Thanks for sharing my joy! :grouphug: Makes sense, as it couldn't earn as much as I'm paying in interest. (Erm, still have to deal with a shortfall, next year.)
Thanks, mrs moneypenny, you just reminded me of a kondoing tip, I wanted to pass on to Konverts with substantial stashes! I have an unkondoed mountain!
I found a great FREE pattern on Ravelry, yesterday, and will be starting to kondo the mountain later, (as relaxation after other kondoing!)
It's a pinwheel cardi/jacket. I know, I know, us larger ladies may have ignored this style, as it draws attention to tums. However, it is knitted in a circle, and making it a bigger circle, covers all the bumps and turns it into a longer jacket!
The pattern uses Aran weight-ish (DK x 2 is equivalent) and is appropriately named 'Leftovers for Dinner'. Any suitable leftovers, mistaken buys, etc can be used, if colours are chosen with care. I think it takes up to 600g, depending on yarns, and more for a longer version. HTH with this vital kondoing!Needs, NOT wants!

Morganlefey and iQueen
Because my grandmother gave away/threw away most of my childhood when I went to university I made sure I didnt with my 2 DDs..........think I over compensated. One, of many of the reasons for the clutter:o However,I know what iQueen means, I dont think I would be able to confess to throwing away the 'tiger picture' . Well not just yet;) I know I have a pencil drawing done by DD1 of bluebells and swans which I have I have in a safe place and when I find it I will frame it - should of done it years ago! I have 2 large boxes now - one for each DD that I have thrown in, over the years, bits and bobs:cards, hospital tags, newspaper cuttings, bits of early school work, paintings etc etc and at some point I will put them in a scrap book for each of them. I wanted to do it for DD1 when she was 18, then its was 21. She is 24 now.......I will do it this year. Its a winter job when of course the de clutter will have finished:D
Neither DD know have have this their childhood in a box;)
Planning on kondoing the mortgage later this year too!
Quiet day today. Some errands to run not least a trip to recycle centre and CS. DD 2 has offered to help around house - she has had nose in revision last few days but I think she picked up on the emotions yesterday,so I bit of a break for her and some help for me.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

I have five boxes - one each. They will get them when they clear the house, eventually, because at the moment they might just chuck everything. Personal history, in my experience, grabs you much later in life. I shall also be including a copy of their genealogy - so far, back to the early 1700s.
I wanted to do it for DD1 when she was 18, then its was 21. She is 24 now.......I will do it this year. Mine are 31-47 and still not old enough to appreciate their history! :rotfl:
Neither DD know have have this their childhood in a box;) Ditto!
Planning on kondoing the mortgage later this year too! Well done! Another millstone kondoed!
Good luck to your daughter with her exams. The break will do her good - I always advised my students to take regular breaks, interchange revision methods, and... make time for some fun!Needs, NOT wants!

Morning all. Am I the only one not fussed on my childhood stuff? I'm 28, wil. I appreciate them more when I'm older? I feel that they mean a lot more to my Mum than they do to me.
Anyhoo, spent all of yesterday helping my mum kondo her clothes. I bought her the book for her birthday a fortnight ago and gave her a card containing a homemade voucher for 6 hours of help with decluttering. She is three quarters of the way through the book and really appreciated the help - she is now a master kondo folder. Got rid of three giant bags for the charity shop, plus a carrier bag of fabric recycling. She did not realise at all how many clothes she had until she saw each category brought together one at a time on the bed. By the end she was knackered but pleased with her new drawers and wardrobes. Hopefully she'll be able to carry on without me to do the last few subcategories of clothing.
Today I'm back home, going to Kondo the shed contents. Helpfully, they're not in the shed at the moment as hubby emptied it to rebuild it. Now it's done, it's time for the contents to go back in, but only once I've finished discarding! Wish me luck
Have a great day everyone!0 -

Most people your age are too busy making history, to bother looking backwards.
You may appreciate, later, the stuff that your mother treasures from your childhood. You may like some of it to show to children of your own. Then again, you still may just junk it!
Of course, these things mean a lot to your Mum. They remind her of her baby and, probably, her main raison d'etre.
I didn't get into genealogy until I was 55! Sadly, I'm top of the family tree and I'm constantly annoyed that I did not quiz my family before they popped their clogs. I spent nearly 10 years trying to figure out the "2 brothers married 2 sisters" that I remember my Grandmother mentioning. What a story I found, with help from other people in Canada and England! Along with another story from my birthplace (NZ) - my great great grandparents had 10 children and only got married a fortnight before their oldest daughter, my Gt Gran!
Use every opportunity, to find out who was who and all the family gossip, over the coming years - you (or some other relative) may well get bitten by the bug later. It's amazing what you discover! The skeletons come tumbling out of the cupboard! :rotfl:
I'm not competitive, but your Mum's progress is putting me to shame. I'm definitely more motivated. What a lovely present you gave her - probably one of the best she has ever had!
Good luck with the refurbed shed - don't let any junk sneak back in! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

And then: some years ago I decided to be ruthless and started not keeping all the lovely little things my 2 girls brought back from school . one was a vast picture of a tiger, and I have no idea what possessed me but I threw it away (having always kept such things. ) That DD chose just that one picture to ask about, climb up in the loft to look for, hunt the house, and I was not brave enough to tell her what I'd done. Oh the guilt ! She's grown up now so now I can give them back all their stuff, books, clothes etc to do whatever they want with. But I am finding it very hard as I have a LOT of stuff
Just get rid of it all. Too much stuff is too much stuff whether you like it or not.0 -
I do find it difficult to get rid of some of the older (20 years plus) clothes, as they seem so much better made and of better quality fabric than the newer ones. I know part of the problem is that I've been buying cheap clothes while I try to lose weight, as I don't want to encourage myself to stay [STRIKE]portly[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]plump[/STRIKE] FAT :rotfl: .“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Just a quick one to say that the bug is spreading! I told my Mum about the book and she's going to download it after I walked into her dressing/junk room and almost got buried under the clutter! Told her for now to just decide what brings her joy and left that seed of an idea in her brain. Overheard her telling someone 2 days later how she's been going through her clothes throwing out the things that no longer bring her joy! Who knows, her house may be fully Konverted in a few months!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
