:) Material things which make me happy.............

The 50p scenic calendar bought from a chazzer in later February - loving those pics.

The 50p bit of vinyl tablecloth with lovely flowers and fruit - another chazzer.

The bootsale curtains and matching chazer cushion (£6.50 together) and the snuggly fun fur blanket for a £5 from another chazzer.

The silicone rubber spatulas from Mum for Xmas two years ago - very much joyful items in daily use.

Immaterial things which cause outbreaks of joyfulness; the fluting calls of the blackbirds outside at dawn, the hot blue of the cloudless sky when I got up this morning, the robin which was helping me with the gardening last week, good friends to natter to.

Oh, and the teapot, must reload that for immediate joyfulness......:D

    O.M.G. !!!

Sometimes RL gets in the way... with a vengeance!

Was wondering what to deal with today, when I saw an important document to file. The file slid down the back of the 2-drawer filing cabinet, as I reached for it.

Moved furniture, and 'stored' :D stuff from the vicinity. Retrieved embroidery supplies from an adjacent shelf, (for the sampler I need to do for a friend's Civil Partnership).

Discovered a heap of ring-binders, and lever-arch files - some full of past crud! (Several times, over the past few weeks, I have shilly-shallied about buying more, for when I 'do' paperwork!) :o

After moving the printer, and the paper-storage thingy beneath it, I grabbed the barbecue tongs  from the kitchen. Recovered the file, (together with a heap of unused greetings and postcards that were also down there!) and filed the document. ;)

NOW, I am surrounded by a large amount of Stuff... IT IS NOT GOING BACK!

I am really fighting mad! I had looked forward to tackling this mass of stored stuff in the living room... eventually... when I had enough space to sort it. :( I will be sublimating my anger in vicious discarding!

So, temporarily, MK's list is on hold, because this lot is going to be kondoed down to 1%. :T Shame it's raining or I would be having a bonfire!

Just shows how mysteriously this MK thing works. (Is she a Witch?) I was trying to get off the starting blocks for a Mav-type whirlwind attack, in the proper order, but obviously the powers behind MK have decided otherwise, and pushed me into this head-first! Woo.

This will be quite a step forward and will leave me with a seriously visible space, in the room I spend most waking time. It is in a corner so, not useful in kondoing, but it will stay empty and provide a serious incentive to keep going.

    Happy! Happy! Happy! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:) I think we kondo-ites must be channelling the same categories.

OK, I decided to do the paperwork, which caused some shredding, so decided to empty the shredding because I needed to vac and some shreddings always go on the floor.

Did that, and vac'd and remembered a lost papery item which I thought I'd find when doing the files, and was it down the back of the pooter desk...? So lay on the floor with a torch to shine into the 1.5 inch gap under there, didn't see it but found a tablet and a shred of (probably :o) cheese and enough fluff to stuff a cushion, so had the desk out and vac'd and damp dusted and cleaned the floor.

Still haven't found the papery thing but I feel happier for having eliminated the space I searched from the quest, plus having de-fluffed and de-cobwebbed it.

I'm not particularly slovenly, but this is a heavy blockboard desk, the kind with a back, and it's loaded with a mahoosive desktop PC, my stero, printer, 6 speakers and a spaghetti junction of cabling which I fear to disconnect by random furniture-movements.

Now, to retrieve the laundry from the washer and get the tea on. Onwards!

iQueen MK does work in very strange ways. At least everything is out in the open now :rotfl::rotfl:Good luck with it all :)

Nothing done today as been running in a stunning national trust park today filled with Bluebells near me. Did a 4.5 mile run and enjoyed every second of it and wondered why I dont run there more often

Then thought because I would have loads of washing and housework to do at home normally so would be rushing back to get things done.

So then decided to pop in to a little fishing town nearby(in my running gear) and spent 2 hours wondering round looking in the little shops and drinking coffee overlooking the beach :)

What a wonderful way to spend a day :) Will I be doing it more often ? Yes as now thanks to Konmarie I feel much more relaxed and able to spend time just being me :D

Tommorow I am going to go to the beach to spend time looking for fossils and just walking and taking it all in.

This beach is about 2 miles from me and I have not done the beach thing for about 5 years

I love this way of life :) Will finish the kitchen in the next couple of days then my house is done and finished :) Then on to the garage.

Sorry ladies I seem to have started a furore with the grey hair :o

I think I started the furore. I'm glad you laughed as that was my intention.

Of course its sexist and hypocritical I think it's more down to their insecurity. They view me as the young one. So if the young one's going grey , how old must they be?

So far I've managed to take this thread off track with sun cream and hair dye. I'm vainer than I thought

    I've been Money Tipped!
Marking today, but in a break finished looking through the spare duvets and pillows. Ditched 2 old pillows and neatly vacuum packed the rest, now stored under the bed all labelled so I can see what we've got.

I've only done a couple of categories but I have been left with a MOUNTAIN of empty baskets / storage boxes / files etc. As I chuck stuff, I keep the box / basket it was previously kept in, because I am still kondoing and want a supply of different sizes. It's actually getting in the way now! I think when I have done the WHOLE HOUSE I will be able to get rid of any of these storage containers that are left, that will be my sign that I have FINISHED!

ETA - I am also working on papaerwork next, weird we're all in sync!

    Hello All,
Glad to hear everyone is still keen! :T

I've finally finished the kitchen. When I say kitchen it wasn't the room but all the pots, pans, tableware, cutlery and equipment.

When I came to the ubiquitous "kitchen junk drawer" full of non-kitchen related items, pre Kondo days I would have started to sort that too and got distracted. This time I tipped the lot into a box to sort when I'm Kondoing miscellaneous. It was so good to free up a drawer immediately and find homes for kitchen related items in the drawer instead.
I'm hoping there will be no need for a junk drawer by the time I've finished the house. I bet we don't even look in this box full of junk before I sort it in a month or so.

I have boxed up lots of kitchen things for the charity shop - I may take them tomorrow. My biggest achievement was letting go of 10 Royal Doulton cups and saucers. I had kept them because they matched the dinner service but I've only used them once because everyone prefers mugs so out they go!

My kitchen is working so much better now. I pulled everything out and rearranged pretty much every cupboard. Driving the family mad though, because things have all moved home! :D

I couldn't work out why I didn't free up THAT much more space at first.
Then I realised it was because:
    1. Things aren't so crammed in and have much more space
    2. I have cleared a lot of stuff from the work tops into the cupboards so that has taken up room.

Now all I have on the work tops is the kettle, sugar & tea cannisters, microwave, bread bin biscuit tin (may "cupboard" that soon) and Kitchenaid. Soooo much easier to keep clean! I love it.

Sorry, I've written an essay again...

    Morning all

I've had a couple of days without kondoing due to time constraints (and an obsession with the GE if I'm honest) but my plan is to get back to it this weekend and that means back to paperwork. I shall continue to concentrate on the DR stuff for now before moving on to DH's office.

Good news is I got the job. It is 21 years since I have worked in an office (been at home bringing up the boys) so I'm quite proud of my little self to get the first thing I have applied for. It is P/T but that is time I am used to having so I will need to be more organised, with KM (our friendly witch) on my side I'll be fine.

Congratulations Dusty Kitten :T. I hope you enjoy your new job.

No more Kondoing for me, off to Cornwall for a couple of weeks. When I get back it will be paperwork for me. It sounds as though you will all have finished yours by the time I get started on it.

    Happy Kondoing everyone.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

    Congratulations DustyKitten! :j

Not sure what the plan of action is here today.
A skip should be arriving (hubby needs to dispose of some rubbish from work) so if that's the case and there is spare room left in it then it may well be garden and shed Kondoing.

Otherwise I may start paperwork.
I'm dreading this section because I have years and years to sort.
I'm going against the rules and not putting it all together to sort/discard because there is way too much and it will be overwhelming.
I have a largish pile of papers in the kitchen so shall start on that first then work my way through the various boxes and bags that are all over the house! :o
I plan to discard and sort but not properly store until it is all done.
I'll temporarily store each "lot" in a cardboard box until I'm ready to collate what is left and store properly.

Have a good day all. :)

PS is anyone else noticing more spiders about the home because we are disturbing THEIR homes?!
