Seems like a lot of people have been decorating as well as Kondoing. We have finally finished ours in DD2 bedroom just in time for her to return from Uni. We were going to put up some sort of patterned wallpaper but ended up painting it all white.

We have put a chest of drawers, double bed and bedside table in. I am loathe to put a wardrobe in. I might just see if she can kondo anymore stuff.

We still have her books in our room so I am trying to get her to read Marie's book. She doesn't like clutter and mess but likes to keep some things. She might be persuaded to let some go to a new home as they are kids books and she is 20.

I am so pleased with how beautiful and tranquil the room looks. I might post some pics when I have got her to release her books.

Good luck to all those doing their rooms. It is such a great feeling.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments...think I've been a bit too enthusiastic and bitten off a lot though:ee

Instead of stripping wallpaper today I sorted through all my clothes, shoes, handbags, scarves....i love scarves...and jewellery. Another three bags for the charity shop on Monday!

I also filled two with old curtains, bath mats and Tupperware stuff that I once 'had to have'. Where does all this stuff come from??! Anyway, rooms are a bit tidier and I'll start stripping during the week:rotfl:

Tomorrow's plan is to take things a bit easier so wee trip to ikea to order furniture. Was feeling a bit overwhelmed earlier so will slow down a bit.

Love reading all your comments, what you get up to and great ideas, really inspiring bunch here!!

    Morning everyone.

Been reading along daily. You are all doing so well. Keep it up! :T

I had a bag of odd socks that had been hanging around for EVER!

Decided their partners weren't coming back so got rid. Sorted out the remaining socks and bought new ones for the kids.

I now have a bag of odd socks! How the heckity does that happen?!

:p Odd socks are the larval stage of coathangers. If you count, you will see an increase in the number of coat hangers which exactly matches the number of lost socks.

I am well-socked but have long term plans for buying socks all-of-a-kind when I do need to have new ones, to avoid the odd-sock issue altogether.

Oh, and the socks which become coathangers spend part of their life-cycle behind the washing machine drum, it's the ideal habitat, apparently.

    Evening all

YL I wrap jewellery in recycled tissue paper for the CS

Feeling I've hit the wall. Just been into the loft to put something away and felt totally overwhelmed. I am sure you have all felt the same at some point. I'm struggling to prioritize time for kondoing so progress is very slow. Trying to decide whether to spend the weekend gardening, cleaning, kondoing, all need doing badly or I could sit watching cricket at the club.

Hi Dusty-same with me and the loft stuff,I sorted all the just-in case-cardboard-boxes out.Made a fantastic difference.
    Now for the material-CS/chuck/patchwork
Do whichever irritates you most, but social time is good!
I save bags off greetings cards and put jewellery in those for recycling

Our house looks like a bomb has hit it. Bags in our bedroom to go to CS, a bag of rubbish on the landing, some cardboard in the kitchen. Then there is laundry that needs to go away on the stairs and I dont think I have been in the living room at all this weekend!

As Jellybaby says we just keep asking ourselves where did all the stuff come from and why did we keep it?

We have had many trips to the tip but still there is more to go.

DS is at cricket this morning then I think I will try and get everything set straight this afternoon before I do any more. I am not entirely happy with how my bedroom cupboard is organised but its not finished yet. Dont know whether to forget the category rule and just sort the whole cupboard or stick with the plan knowing I will get there eventually!

    Jellybaby -

I also need to Kondo several million (feels like :D) plastic plant pots - what does everyone do with these? They're all washed but I have enough to last me for several lifetimes even if I throw out the slightly damaged ones.

I recycled mine to the local allotmenteers-they actually wanted them

Whilst, in theory, this should work I have found that the manufacturers then stop making that kind of sock, or even that shade of black. I am using up some odd socks as decorating gear, to go in the bin after use stripped off at the door of the room so that paint doesn't get trodden around the house.

DS room is finished :T (some photos of upcycled wardrobe and bookcase on the MMM thread). He has Kondoed more than half his cuddlies, i am working on books with him today. As ever he will get a cooling off period in which to change his mind. DDs cooling off period is nearly up as I want to do a chazzer run on Tuesday. DD didn't want her desk and he wants one, so it remains where it was, as we didn't change the carpet that works well as you can't see the dents! I was just sat here thinking about getting him an office chair when I realised we have 2 in our office (sounds posh - read junk room, this is on the list but will be a while yet) so he can just have one of those.

I love that this thread together with MMM and NBI (what's with the TLA's :rotfl:) really make you think before you rush to the shops.

:) Yeah, know what you mean about manufacturers, which was why the cunning plan is run the sock-ventory down to near zero then have a mass-buying session to get all-of-a-kind sockery going.

Life can be complicated, so any little bits of simplification which this simpleton can achieve will be very welcome.

:p I sometimes wear odd socks in black; no one is going to crawl up your trouserleg at work and discover that one of your socks is 2 inches longer than the other.

Umm, or not at my workplace, anyway, maybe other have more colourful working lives.
