This is lovely idea but alas the hair has become dry and a bit frizzy sitting in a plastic bag for the last fifty two years.Haters are gonna hate - you're not obliged to participate0 -

I hope you don't find this idea offensive / hurtful, but if it was me I would tend towards burying it in a nice spot in the garden and planting a lovely flower or shrub of a kind that your grandmother liked there

With the hair you could always keep a lock or two in a locket or else make some into a picture of some sort. Or even use it to stuff a little cushion or pin cushion or make a small cuddly toy.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

Hi guys, read my way through the entire thread and just by doing the folding thing I've managed to get rid of all my storage boxes from when I moved i.e. my clothes fit in to my one chest of drawers! I'm so happy! I hated having horrible plastic boxes everywhere.
My kitchen is emptier and happier, as is my bookshelf. I used to be a completist, I had e.g. all of the Discworld novels even though there are some that I'm not bothered about. It was refreshing to go through them and keep the ten or so that I always return to, and let the others go.
I'm having trouble throwing clothes away - I'm convinced that now I've left my job and am working for myself the weight I put on over the last couple of stressed-out years is going to magically drop off, and everything I have would bring me endless joy if it fitted me! So I'm going to revisit it all in, say, six months time, and maybe the ones I'll be chucking out are the ones I'm in now. The method isn't going anywhere, right? Or should I be ruthless and risk having to buy everything all over again? I did get rid of everything I used to wear to the office, keeping back only one suit and two tops for interviews/presentations.
To save me buying the book... what does she say about photos? I have loads of them from when my grandparents died, mainly variations on a theme (they liked taking photos of themselves/each other in nice gardens, on holiday etc - places I don't recognise and which mean nothing to me - there are also loads of my sister's kids), and it feels wrong to throw them away even though I don't want them (and nor does my sister, she wants me to keep hold of them though). I also have a few that are old old old, but I don't know who they're of. I wish I did! But I have no way of finding out because everyone who would know is dead. Do I keep them on the assumption that it's probably family?0 -
Went for my monthly blood test today.
The good news: The nurse (Konverted last month) has kondoed her knickers and socks and also, her husband's - he is now a Konvert, too. :T Had lunch with my friend again, also Konverted last month. She has kondoed her knickers, BUT, she has separated her 'best' from 'tatty and wears the latter for 'everyday'!
The bad news: visited the local kennels... old towels, YES please. Duvets and pillows, no thanks - the dogs just tear them to bits!
No personal kondoing today, but can't wait till tomorrow to get stuck in again, for a full day.
Pondskater, my home is hoarded too! No collecting or 'saving' - just post-retirement laziness, that got out of hand. But, I'm really exhilarated by kondoing. I expect to be almost Minimalist by the time I finish and only have things that bring me joy, directly or indirectly. :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j
