:) Have shredded a scruffy old exercise book which had my travel notes from a couple of trips in 2005 and 2006. Decided I didn't want to keep them so they've gone into shredding and the shreddings into the recycling; they take them here. That's one of my little niggly jobs done.

Dustykitten, sounds like you have been having a very productive day. More power to your elbow.

Have hauled something out of the freezer to defrost for my supper, which is starting to look a little bare. I plan to freeze some of my home-grown leeks in there, as there's still plenty and they may start going to seed in late May if I don't watch out.

Does that mean you don't get a little colourful icon or does it mean something else entirely? Sorry to ask what are probably very daft questions but I genuinely puzzle about such things.:o

Tut, tut! There are no such things as daft questions - only daft answers! ;)
Hi I can I join you please.

They take anybody on this thread, Dustykitten... they accepted ME! :rotfl:

I've read up to the end of the clothes section and made a start yesterday. Positives were the folding and sorting it all together, I have socks, tights and swimwear still to do. I didn't 'feel the joy' with it all, but hate clothes shopping so for now I have kept all stuff I wear, don't have a massive collection but I feel I'm not getting it - tips please.

I am still struggling with clothes! Most I don't feel joy about, and can't afford to replace at present. If I only kept the joyful ones, I'd be freezing, and ruining them while doing chores. And a black velvet coat looks terrible with walking boots or flip-flops! :rotfl:

I keep going in again and weeding more out, which is helping.
    :)

Books will be next and already dreading paperwork, I think it will take months! Do I stick at it rather than move on to easier things like ornaments, cutlery etc?

Hmm, the struggle with my clothes could be my avoiding getting to paperwork... :o

I have kept my momentum up by discarding (and getting out of the house) random books from my my vast home-library.

I've also found that kondoing odd drawers/boxes has helped to keep me focussed, brought me joy, and it has lowered my tolerance of clutter, so I am discarding random items which catch my eye and annoy me. :j

You'd think having been a flylady for almost a decade I'd have a grip on all of this.

FlyLady (Queen of Organising) is right, "you can't organise Clutter!) :(All your training from FL will provide you with joy, after you have discarded the excess! And you'll whizz through FL's routines! :T

In the past I have, to my shame, stuffed papers into carrier bags because someone was coming and I had to tidy up. That way lies madness, my friends - you'll be searching for ever for the missing cheque book!

Ditto. I dread getting to those bags - some will have disintegrated by now!

One of the most enlightening things so far is in how many places I store the same/similar things rather than all together or in just two upstairs/downstairs locations. I really get why you need to choose a group of items and get them all out. I so don't want to go to work tomorrow so I can carry on but as I'm only doing one day this week I can't complain.

First sack of stuff has left the house with 2 more lots already in the boot of the car.

I have just decluttered a pack of OOD condoms,

Sorry I had a Dr Who image in my head when I read that and then realised what OOD stood for:rotfl::rotfl:

Not much declutter done today - unless you count weeds and prunings OH an I finally used up a bag of wood chips I didn't get round to using last year, as a mulch - we have a friend who is a tree surgeon and local supplier of logs and he often slings over a pile of wood chips if he is passing. I bagged up what was left at the beginning of the autumn and just never got round to using it - done now and bag in bin:)

Not done loads this weekend but have had a contact about a wall full of bricks. Someone is coming to collect them on Tuesday hopefully. There are nearly 100 that have been hanging around since I decided to redesign the garden wall with the car.:o

I have also repurposed the box that the cat food pouches come in. I have discovered that it fits perfectly in a set of malm drawers (ik*a). My vest tops that were starting to drift in my t- shirt drawer are now sitting pretty in the box in the drawer.:)

OH has nearly finished DD bedroom. He has only been doing it since she left for uni in September- she comes back in a month.:T that means we can relocate all her stuff back to her room and hopefully kondo some of it.

My daughter said to me yesterday 'you have been doing this a while now'

My reply was that I wasn't in a state of I must do this I must do that On a daily basis.

I knew when I woke up yesterday I was going to sort the fridge and chest freezer as I had been googling how to organise both the night before.

Both were kondoed with no expense. I simply looked at what I already had for sorting things out! A cardboard box, plastic shoe boxes.

Getting carried away thinking you must do something every day makes you frustrated. Go with the flow as you feel like it. It's much more productive and I still smile when I look in my knicker drawer every day.

    Happy sorting
