Morning Everyone!mhp  What a lovely story and I am so glad it brings you joy sitting in the corner with its joyful arty;) lights twinkling brightly
Sounds wonderful.I think this sums up this whole kondo way of life. It brings you joy and who cares what anyone else thinks. That is going on my mental list along with 'does it really matter'
Bringing me joy at the moment are two baby wild rabbits that are living in one of my flower bedsThink they must have lost their mum as they have been there about 2 weeks now and were really tiny but a bit bigger now.
People have seen them and said you want to get rid of them they will eat all your plants. Who cares if they eat my plants they will grow again. They will make holes in the grass.Who cares I will fill them in again. The rabbits are not your problem its my garden my grass why do you feel you have to give an opinion.
They bring me joy who cares what you think and does it really matter if they are living there they are happy and content. So they are bl**dy well staying !

My sentiments exactly! It's my life and your garden, and we can ignore the opinions of other people! :rotfl:
You are so lucky that the babies are in your garden. They will be less inclined to eat your plants if you put out your salad leftovers!
Beware of cats! When I had cats, they regularly brought in dead baby rabbits! :eek:OK. Going to be brave. Because there is such support and no judgement on this thread. Huge confession coming up … hangs head in shame ….
I have never lined drawers with anything. My drawers are clean but bare.
I don't line drawers these days, although I'm old enough to remember doing it in the past!
Lining drawers used to be common, (anything from newspaper to leftover wallpaper!) before flat-packs and plastic coatings.
I don't see the need these days, but I suppose, (apart from 'girly joy') they could prevent damage to the drawers from spills and leaks?I'm de lurking to comment that I have no drawers in my bedroom, let alone anything to line them with...
I've nowhere to fold anything...
Welcome in from lurkiness! :coffee:
In the Kondo Bible, MK mentions shelves and suggests any kind of suitably-sized boxes for storing 'folded and filed' clothes - she's particularly fond of shoe-boxes!Needs, NOT wants!

I put my empty perfume/eau de toilette bottles in my lingerie drawers, with the tops off. Dead tight :money: - determined to get my money's worth, very MSE! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

I need someone tell me i need to get rid of my long leather coat. Its too baggy on the arms, too wide on the shoulders, too long on the arms. My daughter hates me in it. My husband says its like a tent.
Only thing is, i love leather, i love the mandarin collar but i know it ought to go.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
iQueen I had to have my cat pts last Nov
But she was 24 so did well and had a lovely life catching 100s of baby bunnies ! So they wouldnt be around if she was
My dog doesnt bother about the baby rabbits but is bothered about cats strangely so I dont get any cats here. They are free to leave when they want and havent touched any of my plants yet. No holes dug either
Right on to the debate on drawer liners :rotfl: I have never even thought about it so no never had them in my drawers.
I do remember buying Lavender smelling ones for various Aunts and my Nan many years ago. As they seemed to be a standard type present along with the Tweed gift sets :rotfl:And not forgetting Brut and Old spice gift sets for the older men
Remember going to the old co-op department store and buying all this stuff and having a lovely time spraying all the samples. Bet the relatives didnt have such a lovely time opening them :)I reckon that was the time charity shops started to grow
I do remember having to take my brother with me who was 4 years younger and a pain in the neck for me at that age to get his gifts for everyone. He got everyone a box of pins :rotfl:That was for Mum Dad Nan Grandad and 2 aunts :rotfl:How funny and the family still talk about it now and my Brother turned 50 last year
See memories all started by the talk of Drawer lining paperThats why I love this thread
Going to give my Brother a ring now just to remind him and tell him I have told everyone on MSE

Judi I think you know in your heart that its only the Leather and the collar you love not the rest !
Let it go to someone who will love it who has wide shoulders big bulky arms which are really long :rotfl:A large primate springs to mind as I write this :rotfl:So maybe think along those lines as you kondo it

A large primate that stands 5ft tall.:D
I think what prompted me to think about getting rid of it was the fact ive been wearing a jacket that just sits on my hips..... Putting some laundry away i saw another coat that i dont love as much but fits me better when i need a coat on colder days.
Anyway, its going. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

A short large shouldered Primate with long arms then JudiGlad you made up your mind to let it go. I have had loads of items like this where I love them for some reason i.e collar etc But do me no favours at all when I wear them
So they have all gone I do try and wear things that flatter rather than Frump

Just kondoed 2 unopened cans of paint, to the Romany lady who calls from time to time.
She's forecast quite a few of my life events over the past 20 odd years - personal things she couldn't possibly have known about. Woo!
Judi, discard it and start saving for a new one that fits perfectly!
You've just reminded me that I have a leather coat, that I missed when kondoing clothes!
mav, you rattled my brain, re drawer-liners, elderly rellies... I seem to remember that someone bought me some years ago. Another gem to be dis-interred at some point on this journey! :rotfl:
Off to deal with my leather coat - it may fit me now I've lost some weight!Needs, NOT wants!

Afternoon Konverts,
I survived my friends clutter yesterday only just.
when i arrived she was in a huge cupboard throwing things out of her way as she was looking for a jacket, I made us a cup of tea whilst she flung everything back in without finding the jacket. I said "its a real pain when you cant find what you want because all you can find is things you dont want" she said yeah your right but i know the cupboard will stay the same way.
I had to nip to her loo, whilst washing my hands i noticed that she has 5 toothbrushes in a cup on her sink???????? She lives alone.
I had to ask about them, "ah well 2 of them are old that i haven't got around to throwing out yet, 2 of them are new that i am not going to use as they match the bathroom perfectly and the last on is mine"
my mind just boggles at that, a toothbrush that matches the decor, come on, do people really do that?????? Or is it just me that doesn't?
3 people live in our house and 3 toothbrushes are placed neatly in the bathroom cabinet. I have a couple under the kitchen sink that i use for cleaning.
Today i am kondoing scarves, belts, make up and jewellery.
I dont line my drawers either, well apart from when i am on my lady time.
Be back later
Regards:j0 -
Judi, the answer's clear - offer your coat to the zoo! Seriously - it's taught you that you like a mandarin collar and you like leather. Set it free to give someone else pleasure, and start looking out for the right coat.
Re drawer lining, that brought me up short for a moment - why do I line them? Then I realised - a lot of you probably have modern furniture with smooth insides, and no I wouldn't line those either. I am still using (with GREAT joy!) the dressing-table and chest of drawers that were my mums 21st birthday present - in 1937*. I wouldn't want to put things straight on to the wood in case of splinters or snags.
*there was also a matching single wardrobe which was discarded years ago. That tells you something about how many clothes people owned in those days, compared to now!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0
