabbled in all areas to test the water, so am now going back through. Clothing has been revisited, so next is paperwork lots got done in the first kondo but there is bound to be lots more in the 2nd assessment of what's been kept.
I do need to go into the attic at some point so will try not to get distracted by just the sheer amount of stuff that is up there.

Loving the telesales stories, my Ds1 is brilliant with them when he's in the mood he's like a cat playing with a mouse, then once he's finished playing and stringing them along hell causally say well I notice the time and I think I've saved several other people from listening to your rubbish so I'll call it a day now. Once he even said I'm afraid I'm going to have to hang up now my youger brother has just spontaneously combusted so our mum needs to ring the fire brigade

My favourite call was still the one insisting that he was from Microsoft and my computer had a virus. I've been a Mac user for years but I also work in IT so even before that, my machines have always been well protected. It was fun playing with him for a bit before telling him that though. Not Gary level fun, I would say I'd step up my game but I kondoed my phone so no more calls. :D
  • I just kondoed an unused toiletry via ebay and gained £26 in the process which will help with kondoing the mortgage. Yay.

I've just kondoed my grey roots and split ends.
Sorted through dome books, so now I'm going to go and see if I can kondo enough off the upstairs shelf to make these fit. My TBR shelf is vast but it does bring me pleasure

    Well done granny Kate.
I need to sort out my cupboard under the kitchen sink-it's bursting with cleaning materials, most of which I don't use-as they were bought on a whim (just to try). :o
I also need to kondo the bathroom cupboards-desperately. :o
Oh, along with the rest of the categories that need doing. :rotfl:

    It's time to de-lurk!

I've read this thread from the beginning, and also all 9 threads on Mumsnet, and I recognise sooooo much! This is how I naturally do my filing / storing / sorting. And this is why my routines get upset so easily: the people around me don't have my way of filing, put stuff in front of things I need (e.g. they put an old TV in front of the shelving unit with my bank statements folder), don't follow my instructions when I clearly indicate how I want things to be stored. E.g. my parents, when they offered to sort the girls' clothes in the attic, and I asked them to put all trousers in one box, pyjamas in another (largest size in the bottom, smallest size on top), put all mixed clothes of the same size in one box; one box per size.

One part of me keeps thinking: I could have made a nice load of money if I had written a book about it. The other part keeps thinking: I finally understand that I have a 'loyalty' problem. I try to file the way my parents and partner want me to file and organise my house, even when I know my way is better for me. In the end I do nothing, not wanting to do it their way, not feeling 'free' to do it my way. I want to break free!

My house was well organised in the days before DH and DDs, I could find my way around in the dark, could get dressed in the dark, even find the correct insurance forms in the dark, everything was in its place or on its way to its place.

Our next big project is clearing out the garage. My DDs are spending a fortnight at my parents' place, and DH and I have decided to tackle a few projects that are easier without small kids around. I will set about konverting him! I know I can only lead by example, but that should be fine.

Pfewww, it felt good to get that out!

Well 20 books that aren't screaming joyful at me have been put in a pile on the landing.
It's taken so long as I have my books logged on goodreads so I've had yo take them off there and add some that weren't on. Seems to have freed about 3 feet of shelf space do I can tidy the books stored elsewhere onto that bookcase now, and will hopefully (eventually) have all my reading for pleasure in one place.

This is one bookcase out of five, others are autobiographys, children's books, reference, DHs fitness books, and cook books. We have a lot of books!!!

When we redecorated our living room almost 2 years ago we removed 2 bookcases. Some books were donated back then, some relocated to elsewhere in the house and 6 large boxes of books were packed up and put in the garage loft. Today I've got those boxes down (with DS1's help) and emptied them out. DS1 has taken one (human biology related), DS2 4 and DD about 30 (mainly classics and some grammar rules ones - she's doing A level Eng Lit & Lang and planning on doing an Eng Lit & Eng Lang degree) OH has relocated about a dozen to the office and I've put about a dozen on a bookshelf. 2 (smaller) boxes of books remain to be rehomed once paperwork has been finished (currently there are a lot of files stored in one of the bookcases). The rest are for Ziffit or CS as appropriate. (There are some 1970s Beatrix Potter which I may list on ebay as a job lot, along with a set of AA Milne books which I had in 1976) The teens are having a whale of a time reading classic children's nursery rhymes and short stories aloud - it's lovely to hear them :D:D
