I have seen a painting that we like - but auntie would not have liked it. Now I don't know what to do - I am looking for someone sensible (as you all are) to help me see wood for trees......
Does it spark joy? Do you love it or could you find better? The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Morning Mrs Mp
MrsS Is good to hear you had a better day yesterdayYep that is always what I tell myself 'One day at a time' or even an hour at a time in some cases. Its the only way to go I think.
Planned for today. Back to clothes again at some point  Still nagging doubts and still not quite right with the joy issue :rotfl:I also hate my hangers so need to cull cull cull and then buy some nice wooden ones like another kondoite did (sorry cant remember who)
Could still pack my house up and leave in 2 hours I reckon but would like to shave a bit off that time
Going to also kondo some mugs today as I keep looking at them and cant find the spark of joy thereI have tried as DH likes them but I am sure he wouldnt notice if they vanish
NorfolkDream your very wise DD is right with the clutter issue I put everything in its right place. As she said it sticks out like a sore thumb. Nothing spends longer than about 2 mins in the wrong place or it drives me mad and it has to go.
A friend came round yesterday and put her handbag on the worktop and I was itching to put it in the cupboard :rotfl:I didnt as she had only just popped round to pick something up(more kimono going out the door) But if she had been here much longer think I would have :rotfl:
Going to start decorating our bedroom as I feel that it needs doing and I need to inject a bit of colour. as its Cream so I have got a lovely shade of Bluebell Blue Which will remind me of the amazing Bluebell woods I ran in yesterday. So in the Winter when its cold and dull my bedroom will give me even more joy
So need to get on with that as well as the clothes round 5 kondo
and the ironing
Have a joy sparking day

Morning everyone
I am probably not going to get much done until next week now as we are away for the weekend.
I am trying to keep things reasonably tidy as I do this otherwise I will get really fed up - another reason to get stuff out of the house as quickly as possible.
I am sticking to the categories - it didnt work for me doing it by room/area first time around - but I am also seeing things that need to go and dealing with them there and then. Just wish we had a bit more room in the bin, everything that goes to the recycling has to be sorted and I understand why but sometimes you just end up with a bag of oddments and you dont know what to do with it!0 -
Morning all.
I was cogitating in the gap between waking and getting up this morning. I wake very early when the mornings are light but don't get up at 5 am or I'd have to be in bed by 7 pm. I do some of my best thinking at these times, and also when I am gardening.
I was thinking about a top which I've worn as recently as last week but am not really happy with. Haven't been really happy with it since I bought it, tbh, but it was one of the rare things I've bought new so felt that it somehow owed me something.
Decided that this is a silly attitude, it was a TK Maximus, wouldn't have been dear, so got up and took it straight from the drawer and put it into the charity donation bag. Then I brought up my Word doc Clothing Inventory, and removed it, and discovered I only paid £4 for it in 2009. Not worth getting brain-ache over, now was it?:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning all
Did well with the massive pile of paperwork I took to cricket yesterday, the one to be got rid of are in the recyling, shredding pile and donations bags. The ones to be filed will be done today and I will go through the files at the same time. The piles on the floor are much smaller and I can finally see this section of paperwork being done by the end of half term. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Funnily enough I was cogitating as well during the early hours. We have those big fitted sliding doors that hide the area the wardrobe shelves and hangers are fitted in and last night they hadn't been completely closed so I can see stuff popping off the top shelf one end. Th e clothes have been done in there and I'd briefly gone through the stuff that's stored and CSed some of it but there's a big folder from when we won a holiday to Disney in 2000, it has all the travel inventories, left over loose change and various bits in. I made a big photo album with park plans photos and the diary fil kept while we were there in elsewhere so why do I also need that. I also have most of the children's school and baby photos piled up in there. Plan is to make them an album each of their own childhood photos which I think they would all like. So today I will go through that area.
I know kondoing should be done by category not room or area but as its calling to me it must be time for it to be kondoed.
The ornaments on the top of the cupboards keep calling to me as well. I have a fairy up there that really should live in the garden, and some of the children's christening stuff and glasses that just sit there gathering dust.
There is a pair of salt and pepper pots that bear a passing resemblance to our cat who died four years ago, reason they were put up there, when I was given them my immediate thought was "oh lord if anyone notices these I'll be inundated with cat gifts that look like our moggy," so they got tucked up on a high shelf in our room.
The. Bathroom has a substantial rubber duck collection that I'm in 2 minds about, some of them bring me joy and visiting children always comment on them. But I don't want them adding to. Some smaller nonjoyful ones have already been removed from the bathroom to see if they are missed. In which case they will either be offered to the person who misses them or get popped in the school fete collection bag.SPC~12 ot 124

LOL - I find it really hard to admit that I made a mistake. Always hated being wrong. But, it is OK to make mistakes - doesn't Marie say that it taught you what suits you and what doesn't? Therefore no mistake - thank it for the lesson, set it free and let someone else enjoy it.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Made good progress on the shelf
A carrier bag of assorted photos, old travel info and paper stuff to go through and recycle or shred accordingly. Also revisited my make up drawers, 7 bottles of nail polish I won't use are going to be offered to a friend or give. To the summer fete collection. 10 lipsticks I won't wear again and some are old and smell gone off, are all being thrown away. A couple of sick paintings are going in the Cs bag.
The photos for the children have all been sorted into 5 different folders so when the time comes to do photos downstairs theirs are all sorted and ready to add to.SPC~12 ot 124
