Continuing from yesterday, this Kondo minion managed to get the three-drawer wired basket unit into the fitted wardrobe, and the jumpers nested snugly in their new home.
I've left the top drawer empty but lined with a fleece blanket, as it has been claimed by my calico cat. As ever, I'm her willing servant!0 -

Enjoy the rest of your evening. That goes for everyone else too.
The lads are watching footie so its a nice bath and boudoir for me.
I told them I'd cleared the paper mountain and made a filing sytem.
They said "ok"....................tumbleweed rolling moment!
Er not even a well done
I only got praised on here.
Oh well never mind. They might have more to say about it
when they arent glued to the footie:(”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Not sure what the age range of you lovelies is but I am wondering if the Kondo phenomena is about getting older and wiser.(or a bit crazier in my case)
What do you think?
I met two friends the other day and somehow got around to talking Kondo and folding clothes. Friend 1 same age as me 50, was really interested in the ideas and loved the photo of my son's drawers.:o Yes I know but I had to get evidence just in case it didn't stay tidy.
The other early 30s just laughed.
When I was younger I couldn't wait to buy stuff - wrong I know but this was the 80s. Now I can't wait to get rid of it. Everything that comes in makes me think of what I can get out of the place.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

I'm also following the Mumsnet threads - 6th thread just about reach full quota... 1000 posts per thread.
Most posters are mums of young children and babies! And SO enthusiastic about Kondoing. Most are employed, too. Some have kondoed their jobs!Needs, NOT wants!

Been offline due to house move over the weekend. Looks like I've got some catching up to do! I have missed my evening read.
I have finally made a start (yippee, whoop whoop!!) and I'm so excited! I've decided that nothing is going to be unpacked/given a home (barring life's essentials) until it's been kondoed. Started on the clothes today and will still be doing them tomorrow but should have those finished then I can look forward to folding. The house is a tip as you would expect from a move but it will look fabulous, even if we are living amongst boxes for a while.:T Looking forward to the future :T0 -

I tried to persuade my husband to let me roll his ties, he said he prefers the Italian spaghetti way of them in his drawers rather than the neat Japanese way.
But I have carried on sorting my drawers. I bought some drawer dividers from IKEA. They were on offer 4 for 3 so I went half with a friend. They are really good. My bedside drawers now has places for meds, make up and creams and deodrants. No clutter and works really well.0 -
Drusilla, that's an interesting idea to toy with; I'm 50, for the record. But I was interested in Japan and minimalism back in my twenties, just not sure about myself and what I wanted to achieve in life.
I think some of it may relate to how busy you are. For example, a middle-aged woman may well be a sandwich-generation type, with kids, elderly parents, home to run, paid employment, partner to help support, pets, friends, hobbies, a lot on her plate. Something which eases life and promotes simplicity is incredibly interesting and seductive.
Equally, a thirty-something woman may be childfree and have lots of time to do stuff and not have had enough life-experience to know that consumerism inevitably disappoints. Plus she will have had less time to ram her living space with Stuff and may have less of a problem overall. And some younger women, like your Mumsnet example, are very busy with childrearing and paid employment and very keen on anything which eases their domestic burden.
Another reason I really like the whole MK thing relates to chronic illnesses; I have several and one is ME. Because I haven't a lot of energy, I need to be careful not to waste it flailing around unproductively among Stuff, or I fritter my life away. Compared to the time and energy lost looking for things and picking up things, it's far more efficient for me to do it right first time, than to keep doing it wrong. This morning I went into my kitchen, which is 6 x 6 ft and a great trial to live with. Due to partial Kondo-ing and a late night dishwashing session before bed, it was fast and efficient to organise breakfast and prep my pack up and I found it quietly joyful.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
