On decluttering and tidying blogs I regularly see the mention of old socks. I use a lot of mine and sometimes OH's for rolling up and pushing into the toes of my shoes and boots, this keeps them nicely in shape in storage from season and gently pushes up that crease mark that occurs across the top and keeps them in lovely condition. Boot trees keep the legs from slouching but not the foot.

I have a confess to being something of a shoeaholic:D and I like them always to look good and of course they last longer too.

  • Book not arrived yet but too impatient so I have done books, and photo's! Books were harder than photo's weirdly also got rid of some photo frames and cd's as I was in the living room! The shelves look great, will wait now for book and assess what else I need to do pleased as made some storage containers to organise other things so I have not bought anything! :)

Had a bit of a blitz in kitchen - cleaning and a I was going along I found myself doing the 'Kono Scan' eyeing up stuff that really has to go and mentally relocating other things

I find myself doing this too - now I know what to call it

    Kono Scan!

Been doing a bit of sewing, altering a few pieces of clothing that I like but are too small, not right etc. Two successfully, one a failure so it can go to the CS. At least it's used up a few bits from my fabric stash. Going to have a go soon at applique for a cushion cover, so that will use up some more.

Have demoted my ripped up jeans to be clothes for painting in, and I'm actually wearing my brand new unworn pair of jeans rather than "saving" them for best.

Maddie - thanks for the tip about socks.

I have just kondoed DS2's room and found a load of odd socks, and socks beyond the pale - was just going to chuck them but now I know what to do with them. I'll use them for my shoes.

Apart from the socks, a couple of bits of underwear and a too small t-shirt I have not thrown anything of his away. I have designated one drawer to diy and gardening clothes so all the tatty worn stuff has gone in there. .

Everthing else is all sorted in catagories and neatly rolled or folded and there is now so much space.

He has just broken up with his girlfriend and I know he would find it difficult to sort out her things so I have gathered them up and put them all in one drawer so he doesn't have to deal with it. Then she can either pick them up or if they do get back together, then it's all here waiting for her.

He's a bit subdued at the moment and has been wanting to tackle his room but has been exhausted when he gets home from work so he'll be dead chuffed ive done it for him.

Right time to do a bit more. I am so enjoying this.....

I just bought the same four piece set but paid over £12 for it elsewhere with free postage  ( I was under the impression I was saving about £15 )

I swear i have seen the same things in the £1 shop over the years.I only looked on ebay so didnt check any other places but it took over 2 weeks to be delivered as i didnt realize it was coming from china. It has zips at the bottom of every one.
In the summer i am going to go through all my clothes as its to cold to do now and i feel fat so nothing will look any good.I have thrown clothes that i didnt even try on as i got no "joy" from looking at them.

Kondo'd in my (small) office at work yesterday - most of an information resource went out to be recycled. Times have changed, and we now print off as needed from websites these days, instead of storing expensive print copies which go out of date over time. What needed to be kept meets MK standards in that it takes up much less space, is current, and is easier to see and manage.

It was so satisfying, and so worth it when you think I am in that space on my work days for longer than I am in my home. To be recommended! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Just popping in to update.

Managed to CS 5 bags of books. I have a bit of a thing for books. I love the feel and smell of them when they are new. Then I had a little think about the ones I had. They aren't new. I have read them and enjoyed them. I won't get much if I try to ebay etc so they should go to CS.

I should say that I have kept all my Terry Pratchett's but I do read those over and over.

I also have a Kindle and try to buy new books on this now.

On a samosa bag note. OH brought recently brought to house carrier bag for me to samosa. Perhaps he is starting to come onside.:)

I have been reading the thread all week and it is really impressive to see how motivated everyone is to clear their [STRIKE]cr*p[/STRIKE]unjoyful stuff.

A few people have mentioned how they are finding it difficult to do when they are at work. It is too much of a challenge to work, clean and tidy the day to day stuff and then come home and Kondo.

I have been thinking about this and agree it is really hard. The main thing I have been doing to help myself is make sure I put away the washing every night - Kondo rolled/folded of course plus sort out the kitchen so that at least it feels tidy. I am sure most people do this anyway but you know it's easy to sit on the computer.:o

Anyway, I have now got a mental list (that I should really write down) of all the things I want to Kondo - not read the book but am letting all you lovely ladies guide me.

Right off to put that list on paper. Got a beautiful notebook at Christmas that gives me joy to look at but I wasn't sure how to use it. Now I know!:)

Sorry for the REALLY long post but thanks if you have read it.

I've been awol, work got in the way this week.

Today I've done DVD' s and a few of the little tins and boxes where the komono hides away.

I was going to do my tights but couldn't work out how to roll/fold them so I put that basket back on the wardrobe shelf for another day. As I was putting it back I noticed a small change purse at the back of the shelf. I've been looking for it for months. When I opened it I found 110 dollars in it. I'm so cross cos I was in America before Christmas and could have spent it. I've put it with my passport now and know it's there for next time.

Nice to see new Konverts on the thread.
