Iqueen, you just reminded me of a fridge magnet my DH bought me a few years ago - 'Stick with me, the best is yet to come':D. We often say it to each other when something unusual happens in our lives, although sometimes it is said ironically! it always makes us laugh. :rotfl:
On the subject of good things starting to happen as we change our mindset, i received a cheque in the post for £80 because Ofcom has told one of the broadband providers they have overcharged some of us for about a year . Who knew? This was totally unexpected but very welcome!
I hope the Kon Marie luck touches more of you lovely people.
No Kondo-ing today, been busy cleaning for my lovely elderly neighbour and then took someone else shopping. We had a little laugh and enjoyed a chat about her grandchildren and the funny things they said when she visited last week. She calls them her little twinkles and rightly says that they bring her such joy! Doesn't it make your heart glad?
Paid work tomorrow for 3 days but am planning the next tranche of paperwork at the weekend, I reckon I can bottom it by Sunday night!!:A
Thanks to many of you for the thoughful and very, very useful posts. It is indeed a most revealing and exciting journey our great leader has set us on!! :j
Just as I had got my old happiness back, I received to large cash boosts, which were completely unexpected. What a shock!
On top of that, I'm noticing how kind people are.
Obviously, happiness is magnetic! Who knew?
Grab it, hold it, feel the joy, and never let it go!Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

Grab it, hold it, feel the joy, and never let it go!It seems to be the case, doesn't it? I see people who have identical experiences and some of them manage to laugh about it, and some of them take it as a personal affront from the universe and stew and steam and make themselves miserable.
I can recall a time when we were on the road and had spent exhausting days working the fairs, were still travelling, and trying to get our camping gear dry enough to re-use. We were stumbling-tired, wet, chilled and hadn't had much by way of food and none of it cooked.
My companion in travail said something which stuck in my mind, even 20+ years later; we'll be dining out on this, later. It'll make for great anecdotes. She was right! No one wants to hear that you went to a 5* hotel and had a lovely time lying on the beach and some fancy dinners. Bor-ring!! What GQ and Crew Did on Tour is definately holds people on the edge of their seats, wide-eyed, with plenty of OMGS!!
There's a famous story which runs something like this:
A disatisfied man decided to move across the country but first goes to see a wise old man and ask his advice about the move.
Dissastisfied Man; Do you know what the people Over There are like?
Wise Man; What do you think of the people you live near at the moment?
Dissatisfied Man: Oh, they are the rudest, most thoughtless, inconsiderate people you ever did meet. That's why I'm moving.
Wise Man; I expect you'll find the people Over There are pretty much the same.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I've seen a lot of people who move a lot, sometimes about yearly in the same city, because of perennial dissatisfaction. They never get to a happy place unless and until they twig that happiness is mostly internallly-generated. There's some quote by a famous guy whose name escapes me at this hour, about most people being about as happy as they decide they're going to be.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I hope that i am the "dine out on it sort" - though i can complain  So people hear about the time our car got impounded in Morocco; or we had a puncture (also Morocco, where they speak French "Avez vous un.....un...... Jacques" asked my husband flagging down a passing car - cue his wife, me, :rotfl:); the rain on our honeymoon; a nun helping us break into our own car in Zimbabwe cos we'd locked the keys in there; delayed flights, 80 mile detours and ill children (not dangerously, thank goodness, but inconveniently). A colleague once said "things just happen to you, don't they?":D and another friend said "when these things happen to you, you always take it so well and treat it like an adventure. I just would find it all too tiring and stressful". I rest my case.
Life is just a hoot and a half with the odd bit of crapnosity to deal with. Paraphrasing the late Charles Kennedy's quote about politics - [life] "is far too serious to be taken seriously".
(Not quite as good as my favourite Chat show Charlie quote "Paddy Ashdown is the only party leader who’s a trained killer. Although, to be fair, Mrs Thatcher was self-taught."):rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all
Hope everyone is well
IQueen, there are days when mil gets upset/cross because I help, she's can be quite a strong willed person and be abrupt (I don't think she means to be rude sometimes but it comes across as sharp I spend loads of time oppologising for her at appts etc when she's brusque with staff) she says she doesn't need or want anyone in but seems to accept that I'll do things because I'm married to her son. Some weeks I do the cleaning while she's at the cinema as she says it doesn't need doing so gets cross over it. Perhaps in the future when she accepts she needs help but for now it's just something for me to 'pull in'
Today I plan to do stuff here, I want to nip in the attic to see if any cuddly toys beg to be given to the school fete, then catch up on ironing, crochet a couple more squares so I can finish the blanket that's going to the school raffle. Email friend to arrange when to deliver her raffle blanket. Nip in work for an extra hour before my shift and hopefully get all the bunting sewn up. Then do my paid stuff.
Don't think apart from a couple of teddies much kondoing will get done today.
Have a lovely day all, I hope the weather makes up its mind soon it's looking a bit nondescript out there so far.SPC~12 ot 124
In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind0 -
We must be sisters under the skin. As my Dad has remarked things just seem to happen to you, don't they?
I've long since accepted that my life is apt to devolve into at least a comedy skit, or even a farce, at any moment, and just roll with it. You can't take life too seriously - there are too many metaphorical banana skins lying around for that to ever be viable.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning fellow Kondoites
I wonder what lessons in life are going to come our way today
I for one am looking forward to finding out.
I have already had a lovely morning so far watching my garden Robin feeding its chicks what a lovely sight.
I think we all do have to take time to stand and stare as its amazing as to what you do see.Its the really small things that make you feel happy those tiny things that normally you just rush by and dont notice
Forgot to say yesterday another full bin bag of clothes and shoes gone to a friend who needs a bit of a boost at the moment and she was so thrilled with them. It made both of us happy and just the look on her face as she tried them on as she couldnt wait
I am now 95% happy with what I have left and from now on I will only buy things I really do need and that fill me with joy when I look and touch them.Even before I try them on
Nobody will bring me down today as I refuse to let them no matter how hard they try :rotfl:
Got a few jobs to do today including getting my Grey hairs Kondo'd but at least this time there will be no more than last time :DAs I no longer worry about the things I did.
As a wise person once said to me years ago 'Does it really matter' and the answer is 'no it did once but not now'
Have a lovely day what ever you have planned

Morning everyone! It is beautiful, bright and sunny here today and I am feeling happy:) got to work today so not much kondoing, but had a very brief look through photos yesterday to get an idea of what was in store. Found one of our flat from years ago, I couldn't believe how cluttered it was, you couldn't see any surfaces. What it made me realise was why I am doing this and even though I am not done, what I have achieved so far is a million miles away from what I saw in the photo, so I am clearly on the right path:j
Am really taking time to think about what my vision for my future is, and not getting wound up about not being there but happy to be working towards it, it is a work in progress but is fascinating at the same time:)0 -
Well, Konverts, we all seem to be on the same page today! I hope our joy gives hope to anyone who is not quite so chipper.
Clear blue skies here and full sun - always a bonus!
Thanks, GQ, for more wise insights and truisms.
Obviously, mrs-moneypenny, your MIL is 'old school' regarding her DIL!Very difficult, when the world has turned, and moved on, but she hasn't.
I kondoed a friend, of then 61 years, for her continuous, sharp/nasty/rude comments 3 years ago. It does get you down, but you can ignore it (sometimes, with difficulty!) I don't think you should apologise for MIL to others - it's her problem not yours. Just roll your eyes, to show others your disapproval! :rotfl:
You're having a good 'go' at your yarn stash! I haven't started that yet! Erm... there's a good DROPS sale at Will's Warehouse today... 35% off... and I'm wondering if I should buy a couple of balls of luxury baby yarn for Grandbump 2, due in November. Would you give in? Help!
Mav, I'm ignoring anyone who tries to 'rain on my parade'. I don't respond - it wasn't said, it never happened! :j
Yesterday I got very little kondoing done. I had to wear respectable clothes and be ready for a phone call to say that my car was returning from its repairs and MOT, so that I could return the driver. Waited all day, so no chance to play among the dust-bunnies! I got so bored that actually shined the bl00dy sink!
I did get thinking time, and mentally kondoed some more clothes!
So, I'm doing a full kondo day - books, the 'mental' clothes, plus maybe others that 'speak' to me, and consolidation of any clear areas. :jNeeds, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

Just back from a 10k run
PB time so all good
Sunny with a lovely warm breeze here so a lovely day for running.
People often ask me what I think about when I run as I nearly always run alone as thats the way I like itI can never answer them as I really dont know :rotfl:So today I thought I would keep a check on what I think about and now I am home I still cant remember what I thought about the only things I remember is the Green fields,How much the crops have grown in the last week or so. That the birds were singing and the sun was shining
and I didnt see one other person the whole time I was out
How much better does it get. So now when people ask what I think about I can say NOTHING :rotfl::rotfl:
Again years ago someone said 'I had a noisy Monkey mind' :rotfl::rotfl:Strange I know but they really did say that ! Think that Monkey has now departed my Brain and gone back free in the jungle and I am so glad about that

Mavymoo - running for you is a form of meditation as you are appreciating what is in the here & now rather than your mind running over whats happened & what could be happening. Refreshing your mind as well as your body - fabulous!
Just read back a few pages - some years ago I was on a management training course & we had a brilliant instructor who made the comment that we choose how we react to people and situations. It really resonated with me so now when I encounter rudeness in various forms I choose NOT to be enraged by it & let it spoil my mood or my day. I just think that I don't know what battle they are fighting....:)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
