Hehe! I have let it go on the playlist. I am a podcast fan but find it hard to wait a whole week for another fix of the Archers, I'm a daily girl!

Checking in as have not posted for a while. I got the Kindle book last weekend and enjoyed reading it.

Last weekend I did my clothes and shoes and had a trip to the recycling centre. Yesterday was dress down at work and I wore things I had worn before but in a different combination with a scarf which had emerged from the land of forgotten belongings. I was complimented on my nice outfit! The difference is that I can actually see what I have now and although I have fewer things I seem to have more choices.

I can only really Kondo at the weekends but it's good in the week to put things where they belong. I am finding it difficult to stick to categories and think Kondoh 2 is on the cards.

Today was jewellery. I wondered what to do with long and chunky necklaces as I thought it best that they were hanging. I hung them on the bar of a coat hanger and put a clothes peg between each on so they don't move too much. Now that they are not in a heap in a box I might just wear them more.

Tomorrow is the airing cupboard...bring it on !

DH came downstairs looking puzzled saying all his stuff in the COD had moved so I reassured him all his stuff was still there just folded and neater.

Checked upstairs and he had crammed a load of things on top and the drawers could hardly shut  Spent a few minutes refolding etc and now the drawers will shut.

  • I was planning a full day Kondo today but have been shattered from a particularly busy week - went back to bed this afternoon which is very unusual for me but feeling recovered now.

Managed a mini-Kondo this morning finishing off my Spring & Summer clothes - half a sack of clothes to the CS as a result & now they all fit into 2 suitcases whereas before they were in about 3 different places.

    Hello all

Another busy day in Kondo Land I see :D

I have joined you today, working my way through MKs list:
    • last of the books to Zapper and CS
    • last of CDs ditto
    • last of DVDs ditto
    • last of paperwork shredded and put out for recycling
    • bathroom done
    • skincare & makeup done (that didn't take long as I don't use much)
    • accessories done
    • valuables done, a small parcel ready to post to HG metals, thanks for the heads-up about them :)
    • share account updated to sell everything (joint account with mum, we'll share the proceeds which won't be much, and it'll be 1 less thing to keep an eye on :T )
    • A couple of things photographed to list on the selling page at work next week
Thanks also for the heads-up about bicarb in with the whites wash, it worked really well, I'll do that routinely from now on :)

MK lists electrical appliances next - I don't think she means in the kitchen though? I think those come later?

Thanks so much everyone for posting here, it's so motivating to see what others are doing and pick up tips :T

Would this potentially make a good walk in wardrobe storage space?

I can see where you are coming from - unfortunately beam runs just about OH head height and ceiling then continues to slope almost to floor and next beam is at ankle height - not good for walking in to but holds lots of boxes:(

I have done a Kono meals today - tackling emptying the freezers and getting more organised - Lunch - fish finger wraps and shredded lettuce ( YS wraps and fish fingers from freezer!) and tonight we had a huge monkfish tail, fresh pesto, and parma ham from freezer along with multi part used bags of frozen peas. Used up some creme fraiche and parmesan cheese in fridge and a whole load of carrots from LAST WEEKS veg box - wrapped fish in ham baked in CF with pesto and sprinkled with parmesan. Served with huge pile of peas and carrots - not bad and some space in freezer now. I watched a programme on eye player earlier whilst doing Kondo paper sift - Greg Wallace 'helping' a family with food buying etc.........they spent over £13K a year on food and had over £1K worth of food in store:eek:

We have a room we call the secret dwarf room. Its about four feet tall. Our plans for that are to paint it white, put interesting lighting in there and have it as a place to ' ponder' quietly, a ' seated meditation room' if you like. DH also wants to put a tv on the end wall to use to lie on his stomach and watch tv/ movies uninterrupted. :D.

You space sounds like it would make a much nicer ' pondering room' than ours, or a wife only dressing and make up room, husband kept out by beams, a table with make up, mirror, make up, hair dryer. Somewhere to lay clothes out for next day on high stress days, or when planning for events etc.

( can you tell I love these sorts of odd corners old houses give? )

I think I have kondoded a welsh dresser as DD thinks she could find space for it in her new house. At the moment it is in the garage so I gave it a quick clean and then DH removed the top bit to make it easier to transport.

I had half a large tray of cottage pie left so froze two large portions in trays for DD to take home tomorrow and have an extra portion for either freezing or eating in the next two days if anyone turns their nose up at what I plan to cook. With four DDs I have had vegetarians
(who still eat bacon sarnies and burgers!!) low carbers, low fat dieters, low sugar eaters etc. Funny how once they are the ones who have to schlep it home , buy it , plan it and cook it etc the plan seems to change. ;)

I have kondoed the sheets/duvet covers and sheets today. They are stored under the bed. I have got rid of loads and put the ones to keep in boxes separated into single, double and king size. I was going to put the pillow cases and sheets in the duvet covers but most of them didn't match and there were only a couple of complete sets. I can now see what I have got and it will be quick to take a sheet, duvet cover and pillow case when I change the beds. The boxes take up a lot less space and there is even space to put another box with my vests in. I know Marie says not to separate seasonal clothes but I couldn't feet all my long sleeved tops, t shirts and vests in one drawer so I too ke the vests out. I only wear them in the summer so will swop the vests and long sleeved tops over in the summer.

I am so, so happy tonight. Five years ago I bought a day bed for our little box room. I love it but my OH hates it with a passion. I agreed last week to store it in the garage but I resisted selling it. Tonight our DD rang and asked if she could have it for our granddaughter. I'm really pleased that it will go to a loving home.

    Just needed to share!
