Ivyleaf - you have my sympathies on the packing. I strongly suggest you extract your own suitcase from the boxroom and forget about the mess it might leave behind. I've got to pack for two trips - one small suitcase for a 2-night trip, and then either one large or two medium for a two week trip. Both work.
If you want to roll your stuff, suggest that shoes go in first - you roll your clothes to fit with the shoes and other bulky items, then OH's stuff can be folded and go on top.
I use clamshell-type cases and have one side folded (suits) and the other side rolled (shoes, makeup, gym kit, non-work clothes). It usually works pretty well. Although for the two week trip I need to work out exactly how many bags (and which ones) I need to take with me!0 -
I can't knit but I know that some of you can (and have wool to Kondo!) so thought I'd share this:

3fortheholidays, I've made quite a few of those in the past.they see very easy to knit. Thing that put me off was the amount of postage it costs to send them once stuffed. I try to support local charities I can deliver to now or places that allow you to post the 'flat packed' and they stuff them once they've arrived. Thanks for the link when I catch up I might see if I can do some more.SPC~12 ot 124

Evening all
Kondoed a pair of boots, quite expensive in excellent condition but with my foot worse than when I bought them not suitable anymore. My sister loves them so win win.
Just done an hour of kondoing governor paperwork, done very well, big pile gone, pile to take into school to be shreaded. I still have a pile on the table which is all work to be done but it is definitely progress and the shelf looks so much neater. Hoping the enthusiasm lasts to get it completed over the weekend. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Aw, thanks for the sympathyIt does help! I have got my "overnight stops" clothes packed, and some things are travelling in the back of the car on their hangers (because they were such a PITA to iron that I refuse to risk their getting creased!). Just got tee shirts, undies and jumpers to go in the big case now (jumpers on the advice of one of the friends we're visiting - we're going to Scotland and will notice the difference in temperature, I'm sure.)
We tend to take shoes in a separate bag when going by car.
I am physically unable to get anywhere near my suitcase, but DH has started a bit of Kondo-ing too, so I'm hopeful that it will be a lot easier to get at by the next time we go away!0 -
If you're going by car, then make OH suffer by filling it up with carrier bags of stuff that 'didn't fit in the suitcase'0

Thank you for this reminder.
Yes I do intend shredding the credit card statements, bills and anything else that has both my name and address on it. All other non confidential type paperwork will go in the recycling unshredded.
I will put some of the shredded paper in my compost bin and use some of it to put on top of the layers of unshredded newspaper with mulch on my flower beds to help keep the weeds at bay. Much more :money: than buying the perforated weed killing sheets from b and q.
I am finding that I currently have a ratio of 50% keep and 50% shred or recycle with the paperwork. I know this is much too high, but need to keep a few months of some paperwork as I am in the process of re-mortgaging and keep getting asked for up to date paperwork for 3 month blocks. I am also loath to get rid of historical pension paperwork, and was advised to keep all paperwork relating to my DS's medical assessments and his educational statement. The ratio may improve as I get to the older papers ...Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

I know mrs moneypenny, I have had Ronaldo's icecream before, we will have about 30 flavours to try and then will have to kondo them down to 5 for the cart (they supply 5 standard flavours as well - vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint choc chip and lemon sorbet).0
