Don't wish it on anyone else if you don't think it will bring them joy. In the recycling with it :D. In the same way I did with 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' - got 1/3 way through, wished he'd taken a gun to his mother as well and dropped it in the rubbish bag on a Ryanair flight :T.

I've never thrown a book away, in my adult life - librarian as well as a teacher! I shall feel really guilty putting it in the recycling.

I shall donate it to the CS, along with the copy of 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' that my daughter raved about, and passed to me, unasked for! I couldn't get further than a third of the way through either. At least, it won't be my decision to junk it/them! :rotfl:

Am eating from the leftovers and have saved some grocery money and donated it to the Nepal appeal on the grounds that their needs are a thousand times greater than mine, the poor beggars.

Thanks for the reminder - meant to donate this morning. Will do it now, before I forget again.

I have spent 9 hours tidying my house following everything in the book :)
4 full bin bags of junk gone from 2 small bedrooms. clothes folded in the drawers. Upright so I can see whats there
2 full bin bags of clothes I didnt really love gone to chazzer shop :)
6 pairs of boots and 7 pairs of shoes gone
Dressing table all done now in perfect order. The bin I used to store overspill items gone :j
The metal tray that was on my dressing table.Thanked for catching my clothes and arms on the sharp sides for the last 20 years GONE.

Fabric returned to friend who gave it to me which I never used same friend given a pair of boots that she had admired a while ago and were a tad tight on my toes.

Feel so good :) Going to deep clean both rooms tommorow.

I now have 2 spare drawers under bed. 4 spare drawers in the tallboy (thingy) 2 spare drawers in my chest of drawers.
I honestly cant believe how much more space I have got now.

One thing I hate in my house is the duvet I have got its so thick and lumpy  So on Thursday I am going to give it to the animal charity and buy myself a new one.

I am also going to start on the 13 :eek: Junk drawers in my lounge tommorow as well as deep cleaning the 2 cleared rooms :D

:) Righty, came in from work and found I had 5 items of 'post'. Anyone ever been tempted to weld the letterbox closed? Two were takeaway leaflets, so straight into the recycling. Two were white envelopes in mufti but when I opened them were policitcal bumph from our torydem muppet plus A.N. Other Party. Wherever do they get my name and address from?
    ...

Its from the electoral roll - election time means they can request names & addresses of those in their constituency for canvassing purposes.

Ours is being collated in a heap for perusal this weekend to determine if any of them have any necessary criteria worthy of my vote :D

Blimey - just found a receipt in OH's drawer from 1994. we moved house in 1998 - so he moved a four year old receipt  it was for a meal out in rather a posh restaurant.

A meal for four came to £90.10 - bottle of wine £8.95; dessert £2.45

    Main courses- £7.95 - £13.95.

We recently took another couple out to a similar restaurant (on company expenses) and the bill came to £210!

He also had two duck whistles (whistles shaped like a duck - don't ask), 5 conkers, a diary from 2009, a multitude of other receipts covering the last 20 or more years.

On the upside, a whole bunch of K'nex (kids stuff, bit like lego-y mechano) has been Kondo'd to a friend who has acquired some step children. He has a mechanical "bent" so will be able to really do stuff with it, with them - far better than it languishing in storage. I put out a FB "it's free to anyone interested" so I havne't foisted it on him.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

For those of you tackling the great mountain of paperwork and finding that shredding every last bit of a document that only has a little bit of personal info on it is too much can I suggest these
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blade-Security-Kitchen-Shredding-Scissors/dp/B0012D1CB0
    or
    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/15991/Easy-Clean-Herb-Scissors

Then you have only to tear out the offending identifying elements and you can then recycle the rest of the pages. Obviously this only works with things that aren't entirely personalised to you all the way through.

I'm on the part of the electoral roll which can't be sold for marketing purposes, does that mean that bliddy politicos can still get their paws on it for canvassing? I always regard political canvassing as a damnable insult to our intelligence. It's like Oh, OK, I shall just forget everything you and your party have done (or have failed to do) for my kind of people for the past several years/ parliaments/ centuries and base my decisions of some printed materials/ broadcasts/ door-knocking in the weeks running up to polling day?

 Really? What a bliddy insult that is. Funnily enough, bearing in mind I live in social housing in a highly-deprived ward, we NEVER get bumph or visits from the Tories. Actually, I don't know that a Tory canvasser would escape from Shoebox Towers with their skin intact, but I'd probably pay good money to see them risk it.:rotfl:

It was a long day MyHappinessProject ;) I just cant wait to get all this junk out of my house.I did work at a whirlwind pace yesterday.

My DH came in the bedroom at one point saw the massive pile of stuff on the bed and beat a hasty retreat. But came in later saying "Oh I love my sock drawer I can see them all":D

I cant believe how insprired this is making me feel somehow lighter and more in control of things.Very strange but I am itching to start this morning and will do soon.

I will update later on and look forward to hearing your progress.
