I have redone my clothes well sort of. I have now got space between all the hangers in my wardrobe. Yay. I have cleared 2 carrier bags of stuff for the CS. It was bringing me no joy. It was a bit like the 'I paid a lot for this' that a lot of us have been going through. I thought that the CS might get something for it.

I do have some stuff to put on the bay of E but need to get a bit motivated to do that. i Pad has stopped charging so have had to borrow OH computer. Will have to take photos first.

OH told me I am 'not allowed' to buy clothes again if I sell or CS the pile that I have taken out of the wardrobe. What he doesn't seem to get that it is no good having clothes that don't fit, look terrible on, are 30 years out of date, are worn out and don't bring joy. That's why his wardrobe and drawers are crammed full of clothes!!!!!!

Anyone for a really ugly Joe Bloggs sweatshirt?

I'm still working my way through my clothes which is ridiculous given how many I've donated in the past few weeks. But am starting to see them in a new light. If they don't fit and don't flatter then they just make me feel down - the opposite of what we're doing here. Three more items here straight off the washing line and into donation bag. The wardrobe is finally done; there's a half a laundry basket to check and then it's the dreaded sock drawer. Hmm - it's huge and I'm sure I don't need a whole drawer of socks and tights so I'm looking forward to throwing and folding like mad over the next couple of days!
    Looking ahead

    Hi all

I am sooo pleased with OH. He has discarded 13 books and started throwing out computer games and CDs - no way was I stopping him even though we are not on that category yet!

2 bin bags of papers to go to the recycling tomorrow too. I think the kids are starting to get a little unnerved by all this clearing out!

Mollylou I can see how this Kondoing would not be for everyone and lets face it, you are not going to do this unless you want to do it. I would never impose my ideas on anyone else and I am being very careful with OH because I dont want him to turn around in the future and accuse me of making him throw stuff out!!

Have stopped for the day now. Might get a little more done tomorrow but I need to get to the tip first.

Ooh yet more inspiration from you all, and another group hug is required.
I've been derailed (sorry, no pun intended) this week by the paid stuff but am back in full Kondo mode tomorrow. I have to get going on 'old clothes', a category of discarded DS1 clothes that may or may not be suitable for DS2. It is quite a huge pile and will prob take more than one session but fortunately I can do it on the spare bed so there is no danger of anyone going sleepless if I fail to achieve it in one day.
Then its back to Room of Doom as although I did massively well in there on my first attempt - which was just sorting out the obvious carp and rubbish - I still have several boxes of 'stuff' that I need to go through to find out whether they even have a category.

Someone one the toiletries thread has a quote in there sig along the lines of if I had my time over again I would burn the pink candle shaped like a rose rather rather than letting it become damaged in storage.
It just summed up kondoing to me when I found it.

Night all I'm going to sleep in my tidy room with the wardrobe door closed properly tonight just In case anything else calls to me in the early hours!

Well work took up most of today but i did spend a few evangelical minutes spreading the KM word to a colleague! That fired me up so as soon as i got home i tackled a large file of work-related paperwork (payslips, contracts, pension stuff), shreading the superfluous stuff at the end AND then i did bank and credit card stuff. It was not really a huge task, only took about 1.5 hours altogether but it felt so good to complete both sets. :T

Am unlikely to get much more done before next week due to family commitments but will try and kondo my passport renewal form into the post!

You are still inspiring me, thanks everyone.

    I've been kondo-ing DVDs.

The incoming tide has been long since stemmed as any new additions to our collection are almost exclusively digital, and have been for some time. We are now culling the physical collection.

We used to have one of these in our living room

    8720076_R_Z001?$TMB$&wid=313&hei=312

which was overflowing with DVDs. When we finally found a sideboard we liked that would fit the same space, we replaced it, cramming the dvds into the cupboard. Unsurprisingly, this proved to be very ineffecicent when we wanted to watch a DVD as we had to dig through two layers of boxes to get the film we wanted. So today we 'bought' one of these

    1084331_R_Z001A_UC894036?$TMB$&wid=313&hei=312

(I say bought, it was free thanks to a voucher and nectar points :j). The bulk of our collection will be stored in these, and the empty boxes will move to the attic in case we decide to rehome the DVDs in the future. Our films are now easy to access and there is a lot more space in the cupboard... meaning I now have room to organise OH's gaming paraphernalia.

I haven't been kondoing in any particular order (forgive me sisters :D ), rather doing whatever takes me fancy at that given moment. However the living room is now very nearly clutter free, and it feels like such a haven now that there is less junk in the room. It gives me hope for the rest of the house. I'll get there in time :)

I'm slowly getting there with my clothes and toiletries. Only 3 weeks now til my baby is due and I cannot wait to bin my maternity clothes. They no longer spark any joy but I'm not buying new ones for the sake of a few weeks!!

I read today that Marie Kondo is pregnant with her first child. Thats going to be one tidy child.

Having done my wardrobes and drawers, it has made a difference already. I usually have my work clothes hanging up on the outside of the wardrobe for ease of reach and cos there is no room inside. It just always looked messy. Now they are all inside and the doors are shut.
I have been opening my curtains again and my windows, sitting in my room in silence (the km way of course) it is just so peaceful listening to the birds outside. Appreciating my space again.
I have always been grateful that I have my own house and am lucky to have a roof over my head and a decent job but I have never really fully appreciated it, just took it for granted and never really loved the space. It was just somewhere we lived. I need to start loving it again I think. I guess I have always been in the mindset that I look for somewhere else to move to eventually. Its not a very settling way of life and so my mind never settles if that makes sense.

Let's hope, with all the money she has made, that she employs a nanny - then perhaps the little mite may have a normal-ish upbringing! :)

Strangely, all my cupboards, wardrobes, and drawers have never been over-filled, they all shut easily and some were EMPTY, even pre-kondo. :exclamati

All my Stuff is out in the open! And a complete mess!

I think my un-needed possessions have been trying to tell me to get them (and my cluttered mind) sorted out! :D

I love my house, so I should be showing it, (and telling it)? ;)

I'll do it now as I head up to bed! :) Maybe the house will start to help me, and my kondoing will speed up now? :rotfl:
