I've just realised that yesterday was a bit of a fail - I forgot the bit about discarding before putting away when I was going through all the notepads we have. Oh well, at least it will be easy to go through them now and keep only the ones that bring me joy.

I did go against her other philosophy and bought a piece of storage. It's a carousel, meant to be for storing remote controls (it's huge, I don't know who has so many) and put my colouring pens and pencils in it. I'm really pleased, they all fit in neatly and are readily available and now give me joy when I look at them.

    :) Morning all.

They didn't want to do the second necklace because it's full of tiny pearls, with only a few proper size and medium ones, so it'd take a long time to do and probably wouldn't look right when done, unlike the 5-10 mins it would have taken to restring the other strand where they're all the same size. I've no idea how easy it will be to do or whether I will need to buy beading needles (£1.40 for pack of 4, I checked) but I'll give it a go.

Hi Grey Queen, Lay out a long strip of low tack tape uppermost and take your time arranging them in a line. Keep going back to it and they will be safe until you restring IYKWIM??

don't forget to reward yourself too

I think we should all resolve to reward ourselves after a bout of Kondoing.
I'm off grocery shopping soon and will have a bag for chazzer to drop off.

When I come back I'm going to pull out all of the cd and dvd drawer
I can dump mine but sons have classics
    The godfather ect fair dos
But for goodness sake they usually download them from netflix ect??

Then my treat for today will be
    A bubble bath.....in peace!
Hot pot is already in the slow cooker
So 'they' can help themselves tonight.
    Mammas having Me time.

I think any Kondoing however small should be rewarded
    What's your reward?

    Ladies tap class :D

I am pants at it, but there is something very satisfying about the clump clump clump of tap shoes on a wooden floor
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Not done much the last couple of days as been feeling pretty rough with a cold/flu virus thing. If I am going to do it in the correct order, then I still have bags & shoes to sort out as well as hubby's trousers, tops & shoes. Do you think it matters if I do some things slightly out of order? Just need something gentle to do today as if I move to much I cough loads and I feel a bit achy anyway. Was wondering if I could sit and do paperwork, as that seems quite gentle and shouldn't involve any climbing about or lifting too much.
Going to have plenty of "me" time today though and read and watch a DVD while snuggled under a duvet. Hoping to get back to work tomorrow but not sure if that will happen to be honest.

    Men eh? Bless their hearts.

I find recording the various football programmes on a Saturday night and then plonking him in front of that on a Sunday gives me a couple of hours Kondoing.

He is by far the greatest hoarder in this house, but I've got plenty of stuff of my own to sort out and I have noticed that his wardrobe (we're luck to have one each) is definitely starting to look tidier.

He thinks the carrier bag thing is nuts but I think he was quite impressed when I ranger rolled an enormous fluffy dressing gown small enough to fit in a drawer.

:T Now that was an achievement! I can't get on with ranger rolling - everything ends up banana-shaped, so I'm sticking to ordinary rolling :D

I put OH's clean socks away yesterday - they looked so nice (I usually leave then balled-up in a neat pile in front of his bedside chest, tell him they're there, and then he doesn't bother to put them in the drawer) but I had to remember to warn him not to take the pair in the front row, nearest the bed, today because they have "Sunday" on them :p

  • Can I join please? I need all the encouragement I can get to finally clear out all the STUFF that has accumulated over the 30 yrs we have lived here. I have been reading Flylady and Konmarie, so I feel well geared up to go. All my clothes done, where did it all come from? I have cleared out umpteen black bags and missed none of it! I think part of my problem is the generational thing and coming from a large family, you just didn't get rid of anything, it was passed on,passed down, or kept "just in case". And the big one, always keeping things for "good". The good China, good towels, good clothes, good everything, just sitting there to be looked at! I will be 60 yrs old this year, and I've decided to enjoy the "good stuff" now, and yes it will give me pleasure not guilt. So the good nighties (in case I have to go into hospital) are now in the drawer being used, the washed out ones have been binned. Tatty towels going, nice ones (for visitors) are now in use. I'm on a roll now, and OH has agreed to a load of his clothes going too. It does feel good, seeing a little more clear space is uplifting, and you want even more. I feel like like I am reclaiming my life and my home, it's a new stage in life and we can have our home as we want now. Good Luck ladies.
