So nice taking my socks out this morning, they were all relaxed and I could see all my leggings at a glance.

Aim is to get 15 minutes later to do a bit more.

:p I just looked up oods on the interwebs, ick.

Have accidentally decluttered a largish bit of gold dentistry last night, flipped the top off one of my back teeth whilst flossing. It's called an overlay, sort of half-way to a crown. Waiting for the dentist to open their lines to see how soon they can fit me in for treatment. Mind you, I was fast enough to stop it escaping down the plughole when it pinged out of my mouth.:rotfl:

I expect I shall be decluttering some spondulicks his way quite soon. OK, just got thru on the phone and we have a hot date for 10.30 am.

Hope the hot date with the dentist goes ok GQ and isn't too expensive.

I think I may have kondo all of Dh work shirts:eek: we did his work stuff a few weeks ago and I know he said that there was a pile that could go which were left out. I thought he put the others away after they were folded. The weather has been so good recently that he has literally thrown his t shirt into the wash Friday night I've done darks over the weekend and he's taken it out off the folded stuff Sunday night. I hadn't done a dark wash this weekend but knew I had one ready in the machine. We spent an hour going through all the drawers in the bedroom and the one we'd earmarked for his work clothes is empty. His trousers and winter sweatshirt are hung up but no tshirts to be found anywhere. This means he's gone from 12 to 1 since kondoing, I know the aim is to be minimal and his work shirts don't bring joy ( just money in) but really annoyed with myself if we have accidentally culled them all.
I have 4 Cs bags still in the back room but they have been put there since we did the clothes, and we've done a Cs drop and a clothes bank drop since we did the wardrobes.
A quick late wash and a shirt dried in the airing cupboard meant he has gone to work dressed this morning just I case anyone thought he was doing a poldark!

I am finding it much easier, washing wise, with fewer items - the turn around is a lot faster as the basket isn't over flowing with washing, the airer isn't over burdened with clothes (and therefore not drying) and I've done away with the ironing basket so it has to be done as it's dry in order to be put away!

If it's a good drying day I can have stuff washed in 52mins (my quick wash programme), dried in an hour on the line, ironed, aired and ready to go in the wardrobe in under 4 hours. That's pretty good going.

  • Morning all,
Silly me, decided to kondo my jewellery box on Saturday, the anniversary of my mother’s death three years ago. Big mistake, so many memories and I was a sobbing wreck for the rest of the day.

    On a lighter note
I and the old man were having a discussion about the title “Making History” I know it as a novel by Stephen Fry whereas he thought it was a play by Brian Friel.
A quick Google and we discovered we were both right. I said to him. “Well I knew I was a right, because I have the book” and he responded “I knew I was right because I have a copy of the play” At no point did it occur to either of us, to go and get the hard copy. Probably because we knew it would take forever to find them.
Ironically when I googled it, I used my Kindle Fire.

We really don’t need so many books, if we can’t even be bothered to find them to prove a point.

:( it's hard and three years isn't really very long....

I Kondo'd my jewellery a few weeks ago. I found a gate bracelet my aunt had left me in her will, it is a beautiful thing except that she had put a half sovereign into the middle of it, which is just not to my taste. She has been gone around 13 years or so now and it has languished in the jewellery box ever since. But the process of holding it in my hand and really looking at it has showed me that, without the sovereign, it is truly lovely and something I will wear. I also found an odd diamond earring (only worth £15) that she left me as part of a set. So a trip to the jewellery workshop has told me that the bracelet will cost £25 to adapt and take the sov out - mostly offset by them buying the earring. The sovereign they will buy off me - it is worth around £90 as gold weight with which I am going to buy a painting. It is a win / win - the bracelet gets worn as it should and i will get immense pleasure out of the painting - and every time i see both of them, I will think of Barb and smile. :)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

:)VJsMum, the current price for a full sovreign if it's been damaged by being in a mount and thus not fit for investment is £170 for scrappage - saw one bought for this purpose on Saturday. Unless yours is a half-sov (same but smaller) they're giving you a lousy deal. Full-size sovriegns in good nick are commanding £200 today. If your one is a half-sov it's a good price.

A full sovreign weighs 7.98g and is 22ct gold and is 22.05 mm across.

ETA Doh! Just re-read your post and you did say half-sov, my fault for speed reading. I'll leave the post up in case it'll be of interest to anyone else, tho.

That does sound lovely, and all from having a proper think about stuff.
