Bossy can I just say be careful storing toiletries on the windowsill in sunlight it can affect the products and make them 'go off' quicker.

    Hi everyone,
I don't post very often but try to read each day as you all keep me inspired to carry on kondoing! Anyhoo am on hols and suddenly realised why I always feel so much more relaxed whilst away and it is because I have so little stuff with me that I can truly relax . . , sounds obvious when you say it out loud but it has refocused me to kondoing more when I get home!

And a big thank you to everyone for posting
:) The decluttering writer Don Aslett remarked on this very phenomenon. It's easy to manage with a few things, and so soothing not to have to move all your other things around, isn't it?

Good luck with your kondo-ing on your return.

Will be at work today and still haven't taken the donation bag down. Was going to do it on Sunday, then remembered the printer cartridge to be donated to another chazzer I'd be passing by, one which isn't open on a Sunday. I have a day off tomorrow so will aim to do the chazzer run then, plus I have found a few more things to depart between Sun and now, so it can all go at once.

It's amazing how it keeps coming out of the woodwork and surrendering, isn't it?:rotfl:

How joyful is that Eyeore :D Kondoing just sort of catches up with you somehow and then bang you know you are getting there :DHave a lovely relaxed holiday ;)

Raining here today but does it matter no not one bit :) I will still have a joyful happy postive day so there rain ! and save money as the guy that does the garden wont be able to come in very MSE :)

Think I am going to go and buy some paint today to paint a chair and upcycle it a bit. Cant wait to buy some joyful fabric to cover the seat as fabric is one of my pleasures in life.I dont know why but it is :) We have a wonderful little shop near us which sells so much I dont know where it appears from. When I was in there last a lady came in and asked if they had any fabric with Owls on. The guy went off and came back with 7 different fabrics all with Owls on  I could stay in there all day and just see what people ask for. :) So think a trip there is on the cards for today at some point for me to buy my chair fabric ( If I am not seen again you lot can tell the police where I am ) :rotfl:

I also have another bag to be dropped off today and before I go I will check if any thing else has slipped into not quite joyful enough to keep :):) As I am sick of seeing binbags in the spare room everytime one is shipped out another takes its place :( The spare room is also full of stuff for trash or treasure bags for the fete and I will be glad when that lot goes but know that will get worse before it gets better ;) 200 bags to be done so you can imagine what that looks like  Poeple have donated stuff but I havent even looked in the bags yet as I might fancy something and have to buy it :rotfl:But I am determined not too :o

Edited to say I never saw this before I wrote this post by GQ' It's amazing how it keeps coming out of the woodwork and surrendering, isn't it?' yes yes and yes !!!

    Morning all
Landing looks quite cluttered today with piles of books and two bulging CS bags sitting in it. Hopefully they will be gone soon.
Not doing much today has I've got plans with DD2 and DGS but tonight need to visit The attic I didn't get round to it yesterday with doing the books, I've got some wet suits that are surplus but rather than donate them to local a local CS I'm taking them on holiday with me and giving them to a CS there as lots of people wear them on the beaches we go to so they will probably bring more joy and funds to a seaside CS.
I've also saved a couple of quick read books from the CS bag to put in the Holliday house we stay in, there is a bookshelf for holiday makers and I was halfway through one at the holiday end last year so ended up rushing down the local CS to buy one to fill the gap I was creating.
    Have a lovely day all.

  • Good morning everyone.

I expect to have a free day today to continue the project. Last week's success was to actually take the excess glassware and ornaments, some from the loft and some directly from the display cabinets to the charity shop.

They filled four vegetable boxes from a well known discount supermarket and included a large cat ornament that was given to me by SIL and has been on display for 10 years but that I have never liked, never mind loved.

Also the first 50 thimbles in a disply case that belonged to DD1. These were the easy ones with animals and flowers on. She has promised to go through the 250+ to decide if she wants to keep any from places she has visited.

Last weekend we all went to stay with DD2 in Suffolk. It was so good to just spend time together, eating out at a chilli farm, a cider in the local beer garden and nothing specific to do.

I saw this as a vision for my life post Kondo, so back to it today.

I have posted some stuff on freegle this morning as not really suitable for charity shop but may do for car boot.

Thanks again to posters to help me keep on track and best wishes to those who are also having to contend with personal or family health issues, IQ ang GQ spring to mind.

Dead freezer kondo'd to the tip & decided to put the 4 Tupperware jugs on Freecycle for someone to carboot. Another tip run with some carp that DH forgot & some money to be Kondo'd for my car insurance!
    Have a good day all.x

OMG I have just had another call from the company 'GARY' works for  I know it was them  This was a guy called Sam :rotfl:
I know that he was new and 'GARY' has got him to ring me even though Sam denied it ! :rotfl:My number will stay on their database now to give the newbies some practice :) How cool is that.
The call went along these lines
I said Sam Do you know I am P.M.S.L registered ? He said no I have never heard of it Do you mean T.P.S registered ? No I mean P.M.S.L registered.I am sorry Madam I have never heard of that one. So I said(pmsl) you will understand it at the end of this call ! With that you heard the brain clicking in and the phone went down :rotfl:Oh Sam you have sadly failed your first challenge :) The call lasted 4 mins and most of that was me asking to speak to 'GARY' ;)

Talking books as everyone is at the moment

I checked how many I have got after kondoing and its 3 :o

1,The time waster letters -By Robin Cooper (if you want a laugh this book is it ):D
2, On Chesil Beach -Ian McEwan ( short but a got to read and keep book for me)
3, The Bible - Marie Kondo :rotfl:
Thats it:o DH has a couple of cookery books (I have none) just how I like it ;)

I read a lot but donate as soon as I have read it or if I think anyone would like it I donate to them to pass on when they have read it.

I have a kindle as well but do like a proper paper book :)

Has anyone got less than me ? Or am I just a weirdo ! I also dont have any DVDs or a DVD player as I am not a film fan really.

No CDs either and the CD player has been kondo'd :rotfl:

I have no physical books! I do have a few kindle reference books, but I've never been into reading fiction and find most information online now. When I occasionally want to read fiction, it's always come from the library.

DVDs though, I am partial to. Not films, but I do have a decent collection of TV shows that I enjoy rewatching. Probably half what there was last year though, have sent off two big boxes worth to the shiny collectors.

Haven't had CDs in years, the little music I listen to is all on my phone. DH on the other hand... much better than he used to be, but still has at least a hundred of the things :rotfl:

Yes, they were only there overnight until I ditch lots and put the rest back in my currently empty tubs :T

    Afternoon all,

I hope you don't mind me joining in. I am half way through the book and naughtily I have already Kondo'd mine and hubby's clothes.

I am moving onto books now, which shouldn't be too difficult as I only have one bookshelf, although I do have a large pile of magazines on it which I keep convincing myself that I will go back and read sometime. but as Marie says "Sometime never comes" and as painful as it will be to get rid of them, I have come to realise she is correct. I have had the magazines for about 5 years now and I have never re-read them :o.
They will all hit the recycling bin this afternoon.

The question I wanted to ask is this:-

How do I balance sticking firmly to the Kondo method but also being mindful that I am stony broke and cannot afford to throw out non joy sparking clothes or toiletries because I am having to "make do" while I am on my journey to becoming debt free.

I have quite a few bottles of moisturisers and body washes that have been past gifts and I do eventually start using them, to save me having to buy my chosen brand in a bid to save money.

Am I compromising the Kondo method too much by holding on to old jeans I hate but HAVE to wear because I cannot afford some new joy sparking jeans, and having to use a horrible smelling moisturiser because I have it and if I use it, it will save me having to spend any money on my favourite brand.

I am finding it tricky to throw certain items out as sometimes "something is better than nothing".

Has anyone else here Kondo'd whilst they are fighting to become debt free? and what are you thoughts.

    thanks all. xx
