I kondoed my clothes a while ago and for some reason have been wearing the same 3 or 4 pairs of PJs and just chucking them on a shelf in the wardrobe instead of putting them away in the newly kondoed drawer. I don't think my brain had caught up with the new me and a PJ drawer that was tidy and would actually shut. Anyway yesterday it was sunny so I decided to look in the drawer and get a pair of summer PJs out. I was amazed when I opened the drawer and had completely forgotten how tidy and organised it was. I will now be using PJs from the drawer and I have realised that the 3 or 4 other pairs will fit in:)

I have kondoed my bedside table today. I had so many leaflets from castles I am sure we have never been to:eek: I found all my ds's baby teeth and will show them to them later before probably throwing them in the bin! I found 12 pence in coppers and an old purse which infortunately was empty. BUT I did find the gold coin my parents gave me years ago and I didn't know where it had gone. I need to see if I can find somewhere to sell it as it could be worth a bit.

dolly mixture I am glad its not just me who has kept school newsletters (my boys are in years 9 and 11:eek:)

igamogam well done on kondoing the sheds. That will be OH's job in the summer holidays:rotfl: enjoy your chocolate and wine!

Hi ladies, I've been lurking since the first post and did make a start but RL overtook me and it's taken a back seat for a while.
Need to restart with a vengeance!

Felt I also needed to respond to i queen with regards to the adoption. My uncle was put up for adoption and it wasn't until he retired after his adoptive parents and siblings had died that he decided to look into his family tree and discovered for the first time that he'd been adopted! He traced his family and discovered that he had not only his mother still alive but also had four siblings, seven neices and nephews and a great-niece!

They are now very much a part of our family and we see them several times a year at our family get-togethers, so there are some happy endings out there.

Here's hoping for a positive end to your story as well.

Hi, I just wanted to thank you all for this inspirational thread! I recently found it and have been lurking for a week, bought and read the book as a result, and spent today kondoing my tops and "bottoms".

I'd never thought I had soooo many clothes!

Now I have a pile of things to go to the charity shop, and such tidy drawers - I love the KonMarie folding method, I can see all the contents of the drawer so no unexpected discoveries in future (I hope!). I even had a whole drawer completely empty, which has never been seen before.

Kondoed the bookcase onto freegle, new owner was very pleased with it. Also gave a friend 4 DVDs he wanted to watch with instructions to pass them on to other friends or CS them once he's watched them.
Kondoed a few weeds and all the old non working solar lights from the garden so it looks much better

How do you cope with things you quite like but never seem to wear/use, but feel really guilty about discarding because they cost you a lot ? And then: some years ago I decided to be ruthless and started not keeping all the lovely little things my 2 girls brought back from school . one was a vast picture of a tiger, and I have no idea what possessed me but I threw it away (having always kept such things. ) That DD chose just that one picture to ask about, climb up in the loft to look for, hunt the house, and I was not brave enough to tell her what I'd done. Oh the guilt ! She's grown up now so now I can give them back all their stuff, books, clothes etc to do whatever they want with. But I am finding it very hard as I have a LOT of stuff :(

    Morning Konverts!

You said it yourself - some items cost a lot of money! At the time. The money was spent. If it has turned out to be a poor choice, it was a mistake. Make up your mind to be more careful in your choices in the future. That is one of the most important lessons that kondoing teaches us about buying. We all make mistakes - whether it was a crappy tin of beans or a designer dress! The past is the past - look forward with better insight! ;)

BTW, I would advise that you live with the guilt of the 'tiger picture'. I never forgave my mother for ditching my favourite childhood soft toy, after I left home. And that taught me nothing - my daughter never forgave me for binning hers, when it fell to bits! There is a chance that if you admit the picture disposal, she won't care... or she will be disappointed and your guilt will increase. Good luck with that one! Rock and a hard place, I think.

I'm shaking. Couldn't sleep, hence the early start. I've just kondoed £14k! A policy matured and I've paid just paid off part of my mortgage. Checked all the numbers, a zillion times before pressing the button! Ah, well, I was rich for a week! :rotfl:
