6 bags awaiting drop off tomorrow at the chazzer, a mountain of stuff (rubbish) awaiting hubby to take to the tip at the weekend. Paperwork complete, now to continue with the komono.
I'm loving my beautifully folded clothes and organised wardrobe, my samosa bags bring me joy every time I get one out. I love looking at my bookcase and seeing my favourites. I'm finding so much joy in having a clutter free bedroom and sitting room (the fact that I haven't finished unpacking helps a great deal, the other rooms are a work in progress). All in all I'm loving my life.:T Looking forward to the future :T0 -
Hi peeps, I haven't been here for a few days as work has been hectic, but I have managed to kondo a few small categories anyway. Well done to all of you for sticking to the path!
So far I've done all my clothes, books, jewellery, kitchen utensils etc, and artists materials (not the paintings yet as I want a full day for that one). The result up to now, apart from tidiness when I open the relevant cupboards, drawers etc, is a very pleasing freeing of space: one and a half bookshelves, one hall shelf, two kitchen drawers. When I have finished everything else, I'll decide how to store my stuff so as to use the drawers and shelves without them looking full and cluttered.
I'm taking my time with this as I can see myself changing things around ten times and that would be daft, lol.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Hello
Everyone is doing so well. We have small piles of stuff ready to go.
DS sold some games and got £37. We still have some games belonging to our other DS to go.
DH took two, bags for life bags, full of books to the fire station for the firefighters benevolent fund.
We have a pile to be traded in, think we are up to about £18.
DH has put a few items of clothing in the charity bag. He has also sorted out some leads and keyboards, along with an old phone they are going to BHF electrical store.
Really looking forward to a week off work next week and continuing on this mission. Still lots to do. I'm hoping to be done by the school summer holidays. I know it seems like ages away but every holiday I spend trying to get some order in the house. This time I would like to start the summer holiday with the house in order.
Off for a relaxing bath now using some lovely bubble bath - no keeping things for best, every day should be treated as special.
Have a lovely evening.

Pollys... I agree about not keeping things for best. I have decided my nice dinner set needs to come out of storage and get used more often and I am going to start wearing a lot of clothes that used to just stay in the wardrobe for special occasions. Same with my nice perfume, I actually had some on to go to work the other day, where as normally I would only use it sparingly. This whole process has really opened my eyes to life and how we should live each day to the full and not wait for "tomorrow"....it might never comeThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Lurker here! I've been following the thread, although at a slower pace.
Plenty of clothing has gone out, but I've been contemplating trousers. I have work trousers that are a few years old; I work from home with only a few visits into an office for a few days at a time 3x a year. If I ever got a 'proper' job I'd need to go shopping as my trousers are quite a few years old and while basic and utilitarian, they're not exactly in fashion or making me sparkle.
I've been sitting on the fence about how many pairs of work trousers I have, but decided to work on a cardboard box organiser to ranger roll them for now, and then think about it further.
While doing up the box and doing a little box origami, I managed to slice open a finger on a very sharp box edge.
After I stopped the bleeding I was so irritated that I kept the two pairs that get used and put the rest into the charity shop bag. Could I get any more of a sign than that....let go!0 -
Another phase to this Kondo'ing lark is that I no longer have things I am saving "for good". I would never use my posh toiletries just for every day - always wanted to keep them for holidays or special occasions (?) but now have put them in the bathroom and use them every day! Such joy!
Also I was a great hoarder of china - a sucker for tea/coffee sets and managed to let go of quite a few....the last ones I looked at long and hard - its a complete china dinner service with tureens, gravy boat, soup bowls in saucers & the usual cups, saucers, milk jug, dinner plates etc. I only ever used it at Crimbo because its got a silver rim round the plates (blue roses - really pretty)
So I comprimised - I kept it but also because there were so many side plates I tried one in the dishwasher and it came out fine - so now I use all the side plates as they go nicely with my plain white dinner plates (dont want to use the dinner plates cos my lot are a bit microwave happy and dont want them going up in smoke!)
So every day I am using up the nice things I thought I would always keep for best - but really, best is right now! lolKondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0 -
So right about using stuff up and enjoying! I couldn't agree more. Earn it, spend and enjoy, but don't buy because you think someone else will benefit from the bargain factor if you don't, and don't hoard.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Been too busy over the last day or two for much kondoing, its the first time in my life that i look forward to dealing with dry laundry.
Aaahhhh its the little things.

Shelves up
I need to sort out all the cables from the phone, router etc - DD suggested we use pretty duck tape to stick them to the wall :rotfl: So that's what we'll do, I have some blue which will match the painted walls, and it has penguins on
Very joyous!
Need to touch up some paint where I've taken things down so I think I'll have to brave the loft soon.
Sold more furniture
Feeling more upbeat today. I might not get much kondoing done until Monday now as I'm away with OH this weekend - how will I cope :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
