:) Oh, am feeling slightly wibbly. Have come home to an appointment letter for Friday week; the council is sending their electrical supervisor to discuss the rewiring they've decided my flat needs, and what I will need to do to facilitate it.

I'm pleased about the rewire in theory, as more sockets in more sensible places will make life much easier, my flat is a 1970s jobbie when the most people were likely to be plugging in their living room would be a telly. But it does mean that every room will have to be pulled about to access them, and these are very small rooms, kitchen is only 6 ft square, for example, so to let them get at the walls, appliances will have to come out, and only one appliance can come out at a time and will have to go into another very small room.............

Eeek, if you could see this place, you'd know that it will be a very taxing thing to do, I'm already feeling sorry for the sparkies given this gig. We must make sure to order up smallish slim people so they can squeeze into the nooks and crannies.

Landsakes, Martha, it's going to be a bit of a job to get this place done. I should just move, it'd be easier to take all my belongings on a trip around the county in a truck than keep dancing them in and out like Tetris to access the sockets.

    :o And breathe............

One small step for womankind ... ... I just hung out every single sock in the laundry basket, including all the odd socks that end up in a laundry bag with the intention of pairing them again. As soon as this lot are dry - hopefully this evening as it's still sunny - I'm going to Kondo them. Any that are baggy - plus any that remain unpaired by the time I finish. Not a fun job but I'm going to ignore MK's advice this once and do it while watching tv.
    Looking ahead

Odd socks are the bane of my life too. Well they were pre-kondo. There are still odd socks in the house but they all belong to DD. I chucked mine, DS's and OH's when we did their clothes. Her clothes are the only ones left to go through the process but she is resisting. Anyway re odd socks. They just get chucked on her pile of stuff and I don't need to worry.

The kondoing has helped me to keep on top of the washing. It gets washed, dried, folded and put away the same day. Love it!

Also love the fact that when I walk into my living room and bedroom they are still tidy (except for the decorative pile of engineered flooring of course). Baby steps!

Mmm! I am not sure where to focus next. Son's bedroom- toys, DVDs and teddies? Kitchen again? Really want to get into DDs room!!!!

    Good Evening All,

Thanks so much for your kind words of encouragement ladies.
I am still rereading so i haven't discarded anything yet. With the exception of a fairly new jumper that i spied in the drawer. It looks like a tent in the drawer so i dread to think what it looked like on me!!!!!!

I am itching to restart but i am resisting thus far.

I am off to visit a very troubled but very good friend tomorrow who lives in a very cluttered house, i am hoping its a nice day so we can sit out in the garden as i am not comfortable sitting in that much clutter.

On a positive note i am not kondoing much of my chocolate stash either.

    onwards and upwards

    kindest regards to all

People do indeed react differently to the random happenings of life. I am very fortunate to have several friends with a wicked sense of humour when it comes to dealing with their own misfortunes or chaotic events and it does rub off! When we meet up for a good natter you can guarantee that no matter what has happened we have a really good laugh at the many and varied 'situations' that we find ourselves embroiled in.

I had a particularly difficult day not so long ago when a neighbour I was visiting suffered a heart attack while I was there. Luckily the ambulance came quickly and a couple of stents sorted her out! After i told my friend how worried I was she just said, 'well we just have to wish for one thing - let's hope that tomorrow is just an ordinary day with no great palavar'!

Could that be another motto ( to go with 'be nice or leave!', which I LOVE)
    - 'No palavars here!'
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

    Morning all
Iqueen I wouldn't be tempted to add to my wool stash but that's because it's still huge! As I run out of things for specific projects I may need to get them but mostly I'm knitting for good causes to clear what I have so at the mo stash busting is bringing me joy.
My extra work continues to bring me joy, I am really enjoying it I even went in yesterday for most of the day as a volunteer as the bunting needed putting together before the summer fete. I do need to find the balance of work, house work and completing the crafting I've volunteered that has deadlines attached (and of course taking care of mil) as it seems at the mo I'm working or crafting and the house is slightly getting left. I also don't want to lose sight of my kondoing. As I've a long way to go with that. It's not like I look round the room and I'll be happier when I've not got clutter I look at the clutter and think I don't need that any more it is not bringing me any joy at all! There are other things I just think I must put that away!

Have as good a day as you can all

Well things seem to be going backwards here. Dd2 is semi keeping her room tidy, I even caught her rolling a dress and then putting it in her drawer. The fact she put it with t shirts needs work but I was impressed!

The rest of the house looks like a bomb site. Dd1 just dumps stuff. If it was her room maybe it wouldn't bother me as much but it is everywhere. Normally I am on her case but with work, church meeting, activities, getting outfits ready for carnival and gcse marking I have just not got the energy. Roll on Saturday as thngs should ease up a bit then!

To make it worse ebay is doing my head in. I have one buyer who not only did not pay but did not collect and had the cheek to leave negative feedback. Three non payers and two new buyers who paid thurs and by Monday were demanding where their items were despite it being clearly stated that I post within three working days and only paying second class postage. If that was not bad enough I bought a guide hoody where IND, cuffs stretched and shrunk yet they say on,y worn once or twice. I put it up against old brownie one to compare it is that bad and the cheeky seller says I should have asked for measurements. I would have assumed that a top from the same company which was supposed not as worn to be in better condition than one I have had for years.

Sorry to rant and go on. Off to get the school/work run sorted.Hope you all have a productive day!

    Hi
Did some serious decluttering yesterday in between massive kitchen work day.

Said goodbye to 6 winter jumpers that had all done 3 winters. Quite a sad moment really. Had great value for money from them.
Also a winter coat that was serviceable but really never been worn sufficiently to justify space in wardrobe.
Have a surplus of handbags at moment. Will not buy more but will work through my heap. DD has her eye on 1 so that is a start.
Have a surplus of shoes. A pair for every occasion. All sorted, fit and comfortable so keeping them and simply not buying more until required.
Have found lost knitting stash and have some wool to knit up, but not a serious stash which is encouraging. My sister in Scotland as acquired a lovely supply of aran wool from a CS for me. So I need to clear stash to make room for next lot!

Fridge looks nicely decluttered and DD has her eye on freezer contents and is concerned I am non rotating stocks competently enough. Hurrah, DD is on side. 2 of us at the job will keep us on track.
    Have a good day all.

    Maria

Mavvy thank you so much for posting your list of things to be joyful about today, it has really made me smile.

Right I'm home alone now having decluttered the menfolk and have two choices, I can either spend the next couple of hours ironing in the back garden listening to the birds and a cd of my choosing. OR I can search the house for where DS1 left his iPod and walk it down to his work. Sounds mean but I'm going for the ironing I'm always running round playing seeker for other people's stuff they haven't put away properly and it's about time they learned.

    Have a good morning all
