The KonMarie method

Thanks Grey Queen.
Not looking forward to books. I've got rid of quite a few recently after a quick Kondo-Scan... But that just means the ones that are left will take more effort.
I'm v sentimental about books so I must force myself to actually think about each one (rather than just saying "I need all of them!")
Having said that, I'm in the right frame of mind since starting this process. Came across some old cards and letters today and realising they brought no joy, chucked most of them.weaving through the chaos...0 -
Where does miscellaneous junk come in Marie kondo's method? Is that what they call komono? Feel the bedroom junk draw should be my next goal... Or am I just procrastinating doing books?!weaving through the chaos...0

I've just eaten a packet of crisps while catching up with the latest posts on the thread - I couldn't help samosa-ing the bag when I'd finished the crisps. Well i guess it will take up less room in the bin :rotfl:0

After the laundry I did the very last tidying of clothes, and managed to find 5 more garments I can live without.
Started on the books, and I can already see I'll free up a whole shelf, which I will use to put a few ornaments on (the ones I will keep when the time comes to kondo that category).
My hall is now cluttered with bags and boxes to send on their way to cs or recycling to add to the two large bags already disposed of. I cannot believe I was living with so much stuff I had absolutely no need for.
Then there will be all the papers, the stationery, the kitchen stuff, my artists material and all the paintings. I decided not to rush it - easy does it. By end February I should be pretty much straightened up.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Well you cant win em all
I went to the cafe with my friend. I pulled out a samosaed placcy bag. Intrigued she asked me what I had done to get it so small.
So I held court by showing her how to do it. The lady behind the counter came over for a demo
A little girl was on the next table with her Grandma. She was waiting for an appointment at the clinic in the same building.
The little girl folded the bag beautifully. (I did warn her she mustnt do this at home as the bags are VERY dangerous. She was old
enough to agree and said she knew about the danger.)
Her Grandma said she thought I had too much time on my hands if thats all I had to do. "Yes" i said "I am looking forward to having too much time on my hands" "All due to a book I've read called
The life changing magic of Tidying"
She said it was ridiculous buying a book on decluttering and anyway said she was proud of her 3 full fitted wardrobes of clothes. She had paid a lot for them. Some of the pieces she had were 30 years
old. Well like I always say its a personal choice.
But 3 fitted wardrobes!!!!!!!”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Hi, I really need to start decluttering and love the philosophy behind the konmarie method.
I have a few things I don't need or want any more but I'm unsure of what to do with them...for example I have my old Brownies sash and all the badges I earned sewn on - would a charity shop take it? I have no idea...
