It must look tres amusing from outside the shed (my shed being visible from the road) as I toss non-breakables out the door for speed. I really try not to fall into my lovely Mum's habit of saying to myself with any kind of container not needed indoors I could put it in the shed to keep stuff in because that way lies madness.
Or, at the very least, an impassible shed.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just popped on.....needed a break from kondoing my paperwork. (Not too bad 'cos I'm a bit anal on keeping that down.)
I've worked in publishing most of my adult life so there was LOADS of stuff I'd worked on, so I've sorted through and kept just one copy of each.
Can I suggest that I have found the most random thing in my Kondo pile?
It's a photo of me, 20 years ago, CENTRE PAGE SPREAD in our local paper and I'm dressed as a CLOWN. (One of the newspaper's mascots!)
What's the daftest thing you've found? Come on.......'fess up!0 -
Among a pile of misc at my parents' house (and they'd moved 3 times since this invitation was issued in the 1960s) was a wedding invite to a distant relative's wedding in London.
Relatives who they could barely recall, had no idea whether were dead or alive and whose wedding they hadn't attended. Which couldn't be discarded because of ???????????? They have it still.
I have a photo of me in a clown costume but since I made the costume I shall keep it. I gave the cossie to a pal who'd borrowed it for a fancy dress party and rather liked it so I said he could keep it.:rotfl:
I'm not bad at hoarding paperwork but I did find a few things in my Recipes folder which can be discarded, when I find a rainy day with nothing in particular to do.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hello all, I'm a late joiner and lurker..... Have read through the whole thread over a few evenings.
It's amazing how many things don't give you a joyful feeling. I've been taking black bags full to local charity shop.... Went through the girls bedrooms earlier, a full bag of rubbish and one of outgrown and unplayed with stuff to go. They're 6 and 3

I've got another carrier ready to go to the Chazzer, and another started - and these are just clothes :eek:Must use my stash up!0

My goodness me! I came on to check the '3 or 4 latest posts' and there has been a veritable flurry! :rotfl:Must be second breath!
Thank you all for your kind comments. :grouphug:I'm not an OCD cleaner by a long shot, just have a tiny kitchen opening off a tiny living room, so it's all a bit in yer face.
Ha ha! When I mended my washing machine a few years ago (it took me 2 years to pluck up courage), I pulled it out. Then, because accessing screws etc was difficult, and I couldn't kneel for more than a minute or two, it took me 3 days to complete the repair.
I had to go out of the front door and in through the back door to get to the sink! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:What is this periodic clean under appliances? After having a lot of home opens etc, I too am a fan of the clear surfaces that can just be wiped quickly. Unfortunately it doesn't come naturally to us, so the week inbetween slowly clutters the surface again!
Surfaces etc only get cluttered, if the items have no home, or the inmates aren't trained to put things away!
The joy of kondoing: I'm becoming really intolerant of clutter. I'm rapidly getting to the point where, if it does not seem to have a home - it gets binned, just to get it out of my sight! :rotfl:Knit_Witch wrote: »I found my birth Mum and she didn't want to know/meet/anything
I am so sorry for your sad experience. I can understand how painful it was for you. It takes a lot of courage to seek out a birth parent. (hug)Needs, NOT wants!

All sheds, with the exception of OH large workshop and one small stone ex pig sty, now duly 'barfed':rotfl:
Its turning into a bitter sweet process. I am glad that I have finally got it together and its being tackled, stuff is being passed on,recycled etc but angry at myself for allowing it to happen, build up, take over......the more stuff is discarded the easier it is becoming, however:D
I have given myself to the end of August to be fully KM'd and I feel now I have at least broken the back of it........well by the end of the day I hope I will feel like that!
Ok back to it. Need to at least get all rubbish and recycle stuff done and shed doors shut by 9pm tonight then its PJs and some kondo chocolate and wine at 9.30 whilst watching'Hinterland':pBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Go easy on yourself! You've seen the light now. You are not the same person that you were yesterday, or when you 'allowed' the clutter to settle in.
Best wishes with the rest of your kondoing! Looking back on the effort it is taking to get things in order - you probably won't 'allow' it to creep back to Square One again!
Enjoy your chillax tonight. :beer:Needs, NOT wants!

Hello folks
I have at last tackled my shed!
Years ago work were throwing out wooden cupboards from their labs, so I took 4 and used them for storage in my tiny little 6x4 ft shed. Of course they filled up with carp and all the useful stuff lived in a heap on the floor
So today I moved everything out, broke up 3 cupboards, kondoed the s p i d e r s (uergh!) and replaced 1 cupboard and filled it with useful gardening tools. Now my bike fits in the shed too, and I've got a new padlock, and I know where everything is
It was very satisfying breaking up the cupboards with a hammer
Took the lot to the [STRIKE]tip[/STRIKE] recycling centre with all the carp. One happy little Konvert todayThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
