  • Jellybaby, congratulations, you are a true Konvert!

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment as I Kondoed the other half of my wardrobe this morning (I did tops, cardigans etc a while back but left dresses, jackets and trousers till now). I realised that I don't love some of mine but can't throw them out - for example I need a black jacket for work purposes. I'm keeping the two that I have, but I am going to save up for a really good quality one replacement, too many of my clothes have been bought on the principle of 'it'll do'.

That got me thinking about the whole MK thing - it is very much about NOT saying 'it'll do' but making positive choices. I think women in particular are prone to saying this about themselves. I know I've put up with some things (and I'm not just talking clothes and possessions) because I was brought up with a 'don't make a fuss/it's not about you/just get on with it' attitude. Without wanting to sound like a tacky skincare commercial, I'm worth it!

MK's book might not quite be The Female Eunuch but I think it has an underlying feminist agenda! :rotfl:

Pollywolly you are so right. MK somehow makes us examine so many thing.

I have a pile of stuff from DS1 and DS3's rooms now to allocate to CS, ebay etc and then I'm dusting my bedroom which is all tidy and hoovering an washing the bathroom floor.

DH has been dispatched to take DS3 to cricket and to pop into Mr L.

Once this is done I can enjoy an hour in the garden and an hour at cricket.

That's why i think this thread sits well with the "Frugal Frump to Fab" thread on the Health board.

Mind i don't feel very fab, in my paint covered jeans and tshirt with my hands covered in wax. :o

Bedroom is nearly finished - but i am not sure i can ask DS to do much sorting before moving in as currently his team is losing 5-0 before half time :p He isn't in the best of moods.

An amazing amount of stuff is coming out of DS1's room.

I just went to get a couple of vases to put some FMKs in before ripping them all out so I Kondoed them whilst I was there as they are just about all together, there is now space to put the others so they are all together. I need to do a CS drop this week!

Turns out the Amazon Trade-in is fairly straightforward.
Took a box of books to PO this morning, now just got to wait to see if they accept them all.
Interestingly a couple were showing a lower price than when I first looked and three others had changed to 'not accepted'.
Now need to decide if I want to try them again or just CS them so they are gone.

I also need to Kondo several million (feels like :D) plastic plant pots - what does everyone do with these? They're all washed but I have enough to last me for several lifetimes even if I throw out the slightly damaged ones.

With us this is a classic example of keeping things just because we didnt know what else to do with them! We had boxes of them stacked under the work bench in the greenhouse - over the last couple of weekends they have been bagged and taken to the recycling at the tip.

8 pairs of shoes, 6 handbags, 10 necklaces and 4 scarves gone in the charity shop bag. Several other bits in the bin. DS and OH have been hard at work in the shed and greenhouse and a whole car load has just set off for the tip.

I have had a few of aww moments - my grans pearl earrings that I wore on my wedding day, the watch OH bought me for my 21st and a wallet full of congratulations on the birth of your baby boy cards!! The latter of which I have yet to let go.

Oh and books, I have a box of old Famous Five books that will have to be dealt with at some point.

I offered plant pots on recycle and they were snapped up by allotment people and the local primary wanted some for their new gardening club.

:o I do things like that. Finding a few things which need to go live in someone else's wardrobe.

Been busily weeding, and thinking how nice it was to be heading away from the city centre into the 'burb where the lotties are, rather than heading inwards to Go Shopping. I had the sun and the wind, the fluffy clouds, the blossoming trees and the birdies singing their little hearts out. Some poor s0ds were trolling around inside the mall and up and down the shopping streets.

One of these days, I shall have to Go Shopping for something, like the replacement of my solitary pair of shoes, and I am already dreading it.

Have done a dump run with the ik!a bagful of grass clippings off the allotment. I also kondo'd two self-set seedlings of ruby chard which I was weeding straight into the cheese roll I took for my allotment lunch. I have reserved three small chardlings which have popped up in the way of the carrots to share the same fate tomorrow. Saladings don't get any fresher than that, hey?:rotfl:

Posted my shampoo bottle and a few other recycables into the recycling bin (best place for them, really) and enjoyed the feeling of using up and getting rid. Have been given 2 newspapers and 2 magazines by a neighbour this afternoon, flicked thru and read the few bits which interested me, then put them into recycling.

Normally, they'd've been kicking around the sitting-room for a week or two before I dealt with them. Oh, and I got a pensions letter, opened it immediately, recycled the envelope and read and filed the letter, in less than 5 mins from first handling it. Way to go!
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

So proud of myself.... Put together dd bed and in her room. Mattress gone from front room. Four storage boxes under her bed. One with general keepsakes, one with her keepsakes e.g. Certificates etc she wants to keep ( I don't mind this as we had so much fun going through mine from when I was little!) then she has got one with all her lego friends in and one for her dolls. She says I can get rid of her baby annabel stuff but asked if she could keep the doll. Fine by me, she has cots, wash station etc in my room and downstairs so more space. Yeah!
Also put her new duvet on and one curtain... Ran out of hooks!

    Bring on tomorrow!!
