    :) Morning all.

Lara, my blood is boiling on your behalf, what a ridiculous palaver - and I speak as someone who buys some of her furniture used. I have found the website of the Furniture Reuse Network; http://www.frn.org.uk/

It seems to be a site which signposts people to their local resources. Perhaps you might look on there and find a better charity locally to receive your bed? HTH.

I haven't been kondo-ing indoors much but have been busy on the allotment. As I have now kondo'd the scruffy bit at the top, I have nowhere to put things which are on their way out. Which is excellent, as it compels me to deal with them (bike them to the tip, usually) right away.

Lovely to hear about everyone's thoughts and breakthroughs as part of their kondo-journey. Keep 'em coming, please.

Welcome bossy, my kids are much older than yours (3 have left home!)and I still have an attic full they can't bear to part with. So I don't really have an answer, the general consensus seems to be that ok doing rubs off on others in the house so deal with your stuff and the kids may get on board and decide to help do theirs. You just need to keep reminding them what you are doing.

Good afternoon from the land of the Hongkese (i think it is really Hong Kongese, but honkese sounds much better :D).

I clearly can't do a lot of kondoing over here - but i am strenuously NOT shopping (maybe i should be in the NBI thread?). I say "strenuously" on purpose, there is stuff everywhere and people everywhere imploring you to have it. My colleague is busy filling up his suitcase with the "free" shampoo and soap and can't understand why i'm not :T. All i have is about a dozen cotton buds as they were in the same pack as cotton wool pads - cotton buds are so handy for clearing out manky plug holes at home (see my life is not always so glam :p) and they would otherwise get thrown.

I have not completely abstained from shopping however, I have bought three pairs of fake "Converse" and a fake football shirt for DS. I am still struggling a little as to how ethical this is - but for this time i have succumbed. I also have to confess to the purchase of a slightly larger suitcase - the purchases meant i couldn't get everything home, and i would like to bring some walking gear with me next time as HK is so hilly, lush and green that i really want to get into the hills. My cabin bag sized case and rucksack will not accommodate walking boots and wet weather gear.

DD is home for the weekend to move into her new room, so i am about to boss her from this distance as to what goes back. :p
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Morning Konverts! Hope everyone has nice weekends planned, even if it so so grey here.

Had a lovely man round already this morning to pick up some furniture bits that I no longer need. They're old pieces that he had other ones in the same line, so he was chuffed to find the rest of the set.

I am seriously considering Kondoing the telly. We barely use it and have another one in DH's office/man cave. The downstairs one is the only one connected to an aerial though, so DH doesn't like the idea of going without live TV - even though we rarely watch anything live and managed without for years in the past.

    Morning all,

I do hope that everyone is well.

No kondoing for me yet as RL has been getting in the way (minor marital crisis). Not even had the chance to read any of the bible.

Dh is on holiday for a week so i don't think i will get the chance to do very much of anything except the usual household chores.

Hope everyone has a happy and productive day,

    regards

O-M-G! Why do I have 52 pillowcases!? I have some which match duvets - I am going to match them up & store/discard as appropriate. My youngest (DS) is nearly 17, so all the kiddie duvet sets can go! I have realised that when my mum has a clear out she sees me as the CS! I have lots of donated pillowcases and tablecloths (I never use a tablecloth, except maybe at Christmas). I haven't counted the sheets yet (mainly fitted) but the pile is at least 2 ft high! (Most also donated by my lovely mother!) I should be able to get rid of at least half of this stash! My mum is coming over later, but I won't make her take it back :)

Good luck with that VJsmum! She knows she's out of reach for a while, so I hope you expectations aren't too high! :rotfl:

On the other hand, she may be SO impressed by your changes, that she gets tthe bug! I hope you left book handy! :D

Miserable day here - weatherwise, so I've got the urge to do some needed consolidation. I will be organising the 'stuff to go' in one place, moving a few things to better homes, clearing some usable space, plus the cleaning that will uncover. Also, have a couple of loads of recently worn discards to launder. (And some more current paperwork to see to. :()

I should start to see some real difference soon, even though there's a very long way to go. Another boost to my motivation! Yay! still

Good luck with the bedding, Goodintentions! I thought I probably had a record amount, with bedding for beds I no longer have! :rotfl:

Don't forget to check out 'how to store' tips - many have found that storing sets in one of the p/cases, makes 'filing' on edge easier and creates more space. Also, 'folding fiited sheet' videos and 'burrito' duvet changing! ;)

TVs: I kondoed my licence over a year ago - don't miss it at all - never crosses my mind! I need to wean myself off constant BBC Radio 4 - silence makes me feel uncomfortable after nearly a lifetime! Also, still need to get all the TVs out of the house, but haven't got to electronic komono yet. :o

Igamogam I think that is spot on about the engineered floor. The house is in an unfinished state with stuff like the flooring all over the place. My aim is to make the 'norm' a tidy organised home rather than a messy building site.

I always feel a bit jealous if I go to one friend's house which is lovely and tidy - everywhere. But then I look around at the house and see no books or kids stuff and actually in my house that is the stuff that brings me joy. So maybe an uber tidy house isn't always the best thing if it is just a show home. Mmm something to ponder.

Yes my very best buddy's house is just like that..........she is very organised and plans to the 'enth' degree verging on the OCD scale which she fully admits to and she has 'trained' her family and the dog ( but not the cat;)) to fall in line. I know I could just 'drop in' at any time of day or night and the house would be immaculate..............she is happy to be like that but its not my way. She is a big Fly Lady fan ......scares me silly:rotfl: She can be a bit OTT but its a good job those in the circle of friends know her......she once asked one of friends, in said circle, to pick up the car keys she ( friend) had put on living room floor whilst we were having coffee and a chat as 'they might scratch the wood floor:eek:..........like I said just a little obsessed :rotfl: I like to 'live' in my house. I would like it more organised tidier and not have to waste time looking for things sometimes but ultimately, lived in!!
