Hello to all you lovely posters. I have spent some hours reading the thread over the last few weeks and my goodness you and KM are brilliant!

I just wanted to shout out for now. I will post a little bit about my ventures into KM-land soon but suffice it to say that it does seem to be changing my life, as a few others said, opening new doors as well as really hitting the button with regard to finding joy in things, unshopping other things and generally getting organised.

Off to Kondo some leftovers for lunch.

    M
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Re what others have said about new doors opening once you start kondoing, after years in the same job, I have randomly been offered extra hours doing a slightly different job as well at the same place, couldn't believe it when it happened, everything just seems to be falling into place. I know I have less time now but it is infinitely more rewarding and I'm enjoying life so much more and do feel more interesting and fulfilled.
Easily pleased I know - I now have two part time jobs and I'm up at the top of the happiness tree. But it's whatever floats your own personal boat isn't it.

Just posted three ebay parcels. Two more bits to go tomoz. They were toys that dd no longer plays with, although every time I have said do you want these any more she normally decides to play with them that instance and then not gain until I ask.

This means I can use the money to get her wallpaper... Result!

Have rung council to take away old furniture.

Am also in the process of going through a tub I have been throwing bits in as i random KD. Still not got the book yet but reading the thread had kept me motivated that all these bits will pay off in the long run!

I've been meaning to ask, how do you reconcile KM with prepping? Do they not feel like polar opposites? Or can you be a minimal prepper? I did read the SHTF thread with interest and learned a lot, but decided not to go too far down the road - I think my need for space over-ruled my need to stash IYSWIM.

I live in a rural area which has numerous power cuts plus I have a chronic illness so need to keep a few things to hand - definitely a minimal prepper. I think it's a case of taking into account your own personal circumstances and priorities and deciding from there.

That's amazing - I'm so hoping that my life will start looking up once the clutter is gone.

Very little done since my post last week - just a book which I've read has gone back to its owner. Recycling bin has lots of space and is emptied on Thursday so need to get cracking this evening and tomorrow to fill it.

    Morning Konverts!

Just read on MN that Our Great Leader is pregnant!

Steep learning curve ahead, methinks. :rotfl:

Aha another book opportunity ??????????? Dread to think how she will cope with the tranclements that come with having children;)

TRANCLEMENTS:not sure if this word exits but its been used in our family for as long as I can remember and if it does exist I have probably spelt it wrong!

Edit: think it is spelt tranklements - means bits and bobs, paraphernalia!

I'd heard that word and knew what you meant igamogam, I'd have described it similar to how you did as well, it's along the line of paraphernalia or acutriments isn't it?

In my bit of rural Shropshire it was always tranklements too:D, sadly I have forgotten many of the local dialect words and variations, I wonder if these were used else where:-
cunna -cannot, munna - mustn't, dunna - dont, wunna - wont, how bist? - how are you?

There is a company making rather nice pickles and condiments called Tracklements.

    :) Morning all.

Loving the word 'tracklements', never heard that one before but it has a lovely ring to it, doesn't it? PB was very taken with it, too, and woke up to demand a tracklement of her own, and was told No! and is now sulking.

For the second morning in a row I walked into my sitting room and it was spacious. That's pretty remarkable for a 12 ft by 9 ft room, one wall of which is completely occupied by a radiatior and the sliding door into the kitchen. But it does look spacious and I can't get over it............:o

The room isn't flawlessly-tidy, there are still a few bits of carp which need sorting (bliddy fish get everywhere, don't they?) but it's soooo much better. And I'm getting better at dealing with Stuff which I bring into the home. Some stuff, like election leaflets, doesn't even hit the floor as I take it straight from the external mail box and put it in the recycling bins outside.

This KM stuff is amazing, and if the lady herself wants some tips on raising a child without too much clutter, she could wander over to Miss Minimalist's website and read her reports of childrearing.

Today's plans are work (definately), quick visit to a pal, then up to the allotment for a small amount of work, should the energy hold. Can't tell that until I arrive at this afternoon, so we'll see how the day pans out.

Have a good Kondo-day, everyone or, if not able to Kondo, a restful day recuperating and planning the next assault.
