Thank you IQueen
I like to look in and read what other kondoers are doing.
if I can ecourage others to keep going I will.
I know other posters who have finished or near to finishing their tidying do the same.
Like greyqueen with her practical no nonsense posts.
I wake up each day now and plan my day over a vat of tea. I get
dressed properly now iwas a pyjama housewife pre kondo
sometimes still in them at teatime!! Disgrace!!!
I fold my laundry that has aired overnight, prep tea, vacum dust, deal with post and any drama that my carer duties have me deal with.
Then scratch out some me time.
I dont know how this method of organising has changed my mindset when ive been struggling for years. Ive bought every book on amazon on organizing and decluttering but this funny little book has really worked.
Just keep going everyone. It gets worse before it gets much much better.
my advice is to try and keep your bedroom clear and uncluttered if you possibly can, even in the middle of the tidying chaos. I had boxes of carp and craft stuff in mine. All gone now my bedroom is just for sleeping in and relaxing. My little sanctury. I sleep a lot better for it.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

another bag of household detritus to cs, dh has Kondo'd his personal komono from the chest of drawers, I've posted off a cookery book that I've sold on amazon. The rest are listed to sell and are in the 'exit' box in the front room. If they haven't gone in a month then they are of to oxfam
and I have so much more that needs selling!! We are potty training dd at the moment so I will be able to sell all the washable nappies in a couple of weeks - just holding off for the moment though! Well done everyone, keep going - 6 months remember as the average time it takes to do this

Wore a blouse which has probably been unworn for at least a year, as it got lost among similar items on the huge clothes rail (just under 3ft wide
). Very much joyous, and I will have another one out tomorrow which hasn't seen light of day for a while.
I aim to work my way through these items in the coming weeks to check they are joyous and if not release them.
Will be kondo-ing some stuff outta here at the weekend or, should that fall through, at Easter weekend. Every item gone is a pleasure, space is such a precious thing and so calming to the mind.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Mens personal komono or 'man drawer' as I call it
Oh my days my messie son and the tidy one both had these.
They both gave me permission to sort them out. So after a warning I was going in the next day so personal stuff was taken out not for my eyes. I filled a morrisons bag each from tiny bedside table drawers.
There was dozens of old train tickets. , I kept any phone numbers stapled them together put them in unused wallets.
£6.57 in loose change €100 from holidays. Empty deodorants ect
phone chargers, keys, gloves, hats and even a small bicycle pump!! You get the drill.
I put a lot back but coralled it into tubs. The drawers close smoothly now
well one didnt even shut with all the junk in it.
I cant complain the've had my example to follow with my disorganisation.
So hopefully I can set an example now to live with less.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I find flat horizontal empty surfaces very very pleasing. Most of mine are presently covered with egg boxes filled with seed spuds for my allotment, but they should exit this coming Saturday if weather permits the gardening.
I can't wait to have my surfaces back.
About 20 years ago, I took a short break away with the family for a few nights. We were in a countryside B & B where the owner had gone overboard on making it 'homey'. There were pictures and knick-knacks on every surface inc the timber beams in the ceiling. Everywhere, my eye was being snagged by something. I found it very unsettling to have so much Stuff in my field of vision. Disruptive to the appetite at meal times.
Thing was, it was a very nice old building, with interesting surfaces and shapes and contrasts between materials and the hostess had tricked it out like a showpony with a lot of kitsch. I'd've liked to empty it out again.
I've had ME for 30 years and I think it has worsened an existing tendancy to like simplicity to the point where I feel like my brain is suffering from overload when given to much visual stimuli. I even can't imagine how people live with patterned bedlinen, mine is all plain.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

A short, late one from me. Kondo'd some more recycling and have tackled some paper molehills today.
I have discovered the Pomodoro technique to be marvellous for my procrastination (based on short bursts of activity - all comes from a kitchen timer shaped like a tomato http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique ). I set the (free) app going when I got home from work and used the first 25 mins to sort out some washing and tidying up, the 5 minute break was used for a bowl of washing up, and the next 25 min slot used for sorting paperwork.
Sounds crazy but the incessant tick-tick-tick kept me very focused as I knew I would have a break coming up soon.
Had a pause in the proceedings to go out to a meeting but it made my afternoon a lot more productive I believe."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Morning all
DH has caught the bug! Yesterday lunchtime he actually suggested tackling one of the spare bedrooms. So last night we spent two hours going through years worth of his back issue fitness magazine subscriptions and a pile mountain of old work related manuals and files he'd brought home (incase they were useful) if we had stacked them all up I'm sure it would have been over 4ft high. They weighed a ton! Anyway he decided there was one set of articles he wanted to reread so he saved about 12 of the fitness mags and three of the work manuals (4 full folders went back to be stored at work) the rest have been bagged for recycling so we now have 19 bags on the front waiting to be taken! That is serious Kondoing for us, it has really cleared some space that has been filled for about 20 years.SPC~12 ot 124
