My own grandmother, born 1899, handed on some useful advice when I was first married: We do far more washing (ironing/putting away) than they ever did.
Our great-grannies had fewer clothes, washed just once a week and would think we were crazy for washing so much and so often.

Just to clarify its my thanks to others posts that aren't being posted.
Had this happened to anybody else.
I press the thanks button but it doesn't register.
:) It happens to me intermittantly. And, sometimes, the Thanks button isn't on the posts at all. It comes and goes for some reason.

    Thank you GQ
I'm glad it's not just me then
It just feels rude when others have thanked you
    and your thanks haven't shown.

A big thanks to all who post such great posts if I've missed anyone.

    Sooooooooo

I am on Day 6 of No Smoking.

This has had various effects of a Kondo variety - if I sit still for any length of tie I want a fag so i am finding I am pottering far more. My kitchen is still spotless. I am finding this a struggle to get my head around. ANd because I have stained the floor black I am steam cleaning it virtually every night before I go to bed!

I also appear to be intent on Kondo'ing all the food in the house - down my pie hole! I have never eaten as much in my life. Ruh roh.

As an aside I showed my mum and sister how to samosa a carrier bag - apparently I am a whole new world of sad.

After doing my clothes last week(and putting 6 similar pairs of black trousers back in my wardrobe) I tried two on this morning and they aren't really comfortable, so they are now on the Cs pile.

Nice of you to keep popping in, Jinny. Having a successfully finished Konvert dropping by, is real motivation for newbies and laggards like me! :T

I managed to kondo half my kitchen shelves over the weekend. They are washed and look good, but have given rise to some komono that will have to find homes elsewhere. My kitchen is tiny, so non-culinary stuff (lightbulbs, candles, and necessary [???], but rarely used, items) has no right to be there!

Yesterday, I spent a really enjoyable day, designing a Blackwork Sampler for a dear friend's Civil Partnership in July. Nearly finished the composition - all symbols and pics of the things that bring him and his partner joy! So, I was kondoing, in a way, and it will also be kondoing some of my embroidery stash! :D

Will have another go at the hall this afternoon - it is slowly bringing me some joy!

I removed a big bag of recycling this morning including the packaging for a kitchen appliance that I've had for years and isn't going anywhere, certainly not back to the shop. The inserts were recycled and the box is being filled with CS donations.

I have also offered a bag of unopened ingredients (assorted dried fruits, glace cherries, marzipan and icing sugar etc) to a friend who's a keen baker.
I used to be quite a keen baker however I am trying to lose weight so the stuff needs to go so that I am not tempted.

Hello. I've been kondo'ING since before Christmas and apart from the obvious benefits of a tidy calm house I've found that the things I buy have now reduced dramatically. Firstly I can now find things that have been missing but also I only buy what I love as well cutting out impulse "error" purchases if that makes sense?

I've been kondo-ing paperwork in sections. I can't get it all out and sort it - too much. Have decided that I realistically need to keep quite a bit (have a BTL property, OH has his own limited company, we both have SA tax returns, I'm treasurer for 2 charities etc) but have made a good start at getting rid of excess - and tidying what remains. I think that - once I've gone through all of it piecemeal I will go through it again a second time. It's not joyous paperwork, but much of it is very necessary. It needs separately sorting/ filing too - I can't have personal stuff mixed with company stuff, mixed with charity stuff! ;):D

Bought some joyful teatowels at weekend - they make me smile because they're pretty and or/ bright and cheerful - so will kondo some of my more boring ones out to the charity I volunteer at - we're desperate for some more! :D
