Thanks to the poster who gave advice on carers allowance that's so kind of you to bother to do that
I live with two grown up sons. I did look into this but because don't live alone I don't qualify. It's a member of my family I care for. That's ok as posters have said its done out of love not duty or wanting anything back. Thanks again for your advice.

    Morning all
Hope everyone is well and has a good day.

Ironing basket was completely emptied yesterday with everything ironed/folded & put away as needed. Got a load out on the line I'm keeping an eye on and will bring in before work just in cast forecast is right but I've watered the hanging basket and tomatoes in case it's not.
Got a huge teddy at the carboot last Sunday a couple were arguing as I walked past she wanted to put a sign on saying free as she didn't want it to go home he said it was worth something. I asked if I could take it for £2 with the promise I would be donating it to my schools summer fete cuddly stall. They were both happy with my compromise. Teddy has sat on the settee all week and given us joy, the boys aged 15 and 20 have said they want it to stay BUt he's going to school with me today so is sitting waiting by the front door.

To make it worse ebay is doing my head in. I have one buyer who not only did not pay but did not collect and had the cheek to leave negative feedback. Three non payers and two new buyers who paid thurs and by Monday were demanding where their items were despite it being clearly stated that I post within three working days and only paying second class postage. If that was not bad enough I bought a guide hoody where IND, cuffs stretched and shrunk yet they say on,y worn once or twice. I put it up against old brownie one to compare it is that bad and the cheeky seller says I should have asked for measurements. I would have assumed that a top from the same company which was supposed not as worn to be in better condition than one I have had for years.

Sorry to rant and go on. Off to get the school/work run sorted.Hope you all have a productive day!

I would just open non paying strikes on all the non payers also the person who has left the neg do the same if they dont pay feedback will be removed when the case is closed. Just open a return case on the hoody and get it sent back. If you need any other advice go on the Ebay board where Soolin has loads of knowledge and will help you get the best outcome. I wish you luck.

I did sell a lot on Ebay but I now find its more hassle than its worth and no longer fits into my new Kondo life. I do understand that some need the money and feel they have to sell to recoup what they feel are losses.

I think you need to think about how many times you have to run to the PO where buyers (I say that lightly) Havent paid. The money comes in dribs and drabs so you have to go maybe 3 or 4 times where it should be once. Photos listings stupid questions non payers items not recieved and finally fees  For me it just isnt worth my time or sanity :rotfl: If I do ever sell I sell on local pages on FB as cash is paid, item gone and thats it done :) You dont get as much but who cares as the non hassle is worth the few £s:)

I am not made of money either but to me I never paid bills with the extra I just spent it back on Ebay or some other place that took PP so for me not selling is a win win situation. NO carp coming in :) and no dreading looking at my Ebay account ;)

Thats where I stand on this at the moment :rotfl::rotfl:Ebay no longer brings me joy, neither do bootsales or most of the shops. No longer joyful for me and I really cant believe I am saying that out loud and really mean it !!!

So sorry to all you good sellers out there (not the ones who send carp) and you do need the good and honest buyers and I really admire you for your strength and sheer will to keep selling with the problems it involves. But hats off to you :TAnd good luck.

    Have a lovely day all

I used to donate bedding and household goods to a charity which used to take donations for people who have been given a flat but had to furnish it themselves. I can't find them at all :(. The 5' bed I have available is in good clean condition and I would love to give to a charity like that. Some of the free cycle people I've had round in previous years have pleaded poverty and turned up in 4 wheel drive cars, very clean and smart looking! OH was not convinced of their plight and reckoned they were taking them to a car boot sale to sell.

    Going to google again............!

Contact your local foodbank - some of them have links with local charities for just this type of thing :)

I held off buying summer dresses as there was nothing that sparked anything like mild enthusiasm, let alone joy, in any of the shops in town.
Dropping a bag into the local CS yesterday, there they were on a rail, waving at me.
Crinkle pure cotton, a good length, short sleeves and brand new .... still grinning!

Well done on your joyful day, yesterday! :j Good thing nothing else got in the way - the weather here is a dull today. :o

That teddy could be the one I chazzered last year! I hate massive soft toys (and greetings cards!), even though my youngest son won it for me, on the rifle range, at the fair! :(

I had another LB this morning, but maybe I'll leave it today - don't want to bore non-woo Konverts, with philosophical musings! :rotfl:

I'm marching on today, bagging up the clothes I didn't do yesterday and some cleaning. I might also have a go at the vintage clothes that are in 2 suitcases under the bed. Should be with sentimental stuff really, but the time feels right.

    Good morning all.

Only 5 more files to clear out then filing cabinet will be finished. I am starting to feel a shift within me, although quite what I don't know yet. All I know is that I feel different.

My home is still very much a mess - now that I have pulled out the paperwork for the tax return, that is lying around on the sofa and the mess in my office is still there however now I know that I can file away things properly as I find them, I feel so much better. And it is lovely opening the filing drawers and seeing space rather than them being so crammed full nothing could be put away.

Today's task is to tidy the kitchen as it has been sadly neglected this week and there is a stack of washing up to do.
I will then have a go at catching up with some day to day admin so that doesn't fall too far behind.

Plan for the weekend is to tackle one of the piles of paper in the office. Looking forward to it very much - can't wait for the first one to go!

Thank you to everyone who has been sharing their insights and how their lives have changed during/post Kondo. It helps to keep me going, knowing that I am going to feel so much better once it is done.

iQueen, I love reading about your lightbulbs moments so please keep sharing them.

  • I disposed of a large teddy this week. It was over 3 ft tall and had been in the recesses of the loft but came to light when we had to move stuff out for the plumber.

It had been won in a raffle about 30 yrs ago by fil but had never been played with. It was poor quality and i did not think suitable for charity shop. I couldn't just put it in the bin, so reluctantly opened it up where the seam had already failed and took out the stuffing which i first thought i could reuse. However, it was tiny bits of foam mixed with small polystyrene beads and so much static that i ended up covered in it.

I wavered a little about keeping the covering, but ruthlessly stuffed it in the bag.

I wish i had found it at the end of last year when i made a pudsey outfit for my granddaughter, it was the right colour and she could have fitted inside it.:rotfl:

Lots of other stuff gone including 3 computers, so i must be getting better.

There's nothing in the rules about claiming CA that says you have to live alone.

You have to care for someone who claims certain benefits for at least 35 hours a week.
