Mrs Moneypenny - I lost a back tooth years ago and my one and only wisdom tooth came through & filled the gap! It's a bit wonky but hhe's never given me any problems.
Laughing about the frozen berries & spiders too - I'm one of the strange people who love spiders - after all they must all be female 'cos the first thing they do when they move in is put up their curtains ;)

I love spiders too. I get a bit miffed by their curtains going up, but, hey, they catch any annoying fruit flies that get in! And I drop any larger flies that I swat into their webs, to feed them! :D

I love that story. Its one of the staples of the Autumn term that I read to the mad frogs - they love it too and really get the message behind it ......well for about 2 weeks:rotfl: As I hope to be well and truly kondoed by September, when it comes out of the book basket I shall read it with a bit of smugness.............;)

LRH is one of the stories that I remember being read to us at Primary school, 65 years ago, along with the Three Billy-Goats Gruff. I also recall, from time to time, quite a few Aesop's Fables, especially the one about rivalry between the Sun and Wind, and the Fox and the Grapes! Great morality tales. :)

tooties well done! There is nothing like an empty drawer:) am going very slowly, am itching to have a few days and really blitz the last few categories, then I guess I will have to deal with the shed and attic, but that is another story;) place is staying tidier than ever before though:j

When I started kondoing I had loads of empty drawers... Why??? All my crud is in clear view! Am I trying to tell everyone, (who never gains access to my home!) that I am open and honest? :undecided

I'm consolidating today. I need to sort out the sacks and boxes to go, into one place, and plan how/when they will go! That will make kondoing easier and quicker.

I am reading this thread and one on another forum and this book is so popular. She must have made an absolute fortune from writing it!:D

I went through my chest of drawers last night and I keep going back to admire the neatness.:T

    Welcome! :coffee:

She's sold over 2 million, so my guess is that she's earned well over a million pounds!

Hmmm, now where is that novel that I've half-written... :o

    Morning all!

So last night I continued with some Kottering (don't seem to be getting down to categories but while I am making progress in a pottering way this will do).

Have cleared loads of carp stationery bits … sadly only place for my desk is my bedroom and this is making a difference. Continued with this last night and tackled the mugs in which I stand pens etc … when a loved one chips or breaks I tend to use it for this and get great joy. But actually it means a) however further chipped they get I keep them and b) too much stuff stands out cluttering precious few clear spaces.

Anyway, so I made progress last night and binned a couple - hesitated over last couple but inspired by all your second rounds (even La Mav goes back occasionally :)) thought OK I'll keep just these two on my desk for now. So this morning, woke up and with gusto at the space in my room (what is this round brown clear thing on which I can actually stand and turn round … ah, the floor :):)) … flung open the curtains, and … knocked one down and it shattered, so binned it. Interestingly, clearly a sign, 'cos I'm not sad, almost relieved.

So have decided what we - or at least I - actually need is the ability to break things beyond use, and see how we then feel … and (this is the key) a Harry Potteresque spell to put them back together if we are sad, otherwise it's a great way to feel fine about chucking in bin (which I normally HATE doing).

    Happy Thursdays everyone!

    Part of the Furniture
    Hi everyone new and old:j
I haven't posted for a while. But I have been lurking and reading all your wonderful posts.

My kondo trip is almost complete now. Well 98% complete I still find bits and bobs lurking in out of sight places.

Once I'd kondoed my DD2 off in to the loving arms of her new Hubby along with all wedding paraphernalia. (Think huge wedding dress and hooped under garments, bridesmaid dresses and 6 suits for the men folk and 30 HM table arrangments and miles of bunting) All stored at my house.
All gone and my home is mine again. This made the job so much easier.

Still have some joint belonging with DH to sort out, but not too many.
However DH has come on board with some of his belonging (clothes and bits and bobs of komono) but was been stubborn about his books.
So I became creative, (read devious, sly and underhand):D
I went back to 'The Book' and read it through again making notes along the way. Maria says' things left on a shelf untouched become dormant, Or invisible, all though in plain sight, they remain unseen.'
Imagine a book case full of approx 60 books, all belonging to hubby. He stands in front of it and looks and says he wants to keep them all, he will read them all again sometime soon.
I say I want to empty it because I would like to give it a good clean,!!!!!! (it's got to go, so have most of the books)
Three days later I say I have boxed up the books while I clean!!!!!!
But have found some more books under the bed would he have a look at them (I fib):)
    Sure he says.
Sooooooo I give him about half a dozen books, he looks carefully at them and he say they can all go to the CS he doesn't want them. Next day same thing they can all go to the CS. Took me a month to drip feed them all to him, only 10 saved.
Books and bookcase now in CS.
    Job done.

    Morning Konverts :D
First everyone is welcome to join me on the jaunt along the beach in full floral dresses and bare feet :T
Never in my life have I been a hippie type but now feel I am also being lead in the direction of as iTwin puts it 'ageing hippieness) How odd, is it kondo do you think.Or just the feeling of not needing so much in ones life? One for me to think about :)

Loving all the stories and life changing events and the drip feeding ideas how great are they :D

Decided next week I am going to do a clean eating /detox type week as I feel my body needs kondoing somehow.I dont know why but just being led in that direction by something cant explain what :o

Maybe my body now needs to catch up with my head as everything is so much clearer and not as fuzzy with those blurred edges it used to have.So blurred edges need kondoing from my body as well :D

Well I know what I mean :rotfl:Strange direction this kondoing lark leads you but it does always seem to be a reason for it.

So Monday here I come for a clean body to match my clean(ish) head no jokes please :rotfl:Will let you know how I get on and maybe Maries next book will not be about Tidying with babies but maybe about tidying of the body which is where its leading me.

Keep posting even if it is a bad day as it all helps so much and if it is a joyful day well thats even better :)As it helps us all so much on this rocky road (and NO thats not the cake ) :D

Thank you too everyone on this journey with me I couldnt do it without you all x

  • Oh, Tea Lady that made me laugh - devious but not dishonest, and perhaps he just couldn't cope with the whole thing at once.

I've had a bit of a LBM. I have been poking stuff in the spare room 'to sort when I get to that category'/to wait for CS etc and as I moaned yesterday, I've now had to move it all into my room so guests can use the spare. Now, a few months ago, bags and boxes everywhere in my room would have been normal but of course I have got used to the bedroom being a bit of sanctuary.

Today I took six carrier bags to the chazza, and suddenly I've got my Kondo Mojo back - I want my lovely tranquil room back and if it can't go in the cupboard or other appropriate place, then it needs to go. My aim now is to clear my bedroom WITHOUT putting it all back in the spare! I think I've been hiding the problem rather than Kondoing.

ETA: I love the term 'Kottering' by the way! Genius.

    Fantastic kondoing everyone!
I've been so busy with the extra hours I've been doing at work. I've slightly lapsed but I've got a bag ready for the CS and we have to go into town on Saturday so that can come with us.
Got 3 piles of books on various steps, CS, keep, for my mum, they need moving or I'm certain they will breed! (Does anyone el find that when things are put on the stairs?)
I did take a toy into school today that I realised we had two of and am currently using up two packs of cake mix for the fete - Ds bought them on a whim when he and his friends decided to bake then didn't use them all.
I've kondoed a load of weeds in the back garden ready for tomorrow's collection but that's about all today.

This has got me round to thinking about the problems with FIL now known as 'The silly old fool' :rotfl:I dont care about moving if we have too but what to do with Mums tree ? Do I dig it up and take it and most likely go though the stress of will it live or die ! Or do I do as you did with the Lavender and just leave it to thrive and grow. Think I will take that arty photo :D Just incase I decide on the second option :) and wait and see what will be......

    Mav x

Mav, I had a lovely young beech tree, that sparked joy and had been given with great thoughtfulness by a close friend, that was in the wrong place - I moved to a better site in my garden, but it died. It stood dead in my garden for a good few months( I think I was hoping it would suddenly jump back into life!). Then, near Christmas time( I had my MM+M hat on , I think!) I decided to saw it off at its base, fix it in to the Xmas tree 'holder', Spray paint it Green and gold and hang decorations on it as a Xmas tree. That was about 15 years ago and I have used it every Christmas since, every Xmas it has been unpacked and decorated - I love my eco Tree.!
In fact , When I was Kondoing random Komono one day a few months ago, when I came across the tree, I decided that it gave me so much joy that it was too special to have it packed away where I couldn't see it. So out it came and is now glowing in a corner of my sitting room, not the full Gaudy Xmas dressing, you understand, just some ''tasteful/arty string lights....joy every evening/ gloomy afternoon. I don't care what any visitors think..It gives me so much joy!
