Not posted for a few days but avidly reading and keeping upto date with all you progress.
I've recently Kondo'd a huge pile of paperwork, mortgage statements for the past 7 years, definitely not needed as I check our monthly interest on line. I also had water & council tax bills going back 10 years. They have all no gone along with the utility bills. We changed supplier last year so I have kept a couple of years just so I can compare I usage when we next reviews.
I tackled some of DH clothes last week too!! Seriously how many pairs of black jeans do you need! When I folded his T-shirts I realised he had way too little colour in his wardrobe I'm now determined to "brighten" up his life.........Lime Green & Orange is in now, right?
Books have also been cleared. I considered trading in at Amazon, but none of the ones I had were tradeable. It was a struggle to get rid of a couple of books as they were ones that were part of a series of books that my mum & I used to read. My mum sadly passed away 6 years ago so they were a reminder of her which gave me great pleasure, but I have a kindle and can always download and re-read (again!) if I feel the need.:)0 -
Is it wrong to admit I actually paid 5p for a carrier bag simply to experience the excitement of making my very own plastic bag samosa?
Living as I do in the land of the 'bag tax', and owning a selection of sturdy jute 'shoppers' paying for a disposable bag really went against the grain, but wow! it was worth it:rotfl::rotfl:
You can also samosa plastic sandwich bags very well.
I'm hooked though on ranger rolling, I get quite dismayed when something won't ranger roll :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
YEAY PAPERWORK EVEREST FINALLY CONQUERED!
Go me! I thought I'd never get through it
All shredded. The rest Kondoed and filed
I've never been this excited since I Kondoed me knicker drawer!
Tip with the shredder keep stopping to let the motor cool down
Spray a page with spay oil/wd40 or one cal food spray will do lightly tho not dripping
That oils the teeth
Fold the page in half top to bottom
Keeps the side rolling free
Don't try to put too many pages through
It's a pants job but it's soon done
Now I'm off to meet a friend for a Costa latte and almond slice.
That's the worst of it all done now.
I need to get out of the house today before the snow comes.
Edit not going to Costa lot now
The community cafe it is then........how very mse!!!
Well.......there' is still the cuboard of many things
Or the Tardis as its called in here lol
But the stuff is all in boxes and sorted from last year.
And quite frankly I can take my time over that
Just need to go through them.
Knowing what I know now I will have it empty practically in no time”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I always go out with at least 1 of the fold-up, press-stud shoppers in my handbag! And I haven't had to buy a carrier bag since shortly after the charge was imposed, and I trained myself to use jute or other long-life shoppers!

Well done, Jinny! :T
Thanks for the WD40 tip for shredders - I have yet to find mine in The Room of Doom!
That room is an Aladdin's Cave and tackling that will be my reward for kondoing the rest of the house... when I finish! SO MANY joyful (and unjoyful) things to be re-discovered there. :rotfl:
We also have a Community Shop and Cafe, for a special cake treat!Needs, NOT wants!

I have Kondoed my pashmina and scarf drawer, only 1 or 2 to go out, most are cashmere and I have collected them from CS, sales etc over the past 10/12 years, they can give such a boost to an outfit and as my winter (duvet) coat is black they do get worn often, great for holidays too, use as a blanket/snuggly on planes and wrap round shoulders when the evenings drop chilly.
I think I will do my tights drawer this afternoon, again I have a collection of these, mostly coloured opaques, so unlikely to loose many, but hopefully they will samosa neatly, they are already folded, but hopefully "can do better" :rotfl:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I think I've finished my clothes and shoes!
I used to think that having lots and lots of clothes would be a luxury, now I realise having space to breathe is the true luxury.
Still n the library waiting list for the book - what category comes after clothes? I've done a few bits of decluttering in other rooms but not a proper kondo yetweaving through the chaos...0 -
I think books are the next category. You're supposed to take all of them out of the bookshelves (or wherever) hold each one without getting side tracked by opening it and ask yourself does it spark joy.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
