Just back from 5 nights holiday in London. Warmer down there;)
It was so easy to pack and I used a much smaller suitcase. I just lifted the tops etc still folded and put them in my case front to back the same way as in a drawer. After KM my house is tidy and I was very conscious of only buying stuff that brought me joy. Always go to rigby and peller and buy 3 or 4 bras. This time it was have you that one in my size - no Have you that one- no just the one you have tried on. This went on in 2 rigby and peller shops and their bras were not bringing me joy so I didn't buy any ( A first for me:D) I went and bought them in Evans. I also bought tights in Simply B as I found my 2 pairs of knee high boots when I did the loft and can now wear my 1 and only skirt.
The orchids in Kew really brought me joy definitely worth a visit. The Docklands Museum and floating barge church and the British museum where I bought some fancy cups in a pretty padded box.0 -

Ooh you are lucky, we love going to London for a few days. Try to go at least twice a year if we can. So many places to see for free as well as others that cost a bit. We love to go and see Les Miserables...our favourite show by far and I can definitely say that it brings me joy....just love, love, love it. Constantly playing the CD's and DVD's as well. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Ooo I went to see Les Mis on Saturday . I'd seen the film but never the stage show. Loved it, bawled my eyes out.
AnywayI want to buy a soundtrack but there are so many versions are there any in particular you'd recommend
Anyway to keep on track. Husband is off on holiday on Friday, and I've offered to help him pack. This is completely unheard of. We despise packing so only ever do our own as late as possible.
Anyone know if you can ranger roll salopettes?0 -

I have the original London cast soundtrack and the 10th and 25th anniversary concerts, as well as the 25th anniversary tour soundtrack. Love them all as I have favourites from each one....eg. Micheal Ball was the best Marius ever, Alfie Boe the best Jean Val Jean. Also have the DVD of the 10th and 25th concerts. Nothing compares to seeing it live though, been 6 times so far and really need to go again! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm plodding on...
Another 6 big bin bags out today and 2 big boxes of recycling. Sold another item too.
When I bought my first house, Dad made me a set of shelves from solid oak to fit in a specific place. A couple of house moves on they got damaged, and have spent the last 10 years in their constituent pieces under another piece of furniture, gathering dust. So I have dug them out and mended them at work, and when the glue is dry I'll take them home and use them in the back room to put all the telephone, router-type things on, with cables arranged neatly. This will free up a dining chair that everything was sitting on, which can be sold or given away with the rest, and the floor space used better
This gives me triple joy because I'm using something that was made specially for me, and freeing up space, and I mended it all by myself! Oh, and someone else might enjoy the chairs so that's even more joy :T
I do wonder why on earth I needed a book to show me this, it becomes so blindingly obvious as I continue that I feel a bit silly that I didn't think of it myselfThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I know what you mean rosyq about it being blindingly obvious.
I've become far more discerning over the years about what I buy and don't really make a purchase unless I love something. However it's never occurred to be to think that way about what I continue to keep.
I also think this process works so well because once you've gone to the effort of removing each category from its current home it's easier to be objective about how much joy it brings before you put it back. More often than not I realise I don't love it enough. But if I hadn't taken it out, handled it and thought about it, it would still be there.0 -
I have just re covered a dining chair seat for DD - as it is one of a set of six I thought I would let her see it tonight when she comes over for dinner and then take it home to make sure it will fit properly. I don't want to use all the material and then find I have to redo then all.
It sounds completely counterintuitive to Kondoing but I found today that J**n L**is has an online sale today and ending up ordering three dresses to be delivered. I don't expect that all of them will be suitable but if even one of these does "give me joy" then for a fifth of the RRP I will have something for upcoming graduation and some nice dinners out. Anything not right can be returned so I won't have wasted money in a panic near the time .
Have Kondoed three pounds in weight since last week and need to lose the "more than a stone" I regained over Christmas and while DH was at the hospital.
I got the book from the library yesterday and should get a chance to start to read it tonight."This site is addictive!"

Feeling pretty pleased with myself this afternoon.
After work, I visited my pal's shop for a cuppa and a natter, then dropped into a jeweller's where they were restringing some 'pearls' for me. Only £2 to turn a double-strand of 'pearls' which was too small for my throat into a single strand which I can wear.
Would anyone like to hazard a guess at how long it is since these have been worn? We've worked out that not in the last SEVENTY YEARS. They went from Grandma's jewellery box into Mum's jewellery box in 1970 and there they stayed. They're costume jewellery, but old costume jewellery, a nice weight and colour. I'm wearing them now and thoroughly enjoying them. I plan to wear them a lot.
I have also been given a meter of jeweller's nylon thread, with the promise that if I can get the 'pearls' from the second necklace, a triple-strander they didn't want to do themselves because of the varied sizes of beads, I can bring them strung to the shop and they'll put a clasp on for me. I'm so excited and overwhelmed by their helpfulness, and told them so.
I donated two bags of Stuff to my chosen chazzer and had a little mooch in some chazzers but came away contentedly empty-handed.
I'm quite amazing myself at some of the things I am able to let go. The low-hanging fruit of the decluttering tree went a long time ago, and what was left was stuff which I had anxiety issues about parting with, so it's a step-change for me to be relaxed about this.
Loving it that KM's book is doing so well. I still think she is as mad as a box of frogs about some things, but she's engagingly right so much and she's hitting the spot for a lot of people far beyind Japan. Good for her!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
