I found the Charity I have donated to in the past. They had on their website a list of items they wanted. Beds and mattress was top of the list. I phoned them, was asked if the fire label was still on the mattress, replied yes. They asked if the mattress had any staining and I said no but the bed did have four drawers underneath and one of the drawers had a tea or coffee stain on a small part of it. I have tried to get it out but it hasn't budged. Man on other end said he wasn't sure they would take it and would I agree to it being "dumped" at a cost to me, which I said no I won't have it dumped because it's in good condition apart from this stain. He said they'd come round in a couple of weeks and might take it. I also said I would give them a king size duvet to go with it. I didn't expect fireworks but they could have sounded more joyful. I did ask if they would come round and look instead of waiting nearly two weeks as if they won't take it I'll pass onto somewhere else but they don't do that. I'm now not too keen on donating to them. Someone out there would have a lot of joy sleeping in a good bed instead of on the floor. I wouldn't give a dirty bed to anyone, that feels me with dread.
I might give the food bank people a call if I can find their number locally. Thank you for that suggestion. I do need it to go quickly as I have family members arriving from abroad soon and the bed is laying on top of the other bed in the other spare room. I need to kondo that room ready to impress!
Lara do you go on FB? Track down your local FB page and offer it free of charge - someone will happily take it off your hands. Or sell it then donate the money to charity maybe?
Anyone else wondering how Gary is :rotfl:?A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

GARY is chillaxing in the airing cupboard, TROPICAL is going through a wash cycle as we speak and the towel du jour is boringly totally un-named.

This morning OH has been busy in the roof space kondoing carboard boxes, we have regular culls, but I think that they must breed up there! I totally overdid things in the garden yesterday, so am shattered today (i have low energy problems atm) so although not feeling up to much, I have been kondoing my shoes, I have a lot of shoes, that I love, but worn out ankles mean that many of them are not practical, now feels a good time to let them go. Seasonal ones to family member for selling for their holiday fund and some winter ones put aside for them to have when a better time for selling.
No thunder storms here, just steady rain all last night and this morning, water buts are full again and everything looks green and fresh, so one happy gardener here:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Whilst you all are busy doing your bits I have a mystery for you to solve. I havea hanging basket on the front of my house, it has a 99p plant in and doing really well. I last watered it on Monday.
On Tues water was on the floor underneath it.. No worries I thought just the excess.
Hot again on weds so come to water it but notice puddle under it.
Thurs comes still no rain, dry on floor, go off to work and when come back puddle under it. Decide to stick my finger in pot to casually sniff. No smell so assume water. Patch dries.
Friday same thing. Who the hell is watering my plant?
Friend suggested leaking gutter but with no rain not realistic and to be exactly under plant would be hard anyway.
Family at work. Neighbours say it not them.
Girls won first prize for float for brownies on carnival so really pleased and I'm now busy marking. Think for the first time in ages we might order pizza for tea... Don't normally as we buy our own and put the saved money in the rainy day jar! However, I have a fiver off a ten pound spend voucher so after this week feel we all need it!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Hi Konverts I read this today and thought it was very apt for this thread I hope you like it
A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"
Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything."
Remember to put the glass down.;)
Will catch up with all the new posts soon as been a bit short of time pond clearing

Haven't done much today except to drop off two bags at the CS. However, on the way back I popped in to the OH's flat and picked up a bagful of paperbacks that I'd left there to read three years ago! Haven't read them in that time then I doubt I'll read them now! The only one I kept was the original MSE book which I've been looking for. Perfect timing as I didn't want to pay for a second copy and our local library doesn't stock it.Looking ahead0

Thanks mavvymoo. If I start to worry I just think about something else. I don't know why I didn't do it before, perhaps it's a skill that comes with age :rotfl:OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Evening Konverts.
Progress has been slow here but DS2 has been plodding on with his stuff and has made extreme progress (his words). I have been in charge or getting all the stuff out of the house so CS runs have been done and some put in the scrap store bag. A few bits to consider selling but like lots of you ebay does not bring joy anymore.
DR looking better as all Governor paperwork is now filed. Need to move on to banks stuff again next and get the last of the paperwork done in this room. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
